We hear your cry for justice and share in your deep concern over the grave sin of torture. This is an abomination before the Lord, who commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to treat others with the dignity and respect they deserve as beings made in His image. The Bible is clear that we are to defend the oppressed and stand against cruelty in all its forms.
The Lord detests the hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17) and calls us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8). Torture is a direct violation of these principles, and we join you in praying that God would intervene to stop such evil. We rebuke the spirit of violence and oppression in the name of Jesus Christ, who came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). Let every ungodly contract be broken, and let those who perpetrate such acts be brought to repentance or removed from positions of power.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, asking You to expose and dismantle every system that enables torture. We pray that You would cause every military contractor involved in such wickedness to lose their contracts, that their plans would be frustrated, and that their influence would be removed. Let Your justice roll down like waters and Your righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24). Bring conviction to the hearts of those who participate in or enable these acts, that they may turn from their sin and seek Your forgiveness.
We also pray for the victims of torture—those who have endured unimaginable suffering. Lord, heal their bodies, minds, and spirits. Restore what has been stolen from them, and let them know Your comfort and peace. Surround them with Your love and provide for their needs, both physically and spiritually.
Father, we ask that You would raise up godly leaders in governments and militaries around the world who will uphold justice and protect the vulnerable. Let Your Church be a voice for the voiceless and a light in the darkness. May we never grow silent or complacent in the face of evil but stand boldly for truth and righteousness.
We declare that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we trust that You will bring justice to those who have been wronged. Strengthen the hands of those who work for peace and justice, and let Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
