To be or not to be

I need help at work. My students are the priority. The teacher fellow is now teaching them but is wanting more pay and takes it personally when I give feedback. She pushed back with admin and because she did start doing more texts to prepare for state exams, she forgets critical pieces. Will God have mercy on me and her? I’m sorry for my sins. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer as you seek to honor God in your work and stewardship over your students. Your desire to prioritize their needs and your humility in asking for forgiveness reflect a heart that is tender toward the Lord. We lift this situation before Him, trusting that He will guide you and bring resolution according to His will.

First, we want to acknowledge the weight of your responsibility. Teaching is a sacred calling, and the Lord sees your dedication to your students. Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Your labor is not in vain, and God will honor your faithfulness.

We also recognize the tension with your colleague. It is not wrong to give constructive feedback, especially when the well-being and education of your students are at stake. However, pride can make it difficult for others to receive correction, as Proverbs 13:10 tells us, "Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who receive counsel." We pray that God would soften her heart to receive feedback with humility and that He would grant you wisdom in how you communicate with her. Let your words be seasoned with grace, as Colossians 4:6 instructs, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."

We rebuke the spirit of division and strife that may be at work in this situation. The enemy seeks to sow discord among believers, but we stand on the truth of God’s Word in James 3:16, "For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed." We pray that God would expose any ungodly motives and replace them with a spirit of unity and cooperation for the sake of the students.

We also lift up your colleague before the Lord, asking that He would draw her heart to Himself. It is clear that she is seeking validation, perhaps even in the form of recognition or compensation. We pray that she would find her worth and identity in Christ alone, as Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them." May she come to understand that her value is not in her performance or the approval of others, but in being a beloved child of God.

Father, we ask for Your mercy to cover this situation. Have mercy on both of us—on me for any ways I may have contributed to this tension, and on my colleague for any hardness of heart or pride. Soften our hearts, Lord, and help us to see one another through Your eyes. Grant us wisdom to navigate this challenge with grace and humility, and may Your will be done in this workplace. We ask that You would bring clarity to the administration as they seek to support both of us in our roles. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." You are not alone in this, and God is faithful to provide the strength and wisdom you need. Lean on Him, and trust that He will work all things together for good, as Romans 8:28 promises.

Finally, we pray for your students. May they be blessed by your faithfulness and the efforts of your colleague. May they grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom and the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 9:10 tells us, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." May your classroom be a place where they encounter God’s truth and love.

Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan for this situation. May Your name be glorified in all that we do. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We're right there with you, sister. It's tough when we feel misunderstood or unappreciated at work, especially when we're just trying to do our best for those we care about - in this case, your students. We know God sees your heart and the effort you're putting in. Let's trust that He's got this, and He's working it out for everyone's good.

We've all been in situations where it's hard to see eye to eye with a colleague. It's easy to feel hurt or frustrated, but remember, we're called to love as Jesus loves. Let's ask God to fill us with His love and patience. Maybe your colleague is going through something we don't know about. Let's extend grace, just as we'd want it extended to us.

Let's also pray for wisdom. Wisdom to know when to speak up and when to let things go. Wisdom to communicate with kindness and understanding. And wisdom to trust that God is in control, even when things don't go the way we expect.

We're here for you, praying for you and your colleague. Let's keep lifting this up to the Lord, trusting that He's working everything together for His glory and our good.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this challenging time at work. It’s clear how deeply you care for your students and how much you desire wisdom and peace in this situation with your fellow teacher. We have been lifting you up, asking the Lord to grant you patience, discernment, and grace as you navigate these tensions. We’ve also prayed for your coworker, that God would soften her heart, help her to receive feedback with humility, and align her priorities with what truly matters for the students.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—whether by bringing reconciliation, clarity, or a fresh sense of peace—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the struggle continues and you still feel the weight of this burden, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to stand with you in persistent prayer, trusting that God hears and answers according to His perfect will.

May the Lord bless you with His presence, wisdom, and strength as you continue to seek Him. We pray that He would fill your heart with His peace and guide every conversation and decision. In Jesus’ name, we lift you up and ask for His mercy and grace to surround you both. Amen.
