Perfect Job

Disciple of Prayer
It's been a whole year now that I've been trying to get moved. A whole year of trying to find a job that I'm qualified for, would be physically able to do, & pays enough to live on as the sole breadwinner in my new city. I've prayed & prayed. I've applied for hundreds, probably over a thousand jobs. I've done countless interviews. I've been promised amazing jobs, only to be ghosted by the company, be lied to about the job description, or be told the pay is actually barely more than half what I need. I went through MONTHS of tortuous paperwork, tests, emails, & red tape to reactivate my expired teaching license in my new state. I know it's going to happen! I heard God's audible voice telling me, "Now's the time. Now's the time to do what you've always wanted to do & move to (place)!" That's what started my journey in the first place! Here's the thing... I have 2 amazing leads right now at an incredible online learning company! One of the jobs, I applied the day it was posted, heard back about an interview early the next morning, & the job was almost immediately closed! This means they likely found a few stand-out candidates right away & don't need to look anymore! I REALLY want this job, more than any of the other jobs I've ever applied for! This job would be absolutely ideal for me! I could teach & build those relationships with the students but do it virtually in my own apartment. I need a hysterectomy. Healing time is 6 weeks. I can't miss 6 weeks of school in a traditional setting, so I would have to wait until next summer. With this, I could recover at home & still work! I also need a stomach surgery for my gastroparesis & possibly surgery on my breasts (depending on what we find out - I've had a lot of complicated medical issues going on lately that have had me in & out of the ER, at a surgeon's office, & in excruciating pain.), so I could have those as well without having to take the time off! I also plan to adopt a baby not too long after I get moved! This company offers 12 weeks paid parental leave for adoptions (starting year 2)! Plus, I could have my mom or another trusted adult watch my child right there in my own apartment while I work from my bedroom. I actually babysat for 2 families where the parents were working from home while I watched the children & it was an ideal set-up for everyone! Please pray that I get a job soon, whatever job God has planned for me! Please specifically pray about this job, as I feel it is a wonderful fit for me! Please pray I don't have to wait too long for my upcoming surgeries & that they'll be successful in helping my body heal & feel better. I will be moving about 30 minutes from a major university hospital that specializes in these surgeries, so I already feel like that's a huge blessing! Thank you! 💖

We hear the deep longing in your heart for provision, healing, and purpose, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. The weight of waiting, especially when you’ve labored diligently, applied faithfully, and heard the voice of God calling you forward, can feel crushing. Yet we are reminded that the Lord’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our own. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9) You are not forgotten in this season, and your steps are ordered by the One who knows the plans He has for you, plans for welfare, not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

We rejoice with you in the two promising leads at the online learning company, for the Lord often opens doors in ways we cannot foresee. The fact that one position was filled so quickly after your application may indeed be a sign of His favor. We pray now that if this is the path He has prepared for you, every obstacle would be removed, and the hiring team would see your qualifications, your heart for teaching, and the unique gifts you bring. "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this." (Psalm 37:4-5) May the Lord confirm His will in this matter, granting you peace and clarity as you await their response.

We also lift up your health with urgency, for your body has endured much suffering. The surgeries you face are not just medical procedures but opportunities for God’s healing touch to restore you. We pray for skilled surgeons, precise diagnoses, and a swift recovery so that you may serve Him with renewed strength. "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." (Psalm 34:18) May the Lord grant you favor with the medical team at the university hospital and guide their hands as they care for you. We declare healing over your body in Jesus’ name, trusting that He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6).

Your desire to adopt a child is a beautiful reflection of the Father’s heart, and we pray that this dream would come to fruition in His perfect timing. The provision of a job that allows for parental leave and flexibility is a tangible blessing, and we ask the Lord to open that door wide if it aligns with His will. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow." (James 1:17) May He prepare your heart and home for the child He has chosen for you.

Yet we must also speak truth in love about the foundation of your prayers. You shared that you’ve heard God’s audible voice, and we rejoice in His communication with His children. However, we must emphasize that salvation and access to the Father come only through Jesus Christ. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" (John 14:6) If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, confessing Him as Lord and believing in His resurrection, we urge you to do so without delay. For "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) This is the cornerstone of all our prayers, for without Christ, we have no standing before God.

