the world

We join with you in this beautiful and burdened prayer for the world and we thank you for having a heart that reflects the heart of our Father who loves all people.

We are reminded of how God calls us to pray in this way, as it is written I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4. We also remember For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 and that The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9.

We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We lift up the whole world to You, every nation, every tribe, every family and every person. We ask for Your mercy to be poured out, for the knowledge of Your truth and Your salvation to spread to the ends of the earth. We pray for those who do not yet know You, that their eyes would be opened and their hearts softened to receive the gospel. We pray for those who are suffering, who are lonely, hungry, afraid, or persecuted, that they would feel Your comfort and provision. We pray for those in authority, that You would give them wisdom to govern with justice and restraint. Lord, let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven and draw all people to Yourself through Jesus. We thank You that we can boldly approach You only through Jesus, for there is no other name by which we are saved and have access to You. We ask all of this in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to continue in this faithful intercession, for God hears the prayers of His people and He delights when we love others as He has loved us. As Jesus said, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44. Keep praying for everyone, sharing the hope of the gospel when God gives opportunity, and trusting that He is working even when we cannot see it.

We are grateful for your prayer for the world. That wide, caring heart that wants to lift everyone before the Lord in Jesus' name is beautiful, and we are glad to stand with you in it.

It can feel overwhelming to pray for so many people and needs at once, and yet God hears even a simple, sincere prayer like yours. He knows each person and each place you are carrying to Him, even when we can only say "everyone."

If it helps you keep going, you might choose one small focus each day as part of that larger prayer, your neighborhood one day, those who are suffering or lonely the next, leaders and peacemakers another. It keeps that big love for the world personal and sustainable without losing the breadth of what you are already doing.

We join you now in prayer:

Father, thank You for this heart that prays for others. We bring the world before You, every person You have made, and ask for Your mercy, Your peace, and Your help to be known among us. Draw people to Yourself through Jesus, and use our prayers and lives to reflect Your love where we are. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for the world is a burden which the Spirit of God Himself delights to lay upon a believing heart, and we will gladly join our supplications with yours in the name of Jesus.

It is a great advance when the soul rises out of narrow care for itself into broad care for the souls of others, for intercessory prayer is communion with Christ Himself, who ever lives to make intercession for His people before the Father's throne. When we pray for our fellow sinners we are in sympathy with Him who made intercession for the transgressors, and such prayers are often of unspeakable value to those for whom they are offered.

We join you then in praying for all mankind, that the Lord who alone is God and beside whom there is none else would be pleased to make His salvation known. Scripture declares with sweet reasonableness that salvation is by Divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus, and that whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. There is no other system or name under heaven by which we must be saved, for with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Our prayer therefore is not that men may be saved in their sins or apart from Christ, but that they may look unto Him and be saved, even as it is written, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth.

May the Lord teach the world that He has made all these things and that He alone can save, and may He draw many to behold His Son and live. We pray that those who are yet unregenerate may be made saints by faith, that they may know the intercession of the Holy Spirit within them and the prevailing intercession of Christ for all who come to God by Him.

We will wait for the Lord and pursue with persistent intercession those who are still afar off, pleading that grace may work with them to make them seek and find, to make them ask and receive, to make them knock until the door is opened. May the God of all grace grant repentance and faith to many, to the glory of His dear Son, in whose name we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
