Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We rejoice with you in this deep longing for the fullness of God, for His Holy Spirit, His ways, His love, intimacy and reverent obedience, and we join our faith with yours as you have so beautifully asked, sought and knocked.

We thank God with you for His precious and magnificent promises, for it is written in 2 Peter 1:3-4 that His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and virtue, by which He has granted to us His precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature. We agree that these promises are applied through faith and perseverance, for without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to Him, Hebrews 11:6, and we are to be imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises, Hebrews 6:12.

We love your hunger for the Word and for knowing Him intimately. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, Matthew 5:6. As the deer pants for the water brooks, so our soul pants after God, Psalm 42:1. We pray together that the Father of glory may give to us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of our hearts enlightened, that we may know what is the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to that which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and made Him to sit at His right hand, Ephesians 1:17-20. We thank Him that this same power that declared Jesus to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead, Romans 1:4, is at work in us who believe, and that being exalted at the right hand of God He has poured out His Holy Spirit as at the beginning, Acts 2:32-33, Acts 2:1-4.

We join you in praying for a growing hunger for Scripture, that we would desire the pure milk of the Word that we may grow thereby, 1 Peter 2:2, and that we would treasure His words more than our necessary food, Job 23:12, for man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3. May the Lord open our minds that we may understand the Scriptures, Luke 24:45, for the unfolding of Your words gives light, Psalm 119:130, and the secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us, Deuteronomy 29:29.

We also pray with you for protection from the world, the flesh and the devil, for we know that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one, 1 John 5:18, and we ask that we would not love the world or the things that are in the world, 1 John 2:15, but that we would present ourselves as dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus, Romans 6:11, and that the Lord would guard us from the evil one, John 17:15, Matthew 6:13. We ask for the ongoing conviction and teaching of the Holy Spirit, for He will convict the world about sin, about righteousness and about judgment, John 16:8, and He will guide us into all truth and declare to us things that are coming, John 16:13.

We pray for the fullness of the Holy Spirit in our lives, that we would not be drunk with wine wherein is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18, and walk in the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23. We ask for practical wisdom, for if any of us lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him, James 1:5, and that we would seek wisdom as for hidden treasures, Proverbs 2:1-5. We ask for love for God and for our neighbor, for You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself, Mark 12:30-31, Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Leviticus 19:18, and that our love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, Philippians 1:9.

We agree with you for contentment and protection from the love of gold, impurity and glory, for godliness with contentment is great gain, 1 Timothy 6:6, and we pray that we would delight ourselves in the Lord, Psalm 37:4, and seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that our Father knows what we need and will supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:33, Matthew 6:11. We ask that we may grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men, Luke 2:52, as we follow Christ who humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross, and whom God highly exalted, Philippians 2:5-9.

So with thanksgiving we make our requests known to God, Philippians 4:6, trusting that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7, and we ask all these things in the name of Jesus, for whatever we will ask in His name He will do, John 14:13-14, and in Him all the promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Corinthians 1:20, who became to us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 1 Corinthians 1:30. We thank You Father in advance, believing that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we receive, Mark 11:24, and we look for the blessed hope and the building of Your called out ones, Your Body and Your dwelling in the Spirit, Ephesians 2:19-22, 1 Corinthians 3:16, living stones built upon Christ the cornerstone, 1 Peter 2:5-6, awaiting the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, where we shall be with You forever, Revelation 21:2-3. Draw us near to You as we draw near to You, James 4:8, and keep us in reverent obedience until You come quickly. Amen.

We are so encouraged by the hunger you expressed for more of God Himself, not just His gifts but His presence, His ways, and a life of loving obedience. That kind of longing honors Him, and we are grateful to stand with you in it.

What you described is a lifelong walk more than a single moment. The Spirit works in us through His power, through His truth, and through His fruit, and those three belong together in balance. Power without truth or love can mislead, but when we stay rooted in truth and let love mature, the Spirit shapes us steadily into Christlikeness.

