Trip with mother Update and One praise report

First, a small, albeit worthy, praise report to share that my son-in-law has backed off all week on his gas lighting and berating posture towards my daughter. We have had a peaceful home all week - although - this weekend, I did overhear a conversation between he and my daughter - I was sitting in the backyard reading my bible and they were on the patio - and he was being critical, but posturing his outward body language and verbal cadence to look and sound like he was having to say what he was saying as a caring husband who noticed things about my daughter that he felt was wrong - it was total theatre since I was in plain view of them. Thankfully, I overheard my daughter lovingly and firmly rebuke what he was saying. I thank God for her love for God and for the wisdom she is growing in every day. So, I thank all who have prayed over that situation. I would like to add that I have posted a few prayer requests over the past 4 weeks requesting prayer for my family. I need to mention that my ### year old youngest son on Monday night felt a terror strike him in the middle of the night and he turned on his lamp to sleep with the light on as he felt fearful - he said he's never felt that before. My youngest son knows me, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids are Christians; however, he (and his brother and sister-in-law) is not, yet - in fact, my youngest son recoils whenever I speak about prayer, salvation etc. I took a leap of faith and explained to my son that what happened to him was not irrational fear, but an absolute demonic attack, that there's been a lot of demonic attacks on our family lately, and that I would pray for him. Second point to mention is an update concerning a trip I have been ensnared into going on with my mother - prayer was that the trip would either be cancelled or someone else would step up to drive - I can report that no one has stepped up to drive my mother to see her brother and the trip has not been cancelled. If I remove myself from this trip as I have a right to do, my mother will do what she always does when she feels slighted by someone or when someone does something like stand up for themselves to her, she will become revengeful in whatever way she feels will get back at that person and hurt them the most. So, on Wednesday, I will be driver/care giver to my narcissistic mother. It will be a 7 hour trip one way with a ferry sailing in between to get to my uncles place. I confess, I feel let down that God who knows my mother and her tactics, her selfishness, her controlling behavior and meanness, did not intervene. I have asked God to show me what the point is for me to have to endure what will be a very challenging five days. I am praying for protection over my mind, emotions, words and heart. I have taken four paid vacation days for this trip - four vacation days that I wanted to use for myself later this year, but have had to take them for this trip. There is a silent request I have sent up to God as an outcome to this trip - it is a silent financial request. Thank you all so much for your prayers and for lifting up me and my family in prayer this year.

We rejoice with you in the praise report of your son-in-law’s temporary restraint in his harmful behavior toward your daughter. It is a testament to God’s grace that she stood firm in love and wisdom, rebuking his critical spirit. We see the hand of the Lord at work in her life, and we give thanks for His protection over your home this week. The Word reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1 WEB). May your daughter continue to grow in discernment and strength, rooted in Christ, as she navigates this marriage.

We are deeply concerned, however, by the spiritual attack your youngest son experienced. The terror he felt was not mere fear, it was a direct assault from the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10 WEB). His recoiling from the mention of prayer and salvation is a sign of the spiritual battle raging around him. We must not underestimate the reality of demonic opposition, especially in families where some have not yet surrendered to Christ. The enemy knows that if he can keep your son in darkness, he can hinder the light of the Gospel from reaching him. We rebuke every spirit of fear, deception, and resistance to the truth in Jesus’ name. "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). We pray that your son’s eyes would be opened to the spiritual warfare at play and that he would turn to Christ for protection and salvation.

We also lift up your upcoming trip with your mother. It is understandable that you feel let down by the circumstances, especially when you have sought the Lord’s intervention. Yet we must remember that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB), and even in difficult obedience, He is working for our good. This trip is not without purpose, whether it be to refine your patience, to demonstrate Christ’s love in a trying situation, or to plant seeds of truth in your mother’s heart. We pray for supernatural strength and wisdom as you navigate these five days. May the Lord guard your mind, emotions, and words, and may His peace, which surpasses all understanding, keep your heart (Philippians 4:7 WEB). We also pray for your silent financial request, trusting that God sees your needs and will provide according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 WEB).

We must address the spiritual foundation of your prayers. While we appreciate your requests, we notice that your praise and petitions do not explicitly acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father or be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23 WEB). We encourage you to pray in Jesus’ name, for it is through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to the throne of grace. If you have not already, we urge you to examine your own heart and ensure that you have placed your faith in Christ alone for salvation. "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household" (Acts 16:31 WEB).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the victory You have given in the life of this family, particularly in the peace that has come to their home this week. We praise You for the wisdom and strength You have given to this mother’s daughter as she stands firm in her faith and rebukes the enemy’s lies. Lord, we rebuke every spirit of fear, control, and deception that has sought to attack this family. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB), and we ask that You would surround them with Your angels for protection.

Father, we lift up this mother’s youngest son to You. We break the power of the enemy over his life and ask that You would remove every veil of darkness from his eyes. Soften his heart to receive the truth of the Gospel, and let him come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. We pray that the terror he experienced would drive him to seek You, the only true source of peace and security.

