Father, You will that none would perish but all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. Surely You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather they turn from their ways and live, Ezek 33:11... You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. Eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41, not humans that were originally made to image God, Gen 1:27.

Let us be merciful, that we may receive mercy, Matt 5:7... We ask for grace to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Tertullian, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, get saved herself, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. Forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance, see Hos 3:1-5. As this one is unwilling to reconcile, wants divorce, says we are done and though I've reached out, prayed and fasted, is still as unwilling to return a text, much less return to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the wings of God Almighty or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37...

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. We hear the deep anguish in your heart, brother, as you pour out your pain over a broken covenant and a hardened heart that refuses reconciliation. Your cry echoes the very heart of God, who weeps over those who reject His love and turn away from His ways. We stand with you in this battle, for this is not merely a struggle between two people, but a spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness that seek to destroy what God has joined together.

First, we must address the gravity of what has transpired. The breaking of marital vows is no small matter, it is a violation of the sacred covenant established by God Himself. The Scripture is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). The one who has led others into adultery has not only sinned against you but against God and those who have been ensnared by this deception. "He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys his own soul" (Proverbs 6:32). This is a serious matter, and we must not minimize the weight of such sin.

Yet, even in this, we see your heart, one that still longs for repentance, restoration, and redemption. You have done what is right in reaching out, praying, and fasting, just as Scripture commands: "Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?" (Isaiah 58:6). Your persistence in prayer is a testament to your faith, even when the response has been silence.

We must also address the hardness of heart that refuses reconciliation. The Lord says, "I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live" (Ezekiel 33:11). Yet, when a heart is set like stone, even the most fervent prayers can seem unanswered. But we know that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We must continue to intercede, not only for restoration but for a true turning, a metanoia, a change of mind and heart that only the Holy Spirit can bring.

The Scripture you shared from Ezekiel 36:26 is our prayer as well: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." This is the work of God alone, and we must trust Him to do it. We also lift up the youth in this situation, for the Scripture warns, "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea" (Mark 9:42). We pray for their protection, that they would not stumble because of the hardness of hearts around them.

We must also address the reality that reconciliation may not come in the way we desire. God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and sometimes, His answer is not restoration of the marriage but restoration of us, our faith, our trust, our dependence on Him. If this is the case, we must surrender even this desire to Him, trusting that He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Now, we pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that You see the pain, the betrayal, and the brokenness in this situation. Lord, we ask that You would soften the hardened heart, that You would remove the veil of deception and open eyes to see the truth. We pray that the one who has turned away would be convicted by Your Holy Spirit, that they would repent and turn back to You, and if it be Your will, back to their covenant partner.

Father, we ask that You would protect the innocent in this situation, the children, the family members who are caught in the middle. Let them not be led astray but be drawn closer to You. We pray for the one who has been wronged, that You would heal their heart, restore their hope, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We break every chain of deception, every lie of the enemy that says this situation is hopeless. We declare that You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we trust You to bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).

Father, if it is Your will, restore this marriage. If not, restore Your child, give them strength, wisdom, and a future filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Let Your light shine in the darkness, and let Your truth prevail. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved, the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). Amen.

We encourage you, brother, to continue standing on the Word of God. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Surround yourself with godly counsel, immerse yourself in Scripture, and trust that God is working even when you cannot see it. You are not alone in this battle, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you.

We hear the ache behind every word you’ve written, the long nights of praying and fasting while being met with silence. The pain of a spouse cutting off all contact and insisting on divorce is a deep, grieving kind of loss, one that doesn’t let go easily. We ache with you over her choices and what they’ve cost you both.

It’s plain that you are pouring yourself out in prayer, and we honor that. At the same time, we know from walking with others in this valley that faithful waiting can drain even the most settled soul. While you continue to hold her before God, it might be wise right now to make sure you yourself aren’t running on empty. Finding a trusted Christian counselor or a pastor who can walk beside you, not to talk you out of hope, but to help you process the hurt and stay spiritually solid, isn’t a step away from your stand; it’s a way of fighting from a place of strength rather than slow exhaustion. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do in a broken marriage is to tend our own relationship with God and our own inner life, so that if the door ever cracks open, we’re able to step through whole instead of shattered.

We don’t know what God will do in her heart or whether she’ll turn back. But we do know He sees you, and He holds you. We join you in asking Him to do what only He can, and we ask Him to carry you through this with a steady heart.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this husband who loves a wife who has wandered far. You know the sting of rejection and the ache of watching someone you love refuse to come home. Please quiet his heart with Your presence. Guard her from deeper darkness and, if it please You, break the hold of sin over her life. Give him wisdom about when to wait and when to let go into Your hands. Sustain him in this long season, and let him not lose sight of Your faithfulness, no matter what happens next. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The heart that is broken over sin, this is a sacrifice God will not despise. You have poured out your soul in this request, and in that outpouring there is already the mark of a contrite spirit. Yet let me press this word upon you: the repentance you long to see in another cannot be manufactured by your fasting or your tears, though these are precious in His sight. The bones which He breaks, He alone can set. The heart of stone requires His sovereign touch, for law and terrors do but harden all the while they work alone. It is a sense of blood-bought pardon that dissolves the heart of stone.

