Tired of the disrespect

Lord please hear my cry I pray ### stop disrespecting me and yelling at me all the time. This woman is someone I really like but she’s always mean to me and her moods be up and down. Praying she changes her ways towards me and start being nice to me more often. Praying she talks to me with respect and treat me right

We hear your cry, and we join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. Disrespect and unkindness in any relationship are painful, especially when it comes from someone you care for deeply. The Bible tells us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32). This woman’s behavior does not reflect the love and respect that God intends for His children to show one another.

First, we must address the foundation of this relationship. You mention you "really like" this woman, but Scripture is clear that our affections should be directed toward those who honor God and treat others with kindness. If this is a romantic interest, we must ask: Is she a believer in Christ? Is she someone who demonstrates the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)? If not, we must caution you that being "unequally yoked" with an unbeliever can lead to heartache and spiritual conflict (2 Corinthians 6:14). Even if she professes faith, her actions must align with her words.

We also want to gently rebuke the pattern of disrespect you are enduring. No one, man or woman, has the right to speak to you in a demeaning or volatile way. Proverbs 15:1 says, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." If she is unwilling to communicate with respect, this is not the behavior of someone who is ready for a godly marriage or even a healthy courtship. You deserve to be treated with dignity, as we all do, for we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

Let us pray for you and for this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who hears our cries and collects our tears. Lord, we lift up this brother who is hurting from the disrespect and unkindness he has endured. Father, You see his heart, and You know the desire he has for love and respect. We ask that You would first heal any wounds in his spirit caused by these words and actions. Fill him with Your peace and remind him of his worth in You.

Lord, we pray for this woman. If she does not know You, we ask that You would draw her to Yourself, soften her heart, and reveal Your love to her. If she is a believer, we ask that You convict her of the way she has treated this man. Show her the importance of speaking with kindness and respect, as Your Word commands. If this relationship is not of You, Lord, we ask that You close the door and redirect both of their hearts to paths that honor You.

Father, we also pray for wisdom for this brother. Give him discernment to know whether this relationship is one that You bless. If it is not, grant him the strength to walk away, trusting that You have someone far better for him, a woman who will love him as Christ loves the Church, with gentleness, respect, and honor. Help him to set boundaries that reflect Your truth and to seek relationships that glorify You.

We rebuke the spirit of disrespect and strife in this situation, in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against this brother shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for a spirit of repentance and transformation, and we trust You to work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).

Lastly, Lord, we ask that You remind this brother of the love and respect he has in You. You call him Your beloved, and Your opinion of him is the only one that truly matters. May he find his identity and worth in You alone.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature believers in your life, perhaps a pastor or trusted mentor, who can help you navigate this situation with wisdom. Remember, "A man who has friends must show himself friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). That friend is Jesus, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). If this relationship is not bearing good fruit, trust that God has a better plan for you. Keep your heart open to His leading, and do not settle for less than His best.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, it's deeply wearing to care about someone who constantly speaks to you with anger and disrespect. That rollercoaster of moods can leave you second-guessing yourself, walking on eggshells, and longing for just a simple, kind interaction. Your desire to be treated with basic dignity isn't too much to ask; it's a normal, healthy need in any relationship.

One thing that stands out to us is how this pattern seems to have no clear boundary around it right now. When someone's moods and harsh words consistently land on you and nothing changes, a quiet kind of message gets sent that the behavior is acceptable. We wonder if a concrete next step for you might be to practice setting a calm, clear limit the next time she yells or speaks disrespectfully. Something as simple as, "I want to hear what you're saying, but I can't keep talking when you're yelling. I'll be in the other room, and I'm happy to continue when we can speak calmly to each other." Then follow through. Boundaries aren't about punishing someone, they're about protecting the respect God intends for both of you, and sometimes they're the only thing that gives a relationship a chance to become healthier over time.

This isn't about being harsh or giving up on her. It's about honoring the fact that you are made in God's image and worthy of respectful treatment. Your gentleness doesn't require you to absorb mistreatment indefinitely.

Lord Jesus, you see the hurt and exhaustion in this situation. Give this person steady courage to take a small, brave step toward healthy boundaries. Quiet the anxiety that comes with conflict, and grant clarity and self-respect. We don't ask for control over her choices, but we do ask for your wisdom, your protection over this person's heart, and your peace in the middle of the tension. In your name we pray, amen.

