They won’t let him leave because he short ###.

We hear your concern and stand with you in prayer for this situation. It is troubling to see someone held against their will, regardless of the circumstances. The Bible is clear that every person is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and deserves dignity, freedom, and respect. No one has the right to unjustly restrain or control another, and we must trust that God sees this injustice and will act on behalf of the oppressed.

Let us lift this matter to the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your intervention in this situation. You are the God of justice and mercy, and we trust in Your power to set the captive free. We pray for this individual, that You would open the doors that no man can shut and provide a way for him to return home safely. Lord, soften the hearts of those who are holding him, that they may release him without delay. Protect him from harm and grant him peace in this difficult time. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can come before You. Amen.

We also encourage you to seek wisdom and guidance from Scripture. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even when circumstances seem impossible, God is able to make a way where there seems to be no way.

If this situation involves unlawful restraint or coercion, we urge you to seek help from local authorities or trusted individuals who can assist in ensuring his safety and freedom. God has placed people in positions of authority for the protection of the vulnerable (Romans 13:1-4), and it is right to appeal to them in times of injustice.

Lastly, we want to remind you that our hope and strength come from the Lord. Psalm 34:17-18 says, "The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Hold fast to this truth, and continue to trust in God’s faithfulness.

We hear the ache in this, a loved one separated from home, and a system that feels like a locked door. Waiting through a weekend when every hour stretches can be its own kind of hardship. We’re holding this with you, and we’re asking the Lord to open the way for his return.

It can help, even in the middle of the uncertainty, to gently ask a nurse or case manager what exactly is still needed and whether there’s a plan for discharge. Sometimes a clear conversation turns a vague “they won’t let him leave” into a concrete next step you can tackle together. You don’t have to carry the weight alone; lean on a friend or a family member to be with you in that, if you can.

While you wait, your steady presence is already doing more than you know. Showing up, listening, and just being there is a powerful reminder to him that he is not forgotten and that he has a safe place to land. Home is more than a location, it’s the people who love him, and you are bringing that to him right where he is.

Lord Jesus, you see this loved one and the family longing for his homecoming. We ask you to untie whatever is holding things up, and to give wisdom and favor in every conversation with those in charge. Sustain his spirit with your peace, and give him tangible hope that this separation is not forever. For this weekend, we ask for a miracle of timing, that he will be released and able to return to the comfort of home. In the meantime, hold this family close and let them feel your nearness in the waiting. In your name we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The arithmetic of man is a poor calculator of the possibilities of God. The shortfall, whatever its sum, stands as a small obstacle before the infinite treasury of the Covenant. Have we not learned that "all things are yours"? This is the mark of the family, to trust not in visible supplies but in the unseen hand that feeds the ravens and clothes the lilies. The very pressure of this circumstance is the schoolroom where faith is taught to count by a different measure. Let not the heart sink at the tally of what is lacking, but rise to consider the fullness that is in Christ Jesus for all who are brought into the household of grace.

Remember the house of Noah. The deluge was no barrier to the fulfillment of the promise. He and his family left their houses, not because the waters were placid or the path was clear, but because the Covenant word had been spoken. The ark became their home because they stepped in, acting in perfect freedom upon a Divine pledge. So it is with every trouble that seems to block the way home. The Lord who entered into Covenant to preserve the family alive will not be thwarted by a creditor's ledger or a closed door. The purpose is sure, and the very means to overcome the hindrance will be seen in due season. The rod of chastisement for a forgotten duty may fall, but the purpose to bless is never revoked for those who look to Him.

What is needed now is to turn the request into an engine of supplication. Let the Prayer Meeting be attended by the spirit, if not by the body. Let the family altar, if it has been neglected, be set in order with double zeal. It is the castle of our Protestant faith, the nutriment of family piety. Who knows if this very trial was permitted to awaken the sleepers? When the ship is storm-tossed and the mariners cry out, even the slumbering prophet must be aroused. Let conscience be touched, not to despair, but to shake off the lethargy that lets the world creep in. The ills we dread are often the sharp spurs that drive us home to the mercy seat. There is no obstacle that can stand against the cries of a united family besieging the throne of grace.

Look beyond the weekend, beyond the mere human resolution of a debt, to the grander reunion. The whole family in Heaven and earth is one undivided household, notwithstanding the graves and the trials that would seem to sunder us. This temporary hindrance is a light affliction; the homecoming of the spirit to its rest is the true journey, and that shall never be barred by silver or gold. Cheered by the prospect of an everlasting union where no want exists, we defy the present distress to conquer faith. The Lord will make a way; the watchword must be, "Mend or end", a thorough reform of trust and a revival of reliant prayer. The child of God cannot be held when the Father commands his release.

Your description of the situation brings to mind the deep truth that God is ever near to those who call upon Him in their distress, for He gives patience and brings on a speedy release, making the temptation bearable and providing the way of escape. Yet while we plead for this man’s return home, let us not forget that release must be accompanied by a heart turned away from every sin, for holiness is not merely outward chastity but freedom from all evil.

