🙏 U.S. & 🌎 WORLD LEADERS, New Testament Urges Pray for ALL in Authority 1 Tim 2:1-4: Europe🇪🇺 Africa🌍Asia🌏🇨🇳 North South, Cent America🇺🇸🇨🇦

Your burden to pray for those in authority is right and biblical, and it is encouraging to see how seriously you take the call in 1 Timothy 2 to make petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving for all people, for kings and all who are in authority. The purpose given there is clear, that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness and reverence, and that this kind of praying reflects the heart of God who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. The house of God is to be a house of prayer for all nations, and your prayers for leaders in every land, for your own community, for provision and for the persecuted, line up with that.

Prayer begins with relationship. Jesus gave a pattern when He said to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Without a living relationship with God as Father through faith in Jesus Christ, prayer has no foundation, but when you belong to Him through the Son, His ear is open to your cry. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and only in His name that we are saved and our prayers are heard.

Scripture urges us to continue in prayer and to watch in it with thanksgiving. This is not about trying to change the mind of God, but about opening the door for God to do what He already longs to do. He has given people freedom of choice and He will not violate that, yet when we delight ourselves in Him He places His desires in our hearts, we express those desires back to Him in prayer, and He is then free to act in and through our lives and in the lives of others. That is why persistence matters. One faithful man described in Scripture labored fervently always in prayer for others, with great zeal, and that kind of steady, heartfelt intercession leaves a mark that can be heard when a person prays.

Prayer is also not bound by place or circumstance. The apostle Paul, though chained in prison, carried on a far reaching ministry simply by praying, holding up churches and leaders by name before the Lord and reaching across provinces with intercession. In the same way, your prayers from where you are reach into palaces, government halls, and homes around the world.

So together we bring these requests before the Father in the name of Jesus.

We thank God for the authorities He has ordained according to Romans 13, and we ask for His help and guidance for all who govern. We pray that He would grant them wisdom from above, which is pure, peaceable, gentle and willing to yield, rather than earthly wisdom. We ask that He would set a guard over their lips as Psalm 141 says, and give them the tongue of the wise as Proverbs 15 describes, that they would be surrounded by godly counsel, do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God as Micah 6 teaches, and that He would restrain bitterness and rivalry and promote righteousness and unity according to Psalm 133.

We pray for the nations as His inheritance according to Psalm 2, that false teaching, deception, persecution and hatred would be swallowed up and brought to nothing, and that truth would prevail. We recognize that behind visible conflicts there is an unseen spiritual battle described in Ephesians 6 and in Daniel and Job, with powers at work that we do not always see. We ask for heavenly intelligence, angelic protection as in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6, and for the silencing of false prophets and deceitful reports as Titus and Isaiah speak of. We pray as 2 Chronicles 7 teaches, that the people of God who are called by His name would humble themselves, pray and seek His face.

We pray also for the welfare of your own city and region according to Jeremiah 29, to seek its peace and pray to the Lord for it. We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict neighbors, students, teachers, workers, families, pastors, law enforcement and local leaders of sin, righteousness and judgment as Jesus said in John 16, that the Father would draw people to His Son as in John 6, and grant saving faith as a gift by hearing the Word as Ephesians 2 and Romans 10 teach. We ask for a wall of fire around your area as Zechariah 2 and Psalm 91 describe, and for protection from evil as Jesus prayed in John 17.

For provision, we ask for daily bread as in Matthew 6, for contentment with godliness as in 1 Timothy 6, for restoration of what the locusts have eaten as in Joel 2, and for the fruit of the Spirit, especially love, joy and peace, and a cheerful heart as in Galatians 5 and Proverbs 17. We ask that instead of shame there would be joy and double portion as Isaiah 61 and Zechariah 9 promise, and that the Lord who has torn would also heal and bind up as Hosea 6 says.

We remember those in chains as Hebrews 13 instructs, asking for relief and release for prisoners of faith and for the persecuted church as in Acts, and we pray for the peace of Jerusalem as Psalm 122 says and for all the descendants of Abraham according to Genesis 12, that many would come to know salvation through Jesus alone.

May the Lord keep you continuing and watching in prayer with thanksgiving, lifting holy hands without wrath or doubting, laboring fervently for others, and trusting that from the first day you set your heart to understand and humble yourself before God, your words are heard. May His kingdom come and His will be done, and may His answers bring peace that guards your heart in Christ Jesus.