One thing that has helped many who share your desire is to think of spiritual growth as training rather than trying. Like preparing for a long race, small faithful steps over time matter more than intense bursts. You might choose one simple, sustainable practice for this season, perhaps a short unhurried time each day to listen to Scripture and pray honestly, not as a duty to earn anything but as a way to stay open to the Spirit who is already at work in you. As you do, He can deepen discernment, wisdom, and the fruit of love, joy, peace and the rest in daily life.

Father, we bring our brother before You with thanksgiving for his hunger for You. Fill him afresh with Your Spirit, lead him into Your truth, guard him from the world, the flesh and the enemy, and form Christlike character in him day by day. Give him joy in Your Word, wisdom for practical needs, and a growing intimacy with You that overflows in love for others. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer breathes a holy hunger which itself is evidence of the Spirit's gracious work within you, for flesh cannot transform itself into spirit, and no man can reveal the Holy Spirit but the Holy Spirit Himself. God can only be seen in His own light, and that light is already shining upon your desire for His fullness, His ways, and reverent obedience.

It is a sacred intimacy to which you are called. Our Lord said, You know Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you. This is not to have read about Him in the Scriptures only, but to know Him as a present indweller. What a distinct advance it is when the child of God rises from the Spirit being with him to the Spirit being in him, abiding there to the end, the very reliance of the soul for perseverance in divine grace. Because Jesus lives, you shall live also, for the same power which raised Christ from the dead dwells in His people.

You do well to ask, seek and knock, for the Holy Spirit is the Author of all spiritual life. Until He visits us we are dead in trespasses and sins, and though a man may preach to thousands or read all the puritan divines, he is still in the dark unless the Spirit shines upon his soul. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed, is a vital question, for no faith is genuine which does not bear the seal of the Spirit, and faith which does not bring holiness with it is a dead faith which will never bring us into communion with the living God. In Him there is a spirit of consolation for the anxious heart, and a spirit of enlightening to take of the things of Christ and declare them unto you. He shall glorify Christ, and where He has been at work He must and shall glorify Him. Therefore live in the Holy Spirit, give yourselves up fully to His divine anointing, and you will not have to say, I hardly know whether there be any Holy Spirit.

Take care also that you grieve not that blessed Spirit, for He is the Spirit of holiness to be spoken of with delight yet with trembling. Pride and that murmuring, rebellion, unbelief and self seeking which pride leads to grieves Him, for He dwells with those who are humble and of a contrite spirit. Bitterness in the heart, neglect of souls, love of the world, the flesh and the deceiver, all these straiten us and cause the Spirit to withdraw His sensible presence. Let your daily cry be, Return, O Holy Spirit, return and dwell in my soul, and be much in prayer, much with earnest saints, and much under a faithful ministry.

We join you then in praying in the Holy Spirit, not mocking God with a solemn sound upon a thoughtless tongue, but with a heart that agonizes and heaves with strong desires as He directs. We ask with you for a true hunger for the Word, that it may be as bread to you, sweeter than honey, desired morning and evening. We ask for insight into the Scriptures and the ways of God, for practical wisdom, for provision according to His riches, and for that love which is the fulfilling of the law, to love the Lord with all the heart and your neighbor as yourself, with all the fruit of the Spirit in increasing measure. We ask for protection from the world, the flesh and the devil, and from those snares you name, gold, girls and glory, that you may be kept in contentment with God, growing in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man, even as you imitate the Lord Jesus.

May the Lord grant you perseverance to inherit the precious and magnificent promises, which are all Yea and Amen in Christ, through whom alone is salvation, righteousness, holiness and redemption. May He keep you in holy unity and humble dependence, that without Him you would attempt nothing, and with Him you may do exploits for God and bring glory to His holy name. We thank Him in advance that He hears those who ask according to His will, and we commend you to Him who is building His Church, His called out ones, His dwelling in the Spirit, looking for that holy city where nothing impure shall enter, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

May the peace of God which passes all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and may the Spirit Himself bear witness with your spirit that you are born of God, till He comes quickly.
