Beloved of All
Your honest cry for a better life is heard, and the heaviness you feel is real. When life feels empty or too hard, it is natural to think that if you only had more of something, more money, a better background, a different appearance, a new situation, then life would finally feel full. Yet those things never satisfy the deepest part of you, and chasing them only leaves a person more discouraged and empty.
The Bible explains why. Real life, the kind that has meaning and purpose and hope, is found in Jesus Christ. Scripture says that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son, and whoever has the Son has life. Apart from Him, life is lived on only a physical and mental level, and the spirit remains without life. That is why a person can have many outward things and still feel that life is vain, like a shadow that quickly passes. One writer in the Old Testament searched for meaning apart from God in wisdom, pleasure, work and riches, and his conclusion was despair, even saying that the day of death seemed better than the day of birth. That is the end of reasoning that leaves God out. It shows us what life becomes without Him.
Nothing is too hard for God, and He has not left you to find your way alone. He knows you better than you know yourself, and He knew your needs before you were even born. He has already provided everything you need for a life that pleases Him and that is truly alive, through knowing Him. He has given great and precious promises in His Word, and He has given His Holy Spirit to give you power to live a new and victorious life, because you cannot do it in your own strength.
That new life comes when the Word of God is planted in your heart like a seed. The Bible speaks of being born again not by a seed that perishes, but by the living and lasting Word of God. When that Word takes root, it brings spiritual life and then bears fruit in you, a desire for what is pure and holy and right. God calls His children to a life set apart, not shaped by the old cravings of the flesh, but led by the Spirit. The way of thinking that is controlled by the flesh brings death, but the way of thinking that is controlled by the Spirit brings life and peace and joy.
This hope is not a wish. It is a living hope because Jesus rose from the dead. Because He lives, you can have a new life now and the promise of eternal life to come. The old life can be counted as buried with Christ, and you can rise to walk in newness of life with Him.
If you are longing for a better life, turn to Jesus Himself and invite Him to be your life. Ask Him to forgive you and to give you that new birth through faith in Him. Open the Bible and let God speak to you and plant His Word in you each day. As you come to know Him more, His grace and peace will grow in your life. Learn to set your mind on the things of the Spirit and to trust the Holy Spirit for power in the moments you feel weak. And bring your cares to Him. Life in this world is filled with cares that weigh you down, but you can cast all your care upon Him because He cares for you. He invites you to place your situation in His hands and trust Him to work His good will.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make your life rich in faith and filled with His truth. He is able to give you the better life you are longing for, not a life built on outward changes, but a life made new from the inside by His Son.
