This is my cousin ### and her mom. Please keep them in prayers. ### may be utopia for the weather but it is not (for us) utopia for pediatric medical care...
### and I returned from the Mayo Clinic with such high hopes. Excellent homeopathic suggestions, new medications. Hope...
Because of ###'s age the gastroenterology department was not able to see ###. It seems ### is the age required for medical malpractice insurance and ### is only ###. (Trying not to cry).
###'s Mayo neurologist firmly believes the Ulcerative Colitis and Diabetes Insipidus diagnosis are incorrect. He thinks ###'s symptoms are all part of her Dysautonomia. We had an appointment at ### yesterday with a "motility" specialist. ###'s intestines are clearly NOT moving food. ### has tried every laxative prescription or not, known to man and still ###'s stool backs up all the way to ###'s esophagus. This has happened three times. Imagine the pain. Imagine the bloating. Imagine not being able to swallow food because there is simply no more room in ###'s tiny tummy.
The "specialist" decided we should WAIT ANOTHER MONTH... Let's just see if this issue happens again... Let's not take the Mayo Clinic suggestion to be immediately evaluated for motility and ulcerative colitis. Let's wait until ### is in agony again. I swear this is actually what happened to us yesterday. ### did not even examine ###. Nothing. Now what? Where do we go? ###? ###? Fortunately ###'s Mayo clinician is looking for an alternative. We will go any where on Earth for answers.
### had a wonderful, wonderful day yesterday. Filled with friends, and sunshine. Unfortunately today the horrible pain has returned. The nausea. The god awful migraine. The weakness and fatigue.
I have faith the answer will come from the Mayo Clinic physicians. It is almost unimaginable that the pediatric health care system in ### has time and time again let us down. I had such hope. I had so much joy that ### was well on ###'s way to recovery. For now it seems, our journey to wellness continues.
