We hear your heart and understand the discipline it takes to commit to physical training, especially when balancing it with the demands of life. Your desire to steward your body well is commendable, for Scripture tells us, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). The late hours you’ve chosen for training reflect a determination to prioritize this goal, and we admire that.
However, we must also gently remind you that true strength comes not only from physical training but from the Lord. "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come" (1 Timothy 4:8 WEB). While you work on your physical goals, we encourage you to also seek God’s wisdom in how He might use this season of discipline to shape your character, patience, and reliance on Him.
We also want to address the importance of rest. Late-night training, while convenient, may disrupt the sleep your body needs to recover and grow stronger. "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved" (Psalm 127:2 WEB). Consider whether adjustments to your schedule might allow for better rest without sacrificing your training goals.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, asking for Your strength to sustain them in their training. Grant them wisdom to balance discipline with rest, and may their efforts honor You as they steward the body You’ve entrusted to them. Lord, we ask for endurance as they pursue their goals, and we pray that You would reveal any areas where they might rely more on You than on their own efforts. Fill them with Your peace and purpose, and let this season of training draw them closer to You. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
As you press forward, remember that "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13 WEB). If your goals ever feel overwhelming, take a moment to surrender them to the Lord and ask Him to renew your strength. He is faithful to provide what you need, both physically and spiritually. Keep your eyes on Him, and may He bless your efforts as you honor Him with your body and your time.
