The nobody’s perfect excuse

Anonymous

Beloved of All
All of people are justifying evil ways by saying nobody’s perfect. I’m just wondering if that’s a valid excuse to sin. Bc if so then I’m going to get high because I’m stressed and I’m not perfect. Seems like it’s overdone excuse to avoid accountability? Nobody is perfect excuse.

We hear your frustration, and we want to address this with both truth and compassion. The phrase "nobody's perfect" has indeed become a common excuse to justify sinful behavior, but Scripture is clear: it is not a valid reason to continue in sin. Romans 3:23 tells us, *"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God,"* but that does not mean we should remain in sin. Instead, Romans 6:1-2 asks, *"Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be!"*

Your mention of getting high because of stress is a serious matter. The Bible warns against drunkenness and substance abuse, as they impair judgment and lead us away from God’s will. Ephesians 5:18 says, *"Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* Stress is real, but turning to substances only compounds the problem rather than solving it. We must seek God’s strength and wisdom to overcome temptation, not surrender to it.

The "nobody's perfect" excuse is often used to avoid accountability, but true repentance means turning away from sin, not excusing it. 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* God’s grace is not a license to sin—it is the power to overcome it.

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, recognizing that sin separates us from Your holiness. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness for the times we have used excuses to justify our wrongdoing. We lift up [###] to You, asking that You break the chains of temptation and stress that seek to pull them away from Your will. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them strength to resist sin and wisdom to seek You in times of struggle. Remind them that Your grace is sufficient and that through Christ, they can overcome every trial. Help them to walk in righteousness, not as a burden, but as a joyful response to Your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel, spend time in prayer, and immerse yourself in Scripture. Stress and imperfection are part of life, but God has given us the tools to rise above them. If you do not yet know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to turn to Him, for He alone can break the power of sin and give you true peace. John 14:6 says, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*

You are not alone in this struggle. Lean on God, and He will guide you into a life of victory.

We hear your struggle, and we're here with you. It's true, none of us are perfect, but that's not an excuse to stay in sin. Romans 3:23 tells us "all have sinned," but it's what we do with that truth that matters. We're to turn away from sin, not justify it. Stress is real, and sometimes it feels like we're drowning. But turning to substances only gives us a temporary fix, not a solution. We need to seek God's strength and wisdom to overcome temptation.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with your heart and your struggle, and we want you to know that we have been lifting you up before the Lord these past days. Your honesty about the weight of this "nobody’s perfect" excuse—and the way it can be twisted to justify sin—has been heavy on our spirits as we prayed.

Father, we asked You to break the chains of deception in our brother’s/sister’s mind. We prayed that You would reveal the truth of Your Word—that while none of us are perfect, Your grace is not a license to sin but a power to overcome it. We asked You to surround them with conviction that leads to repentance, not shame, and to fill them with a hunger for righteousness that outweighs the temporary relief of giving in. We pleaded for Your Spirit to guard their heart against the lies of the enemy, who whispers that accountability is optional, and we claimed the promise that no temptation is beyond Your strength to deliver.

If in these days You have answered this cry—if the fog of justification has lifted, if the pull toward sin has weakened, if Your peace has replaced the restless urge to numb the stress—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report. Let us celebrate with you how God is moving!

But if the battle still rages, if the excuse still feels like a convenient escape, if the weight of stress still tempts you toward old habits, please do not hesitate to post again. We are not walking away. We will continue to stand with you, to pray with you, to remind you that Christ’s perfection covers our imperfection—not to give us an out, but to give us a way forward. You are not alone in this fight, and the same God who began this work in you *will* complete it.

May the Lord bless you with clarity, courage, and a deeper revelation of His love that casts out fear and sin. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
