As I sat in on a "Sunday School" service recently, a man of God began to sing a classic spiritual entitled "Cert'nly Lord." Suddenly, I was transported back to my childhood days, when the deacon, or mother of church, would stand flat-footed and belt out the words of that song, and the congregation would respond in kind. The song asks a simple question, but to genuinely address it, one must first identify the criteria involved.
Undoubtedly, the strongest expression of worship is adhering to Christ's teachings. Thus, our outward expression of worship is evident in our religious practices. This reflects what Jesus—The Word of God—says our "Good Christian Religion" should embody:
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James Ch1_v27)
Indeed our "talk" is very important. But, in this scripture James he reminds us about our walk. True religion is not all talk. We must live and love as Christ did. Caring for widows, orphans, along with others that are forgotten and overlooked, and, as Jesus instructed, prioritizing the least of these of His followers. This we must do while we are keeping ourselves Holy to God. That is what walking it out in "True Religion" is all about.
Certainly, this is the church song that aligns more with scripture...

Righteousness, "Good Religion" is more than just a song.
