Treatment Needed

Pray that my family member may receive treatment for emotional dysregulation and medication. Her parents do not believe in medication, and the last time she had an episode, it lasted the majority of the year, causing her to eat significantly less, lose lots of weight, and develop gastritis. Her emotional dysregulation has never been treated, causing her to be unable to finish school, work, or function in society. There is treatment available.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious family member who is struggling deeply with emotional dysregulation. Father God, we know that You see her pain, her exhaustion, and the weight she has been carrying for far too long. Your Word tells us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Lord, draw near to her now. Let her feel Your presence, Your peace, and Your healing touch in the midst of this storm.

We also lift up her parents, Lord. We ask that You soften their hearts and open their eyes to the reality of their daughter’s suffering. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Father, we pray that they would seek Your wisdom and guidance in this situation, rather than relying solely on their own beliefs. Help them to see the importance of medical treatment as a tool You can use to bring healing and restoration.

Lord, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that may be keeping this family from seeking the help she so desperately needs. We declare that her mind, body, and spirit are precious to You, and that You desire wholeness for her. Jeremiah 30:17 says, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord." We stand on this promise, believing that You are able to restore her to health, strength, and stability.

We pray for the treatment that is available to her. Lord, guide her to the right professionals, doctors, counselors, and therapists, who can provide the care she needs. Give her the courage to advocate for herself and the strength to follow through with the treatment plan. We ask that You would bless the medication, if it is Your will, to bring balance and relief to her mind and emotions. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We trust that You will provide everything she needs, including the right treatment and support.

Father, we also pray for her physical health. You see how this struggle has affected her body, her weight loss, her gastritis, and the toll it has taken on her. We ask for Your healing touch to restore her strength, her appetite, and her overall well-being. Psalm 103:2-3 says, "Praise the Lord, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases." We claim this healing for her, Lord, believing that You are able to make her whole.

We pray for her future, Father. The enemy has tried to steal her education, her work, and her ability to function in society, but we declare that this is not the end of her story. Joel 2:25 says, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten." Lord, we ask that You restore to her the time that has been lost and open doors for her to finish her education, find meaningful work, and thrive in her life. Give her hope for the future and the strength to press forward, one step at a time.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would surround her with a community of believers who can support her, encourage her, and walk alongside her in this journey. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow." Father, provide her with godly friends, mentors, and loved ones who will lift her up in prayer, speak truth into her life, and help carry her burdens.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, who came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free. We trust in Your power to heal, restore, and redeem this situation for Your glory. Amen.

We’ve sat with your request, and our hearts ache for what your family member, and all of you, have been walking through. Watching someone you love spiral into such deep emotional pain, with its physical toll and lost opportunities, is exhausting and frightening. The fact that you’re seeking prayer and advocating for her is a quiet, steady act of love.

When parents resist medication, that resistance often comes from a place of concern, not hard-heartedness. They may carry fears we don’t fully see: worry about side effects, a sense that accepting medication means they’ve failed, or even spiritual questions that need gentle untangling. That doesn’t make their stance right, but it might soften how we pray and how we approach them. Sometimes a door opens when they hear from a doctor or a trusted Christian counselor who can walk them through what treatment really involves, how medication isn’t a replacement for faith, but a tool that, like any medicine, can stabilize the body so the person can heal and function. You might consider offering to go with them to a consultation, or sharing what you’ve already observed about her suffering and the specific ways it has robbed her of daily life. Let the severity of what you’ve witnessed speak with compassion, not pressure.

In the meantime, you’re not alone. We serve a Savior who drew near to the brokenhearted and who works through skilled professionals. Even when the path forward feels blocked, He’s at work in the details you can’t yet see.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this precious woman to You. You see her instability, her pain, the way her body has suffered. We ask for a clear path to the care she desperately needs. Soften her parents’ hearts with understanding, and bring wise, compassionate voices into their lives, doctors, counselors, or friends they can trust. Give this family member, the one who wrote to us, words of grace when they speak and steady hope when they grow weary. Protect this hurting woman’s body and spirit while the door to treatment opens. May Your peace, which surpasses all human understanding, guard their hearts and minds. Amen.