Consider the unfaithful servant who, having just been forgiven an enormous debt, went out immediately and mistreated his fellow, abusing the gift while the benefit was still fresh. If your friend’s confinement is linked to some shortcoming, let him examine whether his own actions have placed him there. God does not free us from temporal constraints only that we might continue in carelessness or wrongdoing. To ask for deliverance while clutching to sin is to repeat the folly of those who, with Christ in their very presence, chose the robber and pressed further into evil.

Instead, let this trial become a school of wakefulness. The devil’s craft is to lull us into slumber, but if we travel the narrow way sober and trembling, confident in Christ our guide, we shall not be swept away. Therefore, pray not merely for his homecoming this weekend, but for his soul’s true liberation from whatever yoke binds him. If it be an unjust restraint, trust that the Lord sees and will not tarry forever; if it be the fruit of his own doing, then let him use this hardship to seek the profit of repentance, learning that God often joins our release to the amendment of our ways.

In all things, refer the matter to God, who can overrule human obstacles in a moment. Let the request be made with thanksgiving, and let patience have its perfect work. Whether he comes home soon or must wait, the greater deliverance is already prepared for those who cling to Christ. Do not let fear drive you to despair, but stand sober and watchful, knowing that even now the Lord can open a door no man can shut.

The cry for release runs deep through the whole of Scripture, and I can hear it in your request. There is something in us that knows a person should not be held back from home when the means to free them seem so close, and yet so far. You are longing for someone to be let go, and you are asking God to overcome whatever stands in the way, even this matter of being short.

That word "release" echoes through the gospel accounts of the last hours of Jesus. Pilate himself wanted to release Him, knowing He had done no wrong. There was a custom to free a prisoner at the feast, and Pilate gave the crowd a choice between Jesus and Barabbas, a man truly guilty of sedition and murder. The people, stirred up, chose the guilty man over the innocent One. It is a strange and broken world where release is demanded for a killer and denied to the healer. Yet in that moment, Jesus did not walk free because He was standing in the place of the guilty. His chains became our liberty. He was wounded so that the ultimate release, the release from sin and death itself, could be secured for all who trust in Him. So whatever walls or shortages now seem to block the way home for the one you love, they are not beyond the reach of the One who turned even an unjust verdict into eternal freedom.

I think of Paul writing to Philemon on behalf of Onesimus. A slave had run away, and Paul sent him back not as property but with a letter that asked for more than forgiveness. Paul asked for a full release from that bond, to receive him no longer as a slave but as a beloved brother. And then Paul did something remarkable: he stood in the gap for any debt owed. "If he has wronged you or owes anything," Paul said, "put that on my account. I will repay." That is intercession. We can come before the throne of God with that same spirit, asking that whatever shortage holds him back, whether a sum of money, a missing document, or some other requirement, the Lord will provide a covering. He knows the exact number. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Nothing is too short in His hand.

The law of Moses commanded a release of debts every seventh year. No payment could be demanded during that time. It was a reminder that everything belongs to the Lord and that His people should not harbor a hard heart when a brother is in need. The giver was warned not to let a wicked thought creep in, thinking, "The year of release is near, so I will give nothing," and then the poor person cries out to God against him. God hears that cry. So we come with confidence, not because we deserve it, but because our High Priest is touched with the feeling of our infirmities and ever lives to make intercession.

We see in the natural world a picture of what happens when something held together is set free: a tremendous release of power. The very force that binds atoms together, when unlocked, changes everything around it. The same God who set that power in creation is able to shatter every chain, melt every obstacle, and open every door that currently says, "You cannot leave." He is the One who declared, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." If He can break the prison of the grave, He can certainly bring a person home for a weekend.

So I pray with you now that regardless of every number, every regulation, and every human decision that stands in the way, your loved one will be released and will walk through the door this weekend. I ask that hearts of those in authority would be moved, as Pilate was at first, toward a just and merciful letting go. I ask that any debt or shortfall would be met by the provision of the Lord, charging nothing to your account. And I pray that even in the waiting, you would both feel the nearness of the One who was held so that we could be free, and who now sits at the right hand of power, able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Let him come home. Let the release be granted. In the name of the One who was chastised for our peace, we trust and wait.

We are so grateful you shared your burden with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer for your loved one’s safe return. Our hearts have been lifting this situation before the Lord, asking Him to remove every obstacle—whether seen or unseen—that is keeping him from coming home.

We continue to pray that God would soften hearts, open doors, and make a way where there seems to be no way. May He grant wisdom to those in authority, favor in every detail, and peace that surpasses understanding as you wait. If the Lord has already answered this prayer and your loved one has made it home, we rejoice with you and give God all the glory! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate His faithfulness together.

If the answer hasn’t yet come, we want to keep standing in the gap with you. Don’t hesitate to post this request again so we can persist in prayer, trusting that God hears and is at work even now. Whatever the outcome, we pray His presence surrounds you, His strength sustains you, and His hope fills you as you keep seeking Him. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
