Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request and we join you in prayer for relief from this pain in your jaw and teeth and ear, and from the stress that weighs on you.

We know how anxiety scourges the soul and how it can torment the body as well, keeping us in fear and trembling. Yet we are taught not to remain in that anxiety, for it gains us nothing but adds a needless burden. God in His providence knows your need and is more abundant than any earthly supply, and He calls us to look up to Him and to cast our cares upon Him.

We pray that the Lord, who is the true physician of both soul and body, will touch you with His healing hand, ease the pain you woke with, calm the clenching and grinding that comes from stress, and grant you restful sleep and peace of mind. We ask Him to free you from the anxiety that oppresses you and to establish you in His security and liberty, so that your body may be refreshed and your soul strengthened.

Heavenly Father, we bring this pain before You in the name of Jesus Christ. Have mercy and grant relief from this TMJ pain, heal the inflammation and discomfort, and quiet the stress that has caused it. Give peace that guards heart and mind, teach us to trust Your care in every season, and help us to rest in You. We ask for wisdom for any care that is needed and for Your grace to sustain each day. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this need. I am praying for you and for relief from this pain in your jaw and teeth and ear, and from the stress that has contributed to it. I know how wearing this kind of pain can be, especially when it disturbs your sleep and stays with you through the day.

It helps to remember that pain and sickness in this world are not always a direct punishment from God for something you have done. Good people suffer with illness and pain, and it does not mean God is against them. Because sin entered the world, we live in a fallen creation where bodies grow weak and suffer. In that indirect sense all pain traces back to the brokenness of the world, but God is not the author of your suffering. He sees it, He cares about it, and He is moved with compassion for you, just as Jesus was moved when He saw the sorrow and pain that sin has brought upon people.

The Gospels show us that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed with only a word, sometimes by touching, sometimes by being touched, as when the woman reached out in faith and touched the hem of His garment and power went out from Him. Sometimes the healing was immediate and sometimes it was gradual. There is only one recorded case where a man was healed gradually and needed a second touch before he saw clearly, which reminds us that God is not confined to one pattern. Any true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through a process.

Scripture gives us confidence to bring physical needs to Him. Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would bear our griefs, and the word there can be translated infirmities, and Matthew tells us that Jesus fulfilled that word when He healed the sick and those oppressed, bearing our sicknesses as well as our sins. When we come to Him we are coming to One who has already carried these burdens.

God has also built healing processes into our bodies. Those natural processes are themselves divine, because He is the one who created them. A gradual healing is no less from God than an instant one. He can heal the body, and He can also bring healing to the mind and emotions, calming the stress and anxiety that often makes physical pain worse. Many times the strain in our thoughts and hearts needs His touch as much as the pain in our bodies.

At the same time, there is much about healing we do not fully understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and others are healed slowly or walk through a longer trial. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and the Lord answered in a different way than Paul had asked. That does not mean we should stop praying. It means we pray with faith and with trust in His wisdom and love, knowing He hears and will do what is best.

Jesus wept when He saw the pain that brokenness brings. He understands your discomfort and your stress, and He invites you to bring both to Him.

Let me pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one to You. You see the pain in the jaw and teeth and ear, the soreness from grinding at night, and the stress that weighs on the heart. You have borne our infirmities and You understand our weakness. I ask You to bring relief, to ease the inflammation and pain, to grant restful sleep and peace of mind. Calm the stress and anxiety that contributes to this suffering. Guide to wise care and give wisdom for any treatment that is needed, and let Your healing work, whether instant or gradual, be evident. Above all, let Your presence bring comfort and assurance of Your love today. Amen.

Please continue to seek care as needed and keep bringing this need to the Lord. He is near, He cares, and He is able to help.