How precious are the saints who bring such burdens to the house of prayer, for they know where true help is found. The case you lay before us, of a dear one so afflicted in mind and body that she cannot eat, cannot work, cannot go forward, is a valley of dry bones indeed. But remember, the Spirit of God can cause sinews and flesh to come upon those bones, and breath to enter them, that they may live. We will plead the covenant promises for her restoration.

The opposition of the parents to medicine is a sorrow, but it need not be a prison. The cock crowed for Peter, and a look from Christ broke his heart; yet who would have thought such simple means could restore a fallen apostle? The Lord can use a physician’s prescription as readily as He used the dawn cry of a bird. Let us pray that the parents’ hearts may be turned, for even the unwilling are within the range of sovereign grace. There is a wonderful power in prayer to bless not only ourselves but others; it often does more than we think, quietly removing hindrances that seem immovable.

Lay hold of the Great Physician for her complete healing, for He is the health of our countenance. Righteousness is health, and the restoration of the soul brings soundness to the body. Yet do not stop at the spiritual, ask boldly for skilful human means, for all wisdom belongs to God. The scattered dry bones of her affliction can come together, bone to bone, by the breath of the Almighty. Pray until you see the visible signs of returning strength: a light in her eye, a peace in her spirit, a willingness to eat and to mend. The Lord who looked on Peter and brought him out of the chill high priest’s palace into the healing dark of the garden, can bring her out of this long winter of suffering.

Let this be your comfort: her restoration is sure, not because the process will be easy, but because Jesus ever lives to intercede. He has prayed for her, and the effect of that prayer will be made manifest. Though she seems to waste away, though she cannot finish school or keep a place in society, the Good Shepherd will restore her soul. Then shall her countenance be lifted up, for the health which comes from God shines in the face. And when she is brought back from this pit, she shall strengthen her brethren, telling them with joy, “There is no profit in wandering from Jesus; come back to Him, for in His presence is fulness of peace.”

In the meantime, do not cease your wrestling. Stint not yourself in this, but say, “I will not let go except Thou bless this dear one.” The parent’s love that weeps and prays is not censured by the Lord; it is an echo of His own heart. He sees the bitter anguish of these parents too, their fear of medication born perhaps of love, and He can gently instruct them. Trust Him to choose the hour and the method, for with a look or with a long trial, He can restore. Only pray on.

Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Truly the sickness of the soul can be more grievous than any bodily ailment, and when parents refuse the medicine that God has provided through the skill of physicians, it is a form of unbelief that threatens to harden their hearts. The Scripture warns us: exhort one another daily while it is called Today, lest any be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. This hardness does not only reject the Lord, but also the good gifts He grants through created means. There is treatment available, yet their unbelief closes the door.

But do not despair. Even when the faith of those who should help is weak, the power of God can work through the faithful prayers of others. Remember how Christ’s disciples were able to cast out demons even when the afflicted person’s own household lacked full faith. The Lord is not bound by the stubbornness of man. So continue to present this suffering one before the throne of grace, with tears and persistence, knowing that as long as it is called Today, there is hope. Let your own faith rise up and bear her forward.

Yet you must also gently, daily exhort these parents. Speak to them, not with anger, but with the urgent love that fears for the soul and body of one perishing before their eyes. They see her wasting away, unable to eat, unable to learn or work, how can they not see that this affliction demands the aid God has placed within reach? Sin whispers that medicine is unnecessary, that their own judgment is above all, and this pride leads to a contempt that fears nothing, not even the destruction of their own child. Break that delusion with the truth spoken in love.

Pray without ceasing, then, and do not grow weary. And as you pray, also seek out the wise counsel of those who understand these afflictions of the mind. God often heals through the hands of others. The days ahead may be long, but Today is still granted; while she lives, the door of mercy stands open.