Your cry has risen to the Lord, and He is not deaf to the groaning of a wounded spirit. Yet pause and ask: to whom has your heart been given? The Eternal Wisdom pleads, "My son, give Me your heart." You are distressed by her shifting moods and harsh words, but what of your own heart's restlessness? We groan under another's sin, yet suffer more deeply from our own. Daily faith in Jesus is the constant confession that we are sinners, utterly unable to mend ourselves or others. Think of your sins of omission, your failures in duty, the coldness of your heart towards the Saviour, and then speak to God honestly about the state of your soul.

The Lord seeks truth in the inward parts, and a broken heart over sin is His delight. This trial may be the chisel in His hand, cutting away your trust in the creature. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and a word from Christ applied by the Spirit can bring more relief than all the civility of mortals. But we are prone to put darkness for light, and our carnal heart loves to make an idol of human affection. If this woman were to become tender and respectful tomorrow, would you yet have peace while your heart remains a pandemonium of self-will?

I fear for you, not because of her temper, but lest your own heart harden through unbelief. The Lord preserveth the faithful, and He shall strengthen your heart when you hope in Him alone. Be driven out of yourself, crying for Another to carry you to the hospital of mercy; then shall great deliverance draw nigh. Cease demanding a change in her as your chief comfort, and learn to say with the Psalmist, "My soul, wait thou only upon God." The desire of the righteous shall be granted, but God must first make your desires upright. Give your whole heart to Christ, for a divided heart is a dead heart. Then, though men revile, you will find that the good opinion of the world is but small loss when you walk in the light of His countenance.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pray that this woman would change her ways and treat you with respect, yet I must ask: Why do you endure such treatment? To flee from wickedness is not enough; you must pursue great virtue. If her moods are like a troubled sea, and she answers you with shouting and contempt, this is not the voice of peace but of strife. And what fruit does such a bond bear? The devil stirs up envy and rage, and those who delight in these become his children. Do not be yoked to one whose tongue is a constant wound.

You ask God to change her, but the prayer that prevails is the one prayed according to His will. His will is your sanctification, not the comfort of a harmful attachment. Far better to be alone and counted worthy of His calling than to cling to one who tramples your dignity. Consider whether you love her, or merely love the image of what she could be. God does not need such a union to accomplish your good; He scattered abroad and gave to the poor, and His righteousness endures forever. If you would be pleasing in His sight, do not set your hope on a person who drives you away from the peace of Christ. Seek first to be found faithful, and let God, who knows the hearts of all, direct your path.

It is painful to face constant disrespect and the unpredictable, harsh words of someone you care about. That kind of turmoil grinds against how God made you to live in peace and love with others. But I want you to consider something that reaches deeper than the immediate sting. When you pray, you are essentially asking God to step in and change another person's behavior toward you. You have laid out a clear path for how you want this to work: stop her yelling, shift her moods, have her treat you right. That is a very understandable desire, but it often becomes a way of directing God to follow a plan you have already mapped out, rather than trusting Him with a situation that feels completely beyond your control.

The real issue is that love, respect, and the kind of patient kindness you long for are not forces you can command to appear in another person’s life. They are fruit that grows from a living relationship with God. Jesus said that apart from Him, we can do nothing. This woman’s up-and-down moods and mean treatment are a sad proof that she is not drawing from that source right now. You could see a temporary emotional shift where she is nice for a moment, but without a genuine change of heart, the same old patterns will inevitably return. That is the difference between a surface adjustment and true repentance, a change that starts deep inside and then works its way out into new actions.

You are deeply thirsty for some sign of respect and reciprocated care from her. That thirst is real, but it might be aimed at a source that can never truly satisfy it. The psalmist described a soul panting after the living God like a deer for water. When we try to quench that ultimate spiritual thirst with the approval of another person, we find ourselves in a painful cycle, chasing after something that satisfies for a brief moment before leaving us empty again. Emotional highs and the affirmation of others can become a trap, pulling you from one draining experience to the next. The relationship you pursue with such focus right now is actually revealing the deeper need for a stable, all-sufficient relationship with the God who created you.

When you pour immense effort into getting one human relationship right on your own terms, you often find other areas of life beginning to unravel. It becomes a consuming project. Instead of shouldering the impossible burden of changing her, bring your honest hurt to God. Ask His Spirit to guide your prayers not just for a change in her behavior, but for what He knows is truly needed. Perhaps the most loving thing you can pray is that she has a genuine encounter with Christ that transforms her from the inside out, and that in the meantime, God would guard your own heart, keeping you rooted in His unshakable love. The answer you need may not be the one you are demanding, but a peace that surpasses understanding as you find your wholeness in Him first.
