Many sins are mentioned in the Bible, but I would say that, certain ones are an original sin, from which others branch out. Like, the statement, "For the love of money is the root of all evil"."love", in that case, I don't think is meant as in love for one another,I'd say the money becomes an idol to them,{a sin in itself, idolatry}and so, other sins branch forth, like greed, and doing immoral things to make the money. BUT, when I think of THE number one "parent sin", right at the top of the list, I would have to say selfishness. Why?Well, I've heard of, but moreso, I've been on the heavy end of what selfish people do.Even greed can spring from selfishness, because the selfish person wants more and more for ...who?Why, themselves, of course!!Also, {and I've experienced this personally, and many times}since the selfish person makes themselves the more important person in interchange between themselves and others,if they do something that harms or puts another at an inconvenience, they don't care, and another selfish person will egg them on with a selfish statement.{"What do you care about them? Are you interested in them, or you?"}So the other sin that "branches forth" from the original sin of selfishness is a lack of conscience, since the selfish person justifies their actions by saying"there's something in it for me"{at the expense of someone else}Look at all the disputes that break out with family members after a loved one dies, because one is trying to get a bigger cut of the money than the other.Even Adam and Eve,when they ate the fruit, what was the main word the devil used?"YOU will be as gods, God knows YOU will be like Him, knowing good from evil".{Because self-centeredness is close to selfishness.}Even the devil himself, look how many times the word "I" is used,I will rise above the stars of Heaven, I will ascend to the Throne of the Most High,I, I, I.By contrast, Gods nature--"For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that all who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"{Amen.}So is selfishness one of the main sins, and many others branch forth from it?{Also, a sign of the fallen nature?}I would say so.