Beware, then, of mistaking any repentance that springs solely from terror or consequence for that evangelical repentance which is unto life. The repentance which is the work of the Spirit gives God glory, it turns from being its own god, it craves holiness, and it leads the soul to look not to self but to Christ and to Christ only. You ask for light to shine that penetrates darkness. Yes, that is the very thing. No human eye has ever wept drops sufficient to wash away sin, nor has any sinner’s resolve ever scaled the wall of separation. But the Father sees the prodigal while the prodigal is yet a great way off. The eyes of mercy are quicker than the eyes of repentance. You have cried, "Let Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed." Then trust that same crucified love to do what your words and your messages cannot. Bring your own broken heart to the heart that was pierced by the soldier’s spear, and there find rest from the despair that watches for the gangrene of unbelief to set in.

If a king's heart is as channels of water in His hand, so also is the heart you weep over. There is a broken column in your text, a life cut short in its promise, a vow shattered, but the Builder of the house can raise up a new pillar in His own time. Do not let your determination stand broken off with a "but." Instead, let your own soul be the living epistle, known and read, while you leave the writing of the other's story to the finger of God. True repentance is His gift, not a well you can draw from by force. Wait upon Him who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a people zealous for good works. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves such as are of a contrite spirit. It was for such as these that Jesus suffered upon Calvary.

Consider how great a thing it is that salvation is brought near in a short word: if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. This is the new covenant, not written on tablets of stone but on fleshy hearts by the Spirit. Yet many honor God with their lips while their hearts are far from Him. Do not imagine that joining in a few Psalms and offering the accustomed prayers in a careless manner is enough for your own salvation, much less for hers. The acceptable time is now; the day of salvation is at hand. He who takes away the sin of the world stands ready to cleanse without labor of ours. Why then do we delay to lay hold of the gift? Let those who are putting off repentance to their last breath take heed.

You have been afflicted, and it is not without purpose. Whether we are afflicted, it is for the comfort and salvation of others. Do not cease your tears and your fasting, for great is the force of love. See how Paul, that man of adamant who laughed at death, was crushed by a few tears and broke his heart for those he loved, warning them night and day with weeping. So let your own tears flow before God on her behalf, and let your love be made manifest, but remember that tears alone do not turn the heart. It is God who must write His law within her and remove the stone and give a heart of flesh. Pray earnestly, and add fasting and almsgiving, for these give wings to prayer, but let it not be a mere outward show. Let your fasting be joined with mercy, that you yourself may receive mercy.

Examine also your own life: are you a living epistle, known and read by all? Let your heart be a treasury of Scripture, your mouth full of wisdom and spiritual songs, your hands engaged in good works, and your bosom firm in charity. A soul adorned with such virtues is a powerful witness. And for the little ones, guard them diligently, lest they stumble, for their angels ever behold the face of the Father.

Do not despair over her stubbornness. Even old age, which draws near to death, often softens the hardened heart, and the expectation of the judgment seat breaks down resistance. Yet do not rely on time; now is the acceptable time. Continue to reach out with love, even when your calls and messages are ignored. Remember how Hosea dealt with his wayward wife only upon her repentance. God desires repentance, not sacrifice. Wait upon the Lord, and while you wait, secure your own salvation with fear and trembling, for the Lord is at hand.

God sees the heart, and what He often sees in a heart that wanders is a painful division. A heart that is chasing after other lovers, other hopes, other gods of its own making, while still keeping some outward form. It is the spiritual adultery the prophets spoke of, a turning away from the One to whom we are bound by covenant. The tragedy is that a person can even stage a kind of return, a flurry of religious activity, but God is not fooled. He looks for the whole heart, and He can tell when it has not truly come back. Those other refuges, those hills and mountains where we run to find salvation, are a vain hope. The broken cisterns we hew out can hold no water. They promise life and freedom but deliver only shame and destruction.

What you are describing in this person’s choices, the broken vows and the refusal to reconcile, is a heart that has feasted on those lies. The call to repent is not just a call to stop a behavior; it is a call to turn back from being one’s own god. Without that, the remorse is just a worldly sorrow. But the sign of true conversion has always been a change, a making right, a restoration. That kind of turning is the very message Jesus Himself preached from the beginning and that He still requires of His church. It is a baptism of repentance, a death to the old self.

Yet in the agony you feel, and in your faithful fasting and praying, you are standing in a long and costly tradition. Your tears over a rebellious heart mirror the tears of Jesus over a city that refused to be gathered under His wings. You are not wrong to mourn the hardness that stonewalls your calls and texts, because it is a heart of stone that needs to become a heart of flesh. But here is the ground of all hope, the very center of everything we cling to: no leprosy of the soul is too deep for the touch of His power. The Lord Jesus is willing to make clean. He is the only salvation, not just a theological concept but a living person who can reach into the darkest wilderness and apply His healing.

Let the prayer of your heart rest not on the ability of the one who has strayed to turn back, but on the promise of God to create something new. He is the one who can take out that heart of stone and put in a heart of flesh. He is the one who can write His law on the mind and heart so that knowing the truth moves from a Bible app on a screen to a living, breathing reality. Do not look for salvation from the hills, from a changed circumstance, or from your own long efforts. Truly in the Lord our God is the salvation. Let that truth be the anchor for your soul as you continue to walk in mercy and model the very love you long for them to see. The work is His, and He is more than able to turn a heart from the power of darkness to light.
