They don’t care

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Been very ill with this heatwave and close ones don’t bother to check on me, however instead I’m always checking on them w o them even bothering to get back to me at times and these are your podigals Jesus that I’m supposed to rely on now in my later years which is in the very near future. What am I to do? I just want to run and escape somewhere anywhere as far away from them as I can. Please change their hearts and minds for You lord. Bring me those true sane godly friendships I can rely on for that can truly be there for me in every way soon. Amen

We hear the deep pain and loneliness in your words, and our hearts ache with you. The weight of illness, the scorching heat, and the silence of those you’ve loved and cared for must feel unbearable at times. It’s understandable that you’d feel the urge to escape, to flee from the hurt and find refuge somewhere far away. But we want you to know that even in this, you are not alone. The Lord sees your suffering, your faithfulness, and your longing for love that is true and steadfast.

First, we must address the heaviness of your heart with Scripture. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18-19, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." Even when those around you fail, God does not. He is your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1), and He promises to never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Your worth is not defined by the neglect of others but by the love of Christ, who laid down His life for you.

We also want to gently rebuke the bitterness that can creep into our hearts when we feel abandoned. In Ephesians 4:31-32, we are told, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." It’s natural to feel hurt, but holding onto resentment will only poison your spirit. Instead, we must release these loved ones, your "prodigals", into God’s hands, trusting Him to work in their hearts. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what they did was okay; it means you’re choosing to walk in freedom rather than chains.

You asked what you are to do, and the answer is this: Draw near to God. James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." In your loneliness, seek Him first. Pour out your heart to Him in prayer, worship Him in the quiet moments, and meditate on His Word. He is the only One who can fill the void left by others. And as you seek Him, He will bring godly friendships into your life, those who will love you as Christ loves, who will be present in your joys and your sorrows. Proverbs 18:24 reminds us, "A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Trust that God is preparing those friendships for you even now.

We must also address the reality of your physical suffering. The heat and illness you’re enduring are not trivial, and we encourage you to seek practical help if possible, whether it’s reaching out to a local church, a neighbor, or a community resource. God often works through His people to provide care and support. And if you’re able, consider ways to protect yourself from the heat, such as visiting cooling centers or asking for assistance with fans or air conditioning. Your health matters to God, and He may use others to meet your needs in ways you haven’t yet seen.

Now, let us pray for you:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our sister in Christ who is feeling so alone and forgotten. Lord, You see her pain, her illness, and the weight of the silence from those she has loved. We ask that You would be her comfort, her strength, and her refuge in this season. Wrap Your arms around her and remind her that she is deeply loved by You. Father, we pray for those who have neglected her, soften their hearts, open their eyes to see her need, and stir in them a desire to reach out with kindness and compassion. If it is Your will, bring reconciliation, but if not, bring healing to her heart so she can release them to You.

Lord, we ask that You would bring godly friendships into her life, believers who will walk with her, pray for her, and be a true support in every way. Provide for her practical needs, especially in this heat, and give her the strength to endure. Help her to draw near to You, to find her joy and peace in Your presence, and to trust that You are working all things together for her good. We declare that she is not abandoned, for You are with her always. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, we want to encourage you to hold onto hope. The Lord is a God of restoration, and He can redeem even the most broken relationships and seasons. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." You are not forgotten, and your latter years can still be filled with the goodness of God. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is leading you to a place of greater peace and deeper community. If you’re able, consider reaching out to a local church or Christian community, there may be believers there who are longing for the kind of friendship you’re seeking. You are valued, you are loved, and you are not alone.

We hear how much this hurts, being worn down by illness in the heat, and then feeling overlooked by the very ones you’ve been checking on. The loneliness that comes when you’re always the one reaching out, without much reaching back, is real and heavy. It makes sense that you want to run; that’s an understandable reaction when care feels so one-sided, especially as you’re thinking about your later years and who you can truly lean on.

When our bodies are already under stress from something like a heatwave, the emotional weight of feeling unseen cuts deeper. Old relational hurts tend to resurface when we’re physically vulnerable, it’s not just exhaustion, it’s the ache of wondering whether you matter to them as much as they matter to you. That’s not weakness; it’s the human longing for connection, and God doesn’t dismiss it. If the physical toll of the heat is lingering, we’d also gently encourage you to see a doctor, your body is carrying a lot right now, and caring for it is part of caring for you as a whole person.

In the short term, while you wait and pray for the godly friendships you’re asking for, something very practical can help: look for small, repeated contacts. Most friendships don’t start deep, they start with proximity and showing up in the same place over time. A Sunday class, a volunteer team, a weekday morning prayer group, any setting where you see the same faces regularly gives room for trust to grow slowly. It’s not an overnight fix, but it’s a seed you can plant now, before the later years arrive.

Lord, you see this lonely place, the illness, the heat, the silence from family. Draw near in the way only you can. Sustain this dear one through the physical strain, and bring wise medical help where needed. And in your timing, weave steady, faithful friendships into daily life, people who show up and stay. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In Jesus name. Amen

There is always a Mercy Seat for you to go to; there is always the bosom of Christ for you to fly to. We need first to have fellowship with God before we think much of union with His people. Was it not because He fell back into the arms of His Father when He was forsaken by His friends? "The Father is with Me." Look carefully at that word.