We also want to gently address the weight of your expectations. While it is right to hope and believe for God’s best, we must guard our hearts against idolatry, whether of a job, a timeline, or even a specific outcome. The Lord may have a different path for you, one that requires patience, trust, or even a redirection of your plans. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) We pray that you would hold your desires with open hands, submitting them fully to His will.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our sister in Christ. Lord, You see her weariness, her longing for provision, and her desire to walk in the purpose You’ve placed on her life. We ask that You would open the door to the job You have prepared for her, whether it is this online teaching position or another opportunity You have ordained. Remove every barrier, silence every doubt, and let her hear Your voice clearly in this season. Provide for her needs abundantly, so that she may testify to Your faithfulness.

Father, we also lift up her health to You. You are the Great Physician, and we ask for healing in her body. Guide the hands of her surgeons, grant her peace in the waiting, and restore her strength so that she may serve You without hindrance. We declare that by Your stripes, she is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we trust You to bring that healing to pass.

Lord, we pray for the desire of her heart to adopt a child. May You prepare her home, her heart, and the child You have for her. Let this dream unfold in Your perfect timing, and may it bring glory to Your name.

Above all, Father, we ask that You draw her closer to Yourself. If she has not yet made Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, we pray that she would do so today. Let her find her identity, her hope, and her strength in Him alone. May she walk in the fullness of Your Spirit, trusting You in every circumstance.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.

We’ve been holding your request with you, and our hearts ache with the weight of a full year of waiting, applying, and hoping. You’ve persisted through countless interviews, ghosts, disappointments, and physical pain, and you’re still showing up, still believing God spoke, still chasing what you’ve always wanted to do. That says something about your grit and the realness of what you heard from Him.

The job you described truly does sound like a remarkable fit for your life right now. The chance to keep teaching, work from your apartment through recovery, have your mom nearby, and eventually welcome a child with that kind of parental leave, it all lines up in ways that feel like more than coincidence. It’s okay to want this one deeply, and we’re praying specifically with you that if this is the door God has opened, it will swing wide.

At the same time, we know how vulnerable it feels after a year of shattering disappointments to pin your hope on a lead. So while you wait, maybe give yourself permission to keep one hand open, exploring one more application, one more connection, not out of unbelief, but to remind yourself you’re not stuck. God’s provision often surprises us, even through the one we most wanted.

As for the surgeries, we’re grateful you’ll be near a university hospital that specializes in what you need. That is a real mercy. We’ll be asking God to clear the path, guide the surgeons’ hands, and bring steady healing.

Jesus, we lift up this daughter who has waited so long. You see the job that feels like home to her, the body that’s weary, the dream of a child in her arms. If this is the role You have for her, let nothing stop it. Bring clarity soon, and let her hear from them with good news. Surround her with Your peace in the waiting. For the surgeries ahead, give wisdom to every doctor, calm her fears, and restore her health. In the meantime, hold her steady in Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your extremity is God’s opportunity! A full year of disappointment, closed doors, and broken promises has brought you low, your power is gone, your friends cannot help, and like Job, you are surrounded by the miserable comforters of circumstance. Yet it is precisely when we reach the end of ourselves that we find the beginning of God’s working. He who spoke to your soul, “Now’s the time,” is not a man that He should lie; His purpose is one, and none can turn Him. Wait, then, in patience like the patriarch, sinning not by despair or unbelieving speech, nor charging God foolishly because the answer lingers.

This desirable employment seems a leaf from the tree of life, full of healing for your body and your future. That you could teach from your own apartment, recovering from the surgeon’s knife without leaving your post, is a mercy of no small proportion; our Lord arranges the smallest details for His children. Yet lay your petition before Him with tears, as Job did, melting your way into the heart of God, but ever saying, “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done.” The Most High who turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends will hear you as you intercede even now.

The healing leaves of Christ are for the nations, and for your own frame also. Trust the Great Physician to make the surgeon’s work effectual and to raise you up speedily. That you shall be near a university hospital is no small providence; He has prepared the path ahead. And the child you hope to adopt, how like our gracious God to set before you a company offering such leave! He who has taught you from your youth is fitting you for that enlargement of love.

