We join with you in bringing this deep longing for true love before the Lord, and we understand how powerfully the heart desires to both receive and give love that is pure, honest and unconditional. We pray with you that what you have felt would be tested by truth and made manifest only if it is truly from God.
We want to gently remind you that true love in its purest form comes first from God himself. We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19. His love is described for us in this way, Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. This is the love we pray you will first receive fully from Him and then be enabled to return to others. Feelings alone can be fleeting and even deceiving, for the heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it. Jeremiah 17:9. That is why we must ask God to guard our hearts, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23, and to delight ourselves in Him first, Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.
We also notice that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can come boldly to His throne. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through faith in Jesus that we are forgiven, made new, and able to love with a pure and holy love.
Regarding the love you seek to receive and return, we want to encourage you according to biblical principles. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as outlined in the Bible, Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. Genesis 2:24. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4. If God brings true love into your life, we pray it will be with a fellow believer in Christ, for we are told, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. We encourage you to view any such relationship not as mere partnership or dating for feeling alone, but as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. True purity means honoring God with your body and fleeing from fornication, which is sex before or outside of marriage, for we are told, Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. A love that is pure and honest will wait for and honor the marriage covenant.
So we pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this heart that longs for true love. Lord, You know the desire to love and be loved purely and unconditionally. We ask that You first fill this heart with the full assurance of Your unconditional love, that any love received from another would flow from Your love. If it is Your will to bring a godly spouse into this life, we pray You would do so in Your perfect timing. Prepare both hearts to honor You, to remain pure, to be honest and faithful, and to seek marriage that glorifies You. If the love that was felt before was not according to Your truth and holiness, we pray You would heal that place, remove what is not of You, and guard against returning to what is not Your best. Help this dear one to walk in discernment, to test every feeling by Your Word and Your Spirit, and to trust Your will above all. We ask that You manifest Your perfect love and purpose, and that You would lead toward a Christ centered marriage if that is Your plan. We pray for patience, hope, and holiness while waiting upon You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