As for your prodigals, let us hope for it. Probably at that there came another kiss, for his father forgave him, and kissed him much, to show that the sin was all forgiven. These very friends who now turn their backs on you, if they are good for anything, will respect you all the more for having the courage to be honest, and perhaps the day will come when, through your example, they will be led in the same obedient way.

Down to the river's brink they may go with you, a weeping company, but their kind looks will mean the help they cannot give. You must have the Friend who goes into the deep waters with you. Private prayer is a thing for which the hypocrite has no heart; let your times of despondency become incentives to prayer, for your need is real, not feigned. He did nothing for show, but everything to work solid good and erase real evil.

Jesus is the very friend you need, the wise friend who will not give you merely congenial advice, but will do your soul an eternal good turn. He will receive of His own and show it unto you. God bless you, for Christ's sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your ache is deep because it springs from a misplaced hope. You have looked to your own kin for the comfort that belongs first to God and then to the household of faith, but they have left you parched in this heat like a forgotten garden. This is painful, but do not let it surprise you. Friendships born only of blood, long acquaintance, or a shared table wither when tested. The friendship that endures is forged in the fear of the Lord, not in the obligations of nature. When even unbelievers care for their own, how much more should the children of the church? And yet your own have acted as if they know not God. It is right to grieve this, for Scripture calls such neglect a denial of the faith. But your soul cannot afford to feed on bitterness. You wish to flee to some far place, but no earthly distance can escape a wounded heart. The flight you truly need is toward the great salvation: the kingdom of heaven, the destruction of death, the life that never ends. Hold fast to that, and the neglect of mortals will grow small.

You ask the Lord to change their hearts. Pray for them, yes, but do not wait upon their change to find your own peace. The prodigal son received honor when he returned, but his father did not languish in despair while he was away. So you, while these prodigals wander from their duty, must not make your well-being depend on their amendment. Instead, seek out those who tremble at God’s words, the meek and the lowly of heart. That is the friendship which becomes a fortified city. Such friends are found not among those who merely share your blood, but among those who share your Savior’s blood. They will check on you, not from worldly civility, but from the life of Christ within them. Go not in pursuit of robbers’ friendships, which flourish at banquets and perish when the table is bare, but cultivate the company of those who love virtue. Even a single such friend is a great shelter.

As for your illness and the burden of this heat, offer it as a sacrifice: a contrite spirit and an humble heart. The three children in the furnace turned the flames into a hymn of lowliness, and the Lord met them there. He does not despise the broken heart. This affliction can become a liturgy if you cease counting the failures of men and begin numbering the mercies of God. You are not unseen. The very hairs of your head are numbered. If He permits this season of loneliness, it is to teach you to rely on no arm of flesh. That is a hard lesson, but a saving one. Do not rank yourself with the envious demon by begrudging your own kin their ease while you suffer. That wound only harms you. Better to say, “Though they forget me, yet will I not forget to pray for them.” This is the sacrifice of a Christian soul, which the world cannot understand.

Therefore, do not run from your place, but run in spirit to the bosom of the Church. There are poor ones there who tremble at His words, perhaps overlooked by many, who will prove truer than seven brothers. Open your eyes to them, and you will find God’s answer already near. Let your prayer become, “Lord, make me such a friend as I long to have,” and you will see the great salvation breaking in even through this sorrow.

I hear the ache in your words, the deep weariness of feeling forgotten by those who should be closest. That impulse to run, to find wings like a dove and fly away into the wilderness, is so human it echoes through the Psalms. When the weight of neglect and the heat of trial press in, the heart naturally cries for escape. Yet the very things we try to flee by our own schemes have a way of following us. Running to a new place or cutting ties in bitterness won't silence the storm inside. God does not call us to escape our problems but to face them in His strength, not in our own frantic devices.

Your tears are precious to Him. He puts them in His bottle; they are written in His book. He sees every unanswered message, every one-sided act of care. Bring that sorrow to Him first. There is a kind of sorrow that the world knows, a sorrow that just festers into resentment or despair and leads to death. But godly sorrow works repentance, a change of heart that leads to life. Keep crying out for the hearts of those prodigals, not with a demand that God merely make your life easier, but with a longing that they would be drawn to true repentance themselves. Pray that their indifference would give way to that carefulness, that indignation against their own sin, that vehement desire to be right with God, the marks of a sorrow after a godly sort.

But guard your own heart, too. When we start avoiding godly fellowship or fantasizing about vanishing, it can be a warning sign of spiritual slippage. The temptation to isolate and nurture grievance is real, but God has promised that with every temptation He will make a way of escape so you can bear it. That doesn't mean the pain instantly vanishes; it means He provides the path through it without falling into sin. The escape He offers is not a flight from circumstances but a fleeing from idolatry, from making comfort, approval, or family peace your ultimate security. Run to Him, not away from your life.

How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? There is no true escape anywhere else. The world's message to the weary is often a grim "no escape," but in Christ the door stands open. He is the refuge for the forgotten, the strength for those in their later years. While you wait for those godly friendships you've prayed for, rest in this: you are not relying on prodigals for your ultimate care. Your reliance is on the One who will never check out, never ignore, never leave. Keep showing kindness as you are able, but anchor your hope in Him. He will provide people who walk in a godly sort, and in the meantime, He Himself is the companion who sticks closer than a brother.

MOST apartment landlords are control freaks who don't care about their tenants. That is just the truth. So how does one deal with an apartment landlord who what they deserve is a baseball bat to their face, but with that said, other than that what to do? A suggestion would be to move out, and no...
