Twisting Scriptures to our "benefit"

What brought this to mind is there's a certain politician who became a presidential hopeful who, by all appearances, is doing this. Vice President ### is a Christian. And hearing his viewpoints, he follows it. But now, we have this gay guy ### running around pretty much saying that Christians who call homosexuality a sin, that THEY'RE the ones who are misled, and if you don't approve of his gay lifestyle, YOU'RE the one arguing with God, because God created him that way. [That's interesting, as my reading of Genesis tells Eve {a woman} was created as a helpmeet for Adam, not another man. Also, when this guy spouts off about it's God's decision to "make him gay," I wonder what he does with verses like, "When a man lies with a man as he does with a woman, it is an abomination before God." And citing those who won't get into Heaven, "...nor men who lie with men." {"Even the women gave up their NATURAL affection"} NATURAL affection, but according to this guy God made him that way. {The actual reality of it is, we inherited sin from Adam and Eve, and that's why we see these perversions of the natural.} But what I don't like, don't go twisting scripture telling me God made you that way, and therefore He approves of it. To me, that sounds like someone WANTS TO keep a certain sin habit, so instead of calling it sin, they "justify it by saying, "well, God "created them" that way. Won't work on Judgment Day, though. This guy says if you disapprove of his gay lifestyle, you're arguing with God, because God gave His approval of his lifestyle. So where does twisting Scripture rate as a sin? {It's, at least, lying.} Because this guy is not just gay but calls himself a Christian, and says the Christians who don't give him a stamp of approval for being gay, THEY'RE not the true Christians. Very misled. "God will not be mocked."

Like I say, though, I think prayer should be a back up to the witnessing, in the end isn't it the Holy Spirit that changes ones heart?

Yes, but I really believe you can help this person by sending them a personal letter. Maybe start out with that you wonder why you should donate to their campaign and then go from there. I'd put top secret and for your eyes only on the envelope and send it return receipt so they know you are serious and then I would get into the scriptures and sharing the real Jesus with them

Jesus is alive and well and He knows the deep thoughts and feelings of our heart. I feel so bad when I hear someone called Christian acting like one of the world. No wonder God's word says, "Many are called but few are chosen." Fast and pray before the Lord that you and everyone you know and care for are the chosen ones. The world, the flesh, and the devil are out there to make our life so miserable and full of worry and stress so we shall not have time for God's work or do God's will.

He can repent with his dying breath but did or does that help us in the here and the now? Me, you're the only one I have even heard anything about him or I would tell him myself

Another example I would give is ###. She would sing Gospel songs, tell everyone she was practically born and raised in the church, loves the Lord, etc….out of one side of her mouth, but then out of the other she admits she has an "open marriage" meaning they both can fool around, although the Bible says adultery is a sin. Also, when she was coming up for a part in "The best little whorehouse in Texas" she blurted out, she couldn't miss "doing it" with old ###. For a woman who claims to love the Lord, why would she, a married woman, look forward to having sex with another man? Also, when Christians tried to witness to homosexuals, she actually got on the Christians, thought they were "mean spirited" for not accepting the gays lock, stock and barrel. Now that's not even backsliding, these are calculated choices.

If you know about these things then why haven't you done anything about it? I don't pay attention to secular news, I don't know anything about ###, ### or ### etc. I don't pay any attention to a lot of the things you seem to know about or mention that is going on in the world for I am not of this world. My news comes from Jesus and the Bible

Never ever use scriptures for your own benefit or for your own advantage. Use is for the glory of God the Father and the salvation of lost souls. If you use it for your own benefit, it will return to you with negative effects. God's word is eternal and we must see and think that way so when we get to heaven and give an account to God, He will say. Good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of Your Lord.

The Jehovah's Witnesses twist Scriptures all the time. They say there is no heaven, no hell. Heaven will be on earth and there is no burning fire for anyone. Changing God's word, and twisting around are one sin that God does not like at all. It is better to follow what Jesus said. Obey my word and follow Me. Let us all do this and be a blessing to many.
