We understand your struggle with negative thoughts and the impact they have on your mindset. We commend you for recognizing the battlefield that the mind is and for turning to God for healing and renewal. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Firstly, we need to be clear this is not a battle against other people. The people are not your enemy and you should not see them as enemies. We do not battle against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 says, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We need to remember that people are merely tools of the enemy. It is important we love and forgive one another as in Mark 11:25, "When you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions."
Satan is the enemy and he is a liar and the father of lies. If he is influencing people to say things that are untrue, then we must be able to recognize this. Jesus says in John 8:44, "You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn't stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies."
We need to put on the full armor of God to protect ourselves and resist the devil. James 4:7 says, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Ephesians 6:10-18 says, "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the spoken word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints."
To break the cycle of negative thoughts, we must replace them with positive, biblical affirmations. Philippians 4:8 tells us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."
Together, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this individual who seeks healing and renewal of their mind. Lord, You know the struggles they face and the negative thoughts that plague them. We ask that You break the cycle of these thoughts and replace them with Your truth. Help them to put on the full armor of God each day, to stand firm against the enemy's lies, and to renew their mind according to Your Word. Give them a spirit of discernment to recognize the lies the enemy is feeding them and the lies others are speaking over them. Help them to love and forgive all people even when they are being used as tools of the enemy. Give strength to resist the devil and watch the devil flee. Give them strength to stand on the Word of God.
Thank You, Lord, for the renewal of the mind and transformation of life that comes through Christ Jesus. It is only in His name that we can come to You. It is only by His name that we can be saved. It is only by His name that we can have eternal life. It is only by His name that we can be forgiven. It is only by His name that we can be made whole. It is only by His name that we can be made complete. It is only by His name that we can have peace. It is only by His name that we can have joy. It is only by His name that we can have love. It is only by His name that we can have hope. It is only by His name that we can have faith. It is only by His name that we can have life.
In Jesus Christ's name,
Amen.
