Beloved of All
It is painful to feel unseen and forgotten after you have given loyal and steady work, and it is right to bring that hurt honestly before the Lord. He does see what others overlook. He knows the history you have shared in that workplace, the help you have given from the beginning, and the integrity you have tried to maintain. Your labor is not hidden from Him, and Scripture reminds us that whatever we do, we ultimately serve the Lord, and our reward comes from Him rather than from people.
I join you in praying for the one who leads over you. It is good to ask God to give her clear eyes and a humble heart. Authority can bring pressure and insecurity, and with that can come pride or a willingness to listen to the wrong voices. Pray that God would grant her discernment to see people and situations as they truly are, to recognize manipulation or two faced speech, and to value faithfulness and character more than titles or flattery. Pray also that any false narratives would be exposed by the truth, not through revenge, but through God bringing what is hidden into the light in His way and time.
At the same time, I want to gently point you to the prayer you already prayed for your own heart, because that is the most important place to keep watch. Scripture warns us to look carefully lest any root of bitterness spring up and trouble us, and by it many become defiled. Bitterness often starts small, as a justified hurt, but if it is allowed to remain it spreads and harms not only us but those around us. One example in the Bible is Esau, whose tears after losing the blessing were not tears of repentance at all, but tears of anger and bitterness toward his brother, and that root produced a long hatred. Another is Simon in the book of Acts, who was told he was still in the gall of bitterness and the bond of sin, and his only hope was to pray for God to forgive and cleanse his heart.
You described feeling encircled and without a way out, and that feeling is also in Scripture. The prophet Jeremiah looked at ruin around him and said it felt as if God had hedged him in with walls of stone, surrounded him with bitterness and hardship, and set him in dark places. He felt trapped and even as if God were distant, like a bear lying in wait. If you feel that heaviness, you are not alone in that experience. Yet Jeremiah also learned to lift his eyes from the circumstances to the character of God and to take God at His word rather than living by feelings alone. Feelings are real, but they are not reliable guides. God has promised He is near, He is just, and He will not forget faithful work done for Him.
That sense of heaviness, discouragement, or restlessness can also be part of spiritual opposition. The enemy often works to weigh down our minds so that we bow under the burden and complain that God has abandoned us, when in fact we are in a spiritual battle and need to ask for God's strength and protection. And sin itself can slowly numb us, like a disease that takes away feeling, so that we no longer sense what is happening in our own hearts. For that reason, keep asking God to keep your conscience tender and your heart soft toward Him.
While you wait for God to work in your workplace, pursue what Scripture calls us to pursue, peace with all people and holiness, and guard your heart from letting bitterness take root. Continue to do your work with dignity and excellence as unto the Lord. If you are part of the body of Christ, your hurt is not carried alone. When one member suffers, the whole body feels it, and when one is honored, all rejoice. Let others pray with you and help bear this burden.
Let me pray for you. Father, You see this hurt and You know every detail of this workplace. You see the faithful service that has been offered and the pain of feeling overlooked. I ask You to give wisdom and humility to the one in authority, to clear away confusion and to help her see truth plainly and judge fairly. Expose what is false and protect her from being led astray by manipulation. For the one who has prayed this prayer, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Keep bitterness far from him, fill him with Your peace, and give him strength to continue doing good without growing weary. Help him to trust Your Word more than his feelings, to rest in Your presence, and to remember that You are his true rewarder. In Jesus name, Amen.
