That does not mean that how we live does not matter. A life that is trusting in Christ will begin to bear fruit. Love, justice, mercy, honest speech, and care for others are not the way we become righteous, but they are the evidence and the effect of the righteousness we already have through faith. The mouth of the righteous becomes a well of life, and the labor of the righteous tends toward life. When we walk in that new relationship with Christ, our lives naturally bring forth what honors Him.