Lord, we ask for Your grace and strength to be poured out upon this mother as she prepares for her trip with her own mother. We pray that You would go before her, guard her heart, and fill her with Your peace. Give her wisdom in her words and actions, and help her to reflect Christ in every interaction. We ask that You would use this time for Your glory, whether to soften her mother’s heart or to refine her own faith. We also lift up her silent financial request, trusting that You are her Provider and will meet her needs according to Your riches.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw this entire family closer to You. May they all come to know the power of Your love and the freedom that comes from surrendering to Jesus Christ. We pray that this mother would continue to grow in her faith and that her children and grandchildren would be saved. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

It’s good to hear how your daughter stood her ground with grace this week, that’s a real answer to prayer all by itself, and we’re grateful with you. We also hear the weight you’re carrying about your youngest son’s fear in the night. It makes sense that you’d want to protect him, even more while he’s not yet open to the faith. We’ll keep praying for his heart to soften and for Christ’s peace to guard him, especially in those dark, quiet hours.

The trip with your mother is heavy on you, and we don’t want to brush past that. Feeling let down when God doesn’t step in the way we hope, that’s a painful place. One thing we’ve learned is that God often works not by removing the hard road but by walking it with us, day by ordinary day, giving us just enough grace for the next interaction. Those five days won’t be fun, but they aren’t wasted. You’ve already started praying for protection over your mind and heart, keep leaning into that. The long drive might even be a place where you can fill your own ears with Scripture or worship music, something that steadies you before each conversation.

We’re also remembering the silent financial request you’ve placed before him.

Jesus, we ask you to shield this daughter and driver. Give her patience and a clear mind when words come at her. Let her feel your near presence in the ferry crossing and the long highway. Quiet the fear in her son, and draw him gently toward your love. And in your timing, provide for the need she’s carrying quietly. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The brief, silent prayer offered on the spot, in the innermost shrine of the secret soul, this has prevailed and shall prevail again. When you sat in the backyard with your Bible, and your daughter spoke with loving firmness, there was a prayer within you, strictly offered to God. Time is not an element in the business, God does not hear because of length but because of sincerity. That peace in the home is no small mercy.

As for your youngest son, do not be astonished if what seems terror is the first stirring of something deeper. Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings God ordains strength to still the enemy. The Evil One rages because his craft is not met by craft, but by the foolishness of human weakness turned to God. You did right to name it a demonic attack. His very cry for the lamp is a cry, though he does not yet know to whom he calls. God shall make use of children’s mouths, even those who now recoil, to vanquish the Avenger.

Concerning the trip, you confess feeling let down. Yet calling upon God in the day of trouble honors God in the very act itself, before any answer appears. Your prayer is a truthful recognition that God is a fact even when the path lies through deep waters. The archers have sorely grieved you, and shot at you, and hated you; but your bow shall abide in strength, and the arms of your hands are made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob. Do not run away to others, nor sit down in silent despair and fretfulness. Be quiet, unshaken, a soul that walks before God with an habitual sense of His presence, doing right and shunning wrong out of respect to His will, even in a car for seven hours.

You ask why you must endure these five days. There is a discipline of unanswered prayer, a night season when we cry and are not silent, yet seem unheard. But never draw back from the throne, for all things are of God, who reconciles us to Himself and works even in trial to bring us to rely not on our own understanding. Do not be in a hurry to set yourself right. God will take care of you. Your four vacation days, offered up as a living sacrifice, are not wasted. Genuine spiritual consecration begins with communion with God, and He can make the forced journey a pilgrimage where you fall on your face inwardly and He talks with you.

One more thing: the covenant stands behind every prayer. When you go into that house, take the promise and plead it. David once said, “Do as You have said.” The silent financial request you have whispered into the ear of the Lord is known to Him who hears in secret. He who established an unchangeable priesthood by an oath, even Jesus Christ the surety of a better testament, is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by Him. He will present your praise and offer your prayer. Therefore call upon Him, and glorify His name, both in the daytime and in the night season, for He will yet hear.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You thank God for your daughter's wisdom and her firm rebuke of her husband's theater. This is indeed a gift, a fruit of her love for God. Yet do not imagine the battle is over; the enemy is wily and will return. Continue in prayer, and let peace reign in your home as much as it depends on you. For peace is so great a good that peacemakers are called sons of God, while those who stir up disturbance are doing the devil's work. Your daughter has guarded that peace by speaking truth in love.

As for your youngest son: what he felt was no mere fear but an assault from the evil one. You did well to tell him plainly that it was demonic, for the darkness must be named. Yet do not force the remedy upon him if he recoils; let your life and your prayers speak. The seed sown in fear can be watered by steadfastness. Remember that Paul was once a persecutor until God revealed His Son in him. Pray without ceasing, and trust that the Lord who called you will call him in His time.

Regarding the trip with your mother: you feel ensnared and let down because God did not cancel it. But consider this an opportunity to fulfill the commandment to honor your mother. Though she is difficult, she does not hinder your faith, and therefore you owe her the debt of honor, for she bore and raised you. Our Lord, from the Cross, provided for His mother; shall we refuse to endure a few days of vexation? Do not think God has abandoned you; He is training you in patience. The apostle Paul rejoiced in his chains because they advanced the gospel. Your taking these vacation days is a sacrifice; offer it willingly, and God will supply what you have lost. I hear your silent financial request; nothing is hidden from Him. He who sees in secret will reward you openly. Do not let bitterness take root; go with a quiet heart, praying for protection over your mind, emotions, and words. Seek peace on this journey, for a soft answer turns away wrath, and perhaps by your meekness you may soften her heart. If suffering is granted us for Christ’s sake, how much more should we bear the idiosyncrasies of a parent? May the God of peace go with you and return you in safety, and may your silent petition find its answer in His good time.
