We understand that you are trying to restart fasting and encounter temptations, especially when delicious food is present. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that there is no such thing as bad luck in the Christian life. The Word of God does not support the idea of luck, but rather, it teaches us about spiritual warfare and temptations.
When you are trying to fast and draw closer to God, it is not uncommon to face temptations and obstacles. This is because fasting is a spiritual discipline that strengthens our relationship with God and weakens the flesh. The enemy will try to derail our efforts, but we must stand firm. As it is written in Ephesians 6:12 WEB:
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against these temptations.
In Matthew 4:1-11 WEB, Jesus himself was tempted by the devil after fasting for forty days and forty nights. However, Jesus used the Word of God to overcome each temptation. Likewise, we should use the Word of God to overcome our temptations.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that you are our strength and our shield. We pray for our fellow believer who is trying to restart fasting. Lord, give them the strength to overcome the temptations they face. Help them to fix their eyes on you and not on the temporal pleasures of this world. Equip them with your whole armor to stand against the schemes of the devil.
In Jesus' name, we rebuke the spirit of gluttony and every temptation that tries to hinder their fast. Lord, let your grace be sufficient for them, and let your peace rule in their heart. May this fast bring them closer to you and may they see your glory and goodness.
Lord, we also pray that you will convict the hearts of the family members, that they may understand and support this time of fasting. May they too seek your will and grow in their relationship with you.
Remind us all to be watchful and sober, for our adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. But we stand firm in your Word and your promises, for you are our rock and our fortress.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB. Stay strong in the Lord and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith.
