Good and Faithful Servant
I hear the deep weariness in your request, the longing for a change of scenery, for the sound of waves or the quiet of the mountains after years without a real break. That kind of exhaustion is real, and God knows our frame; He knows our need for seasons of refreshment. Even the land was given a Sabbath rest under the law, and Jesus Himself said the Sabbath was made for man. So I will gladly ask the Lord to open a door for you to travel, to find a place near the sea or in the hills where your body and mind can be restored.
But as I pray with you for that, I want also to remind you of a deeper rest, a rest that does not depend on location or circumstance. Scripture speaks of a rest that remains for the people of God, and we enter it not by getting away, but by believing. It is the rest of faith, where we cease from our own frantic efforts and simply trust that Christ has done all that is needed. When I am most drained, I find that my turmoil often comes from wrestling with things I cannot control. True peace settles in when I yield all that I am and all that I am facing into His hands. That rest is available right now, even before you pack a bag or see the shoreline.
My prayer for you is that God would provide a tangible opportunity for travel, a gift of time away to enjoy creation and catch your breath. But even more, I pray you would know Jesus as your Sabbath rest. He is the fulfillment of every shadow of rest in the Old Testament. Just as the ark eventually came to rest on the mountains, so your soul can come to rest in Christ, the refuge from every storm. May you find that place of quiet confidence, where the inner striving ceases, whether you are by the sea or at your own kitchen table. Let the Lord grant you rest in both ways, the outer and the inner, according to His generous provision.
