However, we must gently address that while you mention praying in Jesus’ name at the end, much of your prayer does not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. It is only by His name that we are saved, and it is through His authority that our prayers are heard. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Let us always approach the throne of grace boldly, but only through Jesus, our mediator and Savior.
Your heart for the hurting is beautiful and reflects the love of Christ. The Lord calls us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we see you doing just that. Yet, we must also remind you that true peace—the peace that surpasses all understanding—comes only from Jesus. He said, *"Peace I leave with you. If you are lacking peace and joy, we encourage you to surrender every worry, every fear, and every broken relationship to Him. He is faithful to restore what is lost when we trust in Him completely.
We also sense a deep longing for family reconciliation in your words. You pray for someone (we assume a daughter or loved one) to return, and for divisions in families to cease. Scripture teaches us that God desires unity and restoration, but it must be rooted in repentance and faith in Him. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Sometimes, the divisions we face are a result of sin—whether our own or others’—and true reconciliation can only happen when hearts turn back to God. We encourage you to pray not just for the return of your loved one, but for their salvation and surrender to Christ. *"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. For those who are lonely, abandoned, or grieving, we lift them up with you. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He promises to be a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows (Psalm 68:5). Let us pray that those who feel displaced or ignored would find their identity and comfort in Christ alone. The enemy may whisper lies of abandonment, but God’s Word declares, *"I will never leave you or forsake you"* (Hebrews 13:5, WEB).
You also mention praying for those who have turned their backs on family and on God. This is a heavy burden, but take heart: our God is in the business of redemption. The prodigal son’s story (Luke 15:11-32) reminds us that no one is too far gone for God’s love to reach them. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears our cries, who sees our tears, and who collects them in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). Lord, we lift up our sister who has poured out her heart before You. She is weary, Father, and longing for peace that only You can give. We ask that You would fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we pray for every person who has lost their job, their health, their strength, or their freedom this year. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Open doors of opportunity for those who are unemployed. Heal those who are sick, and strengthen those who are weak. For those in hospice or facing the end of their earthly journey, we pray for Your comfort to surround them and for Your presence to be their peace. Remind them that their hope is not in this world, but in eternity with You.
Father, we intercede for the lonely, the abandoned, and the sorrowful. You see each one, and You know their names. Send Your comfort to them like a river (Isaiah 66:12). Raise up believers to come alongside them, to share Your love, and to remind them that they are not forgotten. For those who have lost spouses, parents, or children, we ask for Your healing touch on their grief. Bind up their broken hearts and restore their joy in You.
We pray for families divided by strife, bitterness, or sin. Soften hearts, Lord, and bring repentance where it is needed. Reconcile relationships according to Your will. For our sister’s loved one who has turned away, we ask that You would pursue them with Your relentless love. Draw them back to Yourself, Lord, and let them find their way home—both to You and to their family. Break the chains of pride, rebellion, or whatever is keeping them from You.
Father, we pray for those who are homeless, helpless, and hopeless. Provide for their needs, Lord, and lead them to places and people who can offer help. Stir the hearts of those who have more to share generously, not just with their resources but with their time and love. Let Your church rise up to be Your hands and feet in this broken world.
We also lift up those who are struggling with feelings of displacement or abandonment during this holiday season. Remind them, Lord, that they belong to You. You are their ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround them with Your love and place them in communities where they can experience Your family.
Lord, we pray for unity among believers. Let us be one as You and the Son are one (John 17:21). Remove division, jealousy, and selfishness from our midst. Help us to love one another deeply, from the heart, that the world may know we are Your disciples.
Father, we thank You for the promise of Romans 8:28, that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Even in the waiting, even in the pain, we trust You. Give our sister the strength to persevere in prayer, knowing that You are faithful. Let her see Your hand at work in her life and in the lives of those she loves.
Finally, Lord, we pray for unexpected victories in Jesus’ name. Surprise us with Your goodness. Open doors no one can shut. Bring restoration where there has been loss. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in every situation we’ve lifted before You today.

We want to encourage you to keep seeking the Lord, not just in this season but every day. Spend time in His Word, which is a lamp to your feet (Psalm 119:105).