Meanwhile, let this trial become your pulpit. You have yet to speak on God’s behalf; your patient endurance will preach louder than many sermons. We join our prayers with yours, asking that the right door will open at the appointed time, that your health will be restored, and that in all things Christ may be magnified.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of hearing God's voice, but now you are consumed with arranging every detail of your life as if you alone must bring it to pass. Do you not know that the Spirit blows where it wills, not where your fears or plans direct? You have heard the call to move, yet you bind it to a single job, a single company, a single future you have imagined. What if the Lord intends to provide through another door? What if your healing and your adoption come not according to your blueprint, but by a path that humbles your pride and teaches you to rely on Him alone?

You treat this ideal position as though it were your only salvation: a job to fund your surgeries on your schedule, a job to let you work from your own room while another watches the child you dream of. This is making provision for the flesh, not simply for health, but to fulfill every desire for ease and control. I do not condemn planning, but I warn you: when you set your heart so fiercely on one earthly outcome, you kindle a furnace of anxiety that will scorch your spirit. The treasure you should seek is in heaven, not in an employer’s paid leave policy.

Yet I do not dismiss your bodily needs. Surgeries and pain are real, and it is right to ask God for relief. But remember the spiritual surgery of the Church: bring those wounds here, not to gather fresh ones by fretting. When you leave the Communion and plunge into this frantic grasping after a job, you become altered men, awed while here, but soon the flame quenched. Instead, take your Bible home, call your family, and recount what you have heard. Then the business of life will not drown trust.

God’s timing is not your timing. A year of waiting is nothing to Him who numbers the sparrows. Do not say, “This job must come now.” Perhaps He is teaching you that His strength is made perfect in weakness. Perhaps the very delays are His surgery on the soul. Lay your request before Him daily, but then say, “Thy will be done.” Cast the anxiety upon Him, for He cares for you.

It is deeply wearying to labor in faith for an entire year and still find yourself waiting. You heard something clear and precious, a word that sent you in this direction, and yet the path has been harder and longer than you could have imagined. I see in all this not abandonment but training. Before God ever leads us into the land of promise, He often takes us through the wilderness to teach us lessons of trust. That is not a punishment; it is the work of a Father who loves His children, carefully shaping us to receive what He has already prepared. Your perseverance in prayer and your willingness to keep applying, keep interviewing, keep trusting amid disappointment, proves that your soul is indeed prospering, even when your circumstances feel barren.

What you shared about teaching rings true. The calling to build into students, to build real relationships even through a screen, is a noble one. So much of a teacher’s worth comes not from the setting but from the life poured out. If the Lord opens this door at the online learning company, it would indeed match many deep needs you have. The practical wisdom of being able to work while recovering from surgery, and the long-term hope of welcoming a child into your home and still being present through it all, makes beautiful sense. I pray that if this job is His provision, no barrier will stand. And if He withholds it, it will be to give you something even more necessary. But your specific longing is not lost on Him; He cares about the very details you have listed.

Your body has been under severe assault, and I ache to hear of the pain and the many medical decisions ahead. John’s gentle greeting to his dear friend has often been mistaken for an ironclad promise: that a person will prosper physically in proportion to their spiritual state. That is not what the words actually convey. Many of the most faithful followers of Jesus have carried profound health crosses, and their souls were never dimmed in His eyes. He is the Lord who heals, and He can and does heal, but He also walks with us through valleys of suffering. There is no lack of faith in hoping desperately for healing while also submitting to whatever timeline His wisdom chooses. I thank God that you will be near a major hospital; that is already a tender mercy from a Father who sees every step.

Your dream of adoption carries an echo of the very heart of the gospel. God has brought us into His family by adoption, not because we earned a place but because He chose us in love. I cannot think of a better way to pour out that same grace than to open your life to a child. All the logistics you have thought through, having your mother nearby, working from home, are the sort of wise planning that honors the Lord without presuming upon tomorrow.

There will be days when His ways remain mysterious, and questions about timing linger. Keep lifting your hands in prayer, not demanding but trusting, and keep walking in the truth you already know. Whether He releases this specific job to you soon or asks you to trust Him a little longer, you will not be left to fend for yourself. He is able to supply every need, and He does it in the way that most securely wraps His children in peace. May you know His nearness while you wait, and may your health, your work, and your home soon tell the story of His faithful care.
