Travel and Things

Beloved of All
I hope for a decent day, today. Hope my mum ### isn’t a jerk. Hope to go out of town, today; hope the weather is decent; hope it doesn’t rain or snow at the wrong times. Have blue medical scooter, hope it still works, it’s getting old, and hope nothing happens to the battery and its charger. Help my dad ### be well enough to do things and help us have enough time to do things.

We are joining with you in prayer for this day and for all the things weighing on your heart regarding travel, weather, your scooter, and your parents.

We notice you expressed hope that your mum would not be a jerk, and we want to gently and lovingly address this. God calls us to honor our parents even when we feel frustrated or hurt by them. We are told in Exodus 20:12, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and again in Ephesians 6:2-3, Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth. Speaking of your mother in a dishonoring way does not align with this principle, and we encourage you to bring your frustrations to the Lord and ask Him to help you see her with grace and to pray for her rather than label her. We also want to lift her up with you, that God would soften any tension between you and give you both patience and kindness toward one another today.

We hear your hopes for going out of town, for decent weather without rain or snow at the wrong times, for your blue medical scooter to keep working and for its battery and charger to hold up, and for your dad to be well enough and for you all to have enough time. It is understandable to feel anxious about these details, especially when you depend on that scooter and when your dad's health affects what you can do. Scripture reminds us in Philippians 4:6, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and in Matthew 6:34, Each day's own evil is sufficient. We are also reminded that the weather and our days are in God's hands, for He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust in Matthew 5:45, and we ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will live, and do this or that in James 4:15. We can trust Him whether the day goes exactly as we hope or not, knowing He works for our good.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share why that matters. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we have not yet put our trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we can come to Him in faith, believing He died for our sins and rose again, and we can call upon His name to be saved and to have our prayers heard.

We now pray together for you.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. We ask for Your hand over this day, that whether it is considered decent in our eyes or not, it would be filled with Your peace and purpose. We ask for safe travel as they hope to go out of town, and we pray Psalm 121:8 over them, that You will keep their going out and their coming in. We ask You to govern the weather according to Your perfect will and to give them grace whatever the sky brings.

Lord, we pray for their blue medical scooter, for the battery and the charger. You know how much they rely on it and that it is getting old. We ask You to provide for their needs according to Philippians 4:19, that You will supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and to keep this equipment working as long as it is needed. Give wisdom for its care and provision for any future repair or replacement.

We lift up their dad to You, asking for strength and health for him today. We pray as in 3 John 1:2 that he may prosper and be in health, and that You would sustain him and grant you all enough time and energy to do what needs to be done. Teach us to number our days and to redeem the time as in Psalm 90:12 and Ephesians 5:16, trusting You with our schedules.

Above all, we pray for their relationship with their mum, that You would bring honor, forgiveness, and love into that home, and that any irritation would be replaced with understanding and respectful words. Help them to honor their parents as You command.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We are joining you in prayer for today. We hear how many little pieces have to come together for it to feel decent and doable, the weather cooperating, the trip out of town going smoothly, your blue scooter holding up, and having enough time and health on your dad's side to get things done. It makes sense that would feel heavy to carry.

We also hear your hope about your mum. Wanting the day not to be marked by tension at home is a real and understandable desire, and we are praying for gentleness and calm between you both today.

One small thing that might ease some worry is a quick check tonight if you can. Make sure the scooter is on the charger and the light shows it is charging, and take a quick look at the hourly forecast for when you plan to be out. Giving yourself a little extra margin in the timing can also take pressure off if something runs slow.

We are asking God to give you steadiness today whatever the weather or timing brings.

Father, we lift up this day to You. We ask for safety on the road, for the scooter and its battery to work well, for decent weather for travel, for strength for his dad and peace at home with his mum. Give him calm and enough time for what needs to be done. In Jesus' name, amen.

How good it is that the Lord takes notice of the small things which checker our daily life, for He is Emmanuel, God with us, not only in great trials but in common things, on Monday and Tuesday as well as on the Sabbath. To have God with us is exquisite delight and inspires hope and confidence, for He has reconciled us to Himself by the death of His Son, and now invites us to blessed communication with Him.

It is the daily habit of the believer to commune with his God and to make Him his confidant in all things, to declare his ways unto Him knowing that He hears, and then to say, teach me Thy statutes. You have done well to bring these cares before Him, for we are taught to pray give us this day our daily bread, and we cannot go an inch in the pilgrimage to Heaven without God.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou art light and in Thee is no darkness at all, and Thou seest all our ways. We thank Thee that through Jesus Christ alone we have peace with Thee and access with boldness into Thy grace, for there is no other name by which we may come. Grant to this dear soul simple faith to have power with Thee, to tell Thee of all needs and to find them supplied according to Thy mercy.

We bring before Thee this day and this going out of town. Thou rulest the weather and the seasons, and not a drop of rain nor a flake of snow falls without Thy leave. Grant decent weather in Thy wisdom, and keep this traveller in safety. We ask Thy care over the scooter and its battery and charger, which are getting old. Thou hast made every creature and Thou sustainest our frames and our helps, give continuance to what is needed for daily movement.

We remember also father and mother. Thou hast commanded honour and love within the home. Grant healing and strength to father that he may be well enough to do things, and grant patience and peace in the home, that harsh words may be put away and kindness may abound. Help mother and child to walk humbly with Thee and with one another, remembering that Thou dwellest with him who is of a humble and contrite spirit. Give enough time for all that Thou wouldst have done, and teach us not to worry while sitting up late, but to leave matters with Thee who givest Thy beloved sleep, for they labour in vain who build without Thee.

Keep this soul in fellowship with Thee, that whether the day be fair or cloudy there may be inward peace, for if Thou art for us who can be against us, and if Thou art at peace with us it matters little who else contends. Let there be honest dealing with Thee, confessing sin and finding the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing from all sin, and walking in the light as Thou art in the light.

We wait for Thee in the way of Thy judgments, trusting Thy faithful and merciful nature. Let Thy presence sanctify this day and make it useful, and let the watchword upon the heart be, the best of all is God with us. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
