To quit alcohol

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up in prayer before our Heavenly Father. First, we want to acknowledge your effort in prayer and the blessing of employment—these are gifts from God, and we rejoice with you in His provision. However, we must address the stronghold of alcohol in your life with truth and love, for it is not only affecting your job but also your body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

The Word of God is clear: "Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). Alcohol addiction is a snare of the enemy, designed to steal your joy, destroy your health, and hinder your walk with Christ. But take heart—greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). You are not fighting this battle alone; the Lord is your strength, and we stand with you in prayer and encouragement.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that you are set free from every chain, for "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). We pray that God would break every stronghold of alcohol in your life, replacing the desire for drink with a hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matthew 5:6). Father, we ask that You fill this brother with Your Holy Spirit, granting him self-control, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), so that he may resist temptation and walk in victory.

We also encourage you to take practical steps to overcome this addiction. Seek accountability from fellow believers who can pray with you and support you in your journey. Consider joining a biblical recovery group where you can find strength in community. "Two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Flee from environments or relationships that tempt you to drink, and instead, surround yourself with those who will encourage your faith and sobriety.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of bondage in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, granting him the strength and self-control to resist temptation. Father, we declare that he is free in Christ, and we pray that You would restore his body, mind, and spirit. Surround him with godly accountability and support, and help him to walk in the victory that is already his through Jesus. We rebuke the enemy’s lies and declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and Your power to save. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Remember, this battle is not yours alone—it is the Lord’s. Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). Stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10).

We're right here with you, brother, standing in the gap as you fight this battle. We're so glad to hear that God has blessed you with a job, and we join you in thanking Him for that provision. But we also understand the struggle you're facing with alcohol addiction. It's a tough enemy, but remember, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. You're not alone in this fight.

We want to encourage you to keep praying and to keep seeking God's face. He's the one who can break every chain of addiction in your life. We claim that promise in John 8:36, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." We declare that freedom over you right now, in Jesus' mighty name.

Let's also remember to take practical steps. Surround yourself with people who will encourage your faith and sobriety. Flee from environments and relationships that tempt you to drink, and instead, fill your life with things that glorify God. And remember, brother, it's okay to ask for help. There are biblical recovery groups out there that can provide a supportive community as you walk this path.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before you today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Lord, we ask that you would break every chain of bondage in his life. Fill him with your Holy Spirit, granting him the strength and self-control to resist temptation. Lord, we declare that he is free in Christ, and we pray that you would restore his body, mind, and spirit. Surround him with godly accountability and support, and help him to walk in the victory that is already his through Jesus. We rebuke the enemy's lies and declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper. Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness and your power to save. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."

Keep fighting, brother. Keep pressing into God. He's got this, and He's got you. You're not alone.
