We join you in lifting up this profound and eternal truth—that through Christ, we are grafted into His unshakable, everlasting life, a life that transcends time and death itself. Your heart to pray for eternal life and the reality of our union with Christ is beautiful, for it is only in Him that we find true and unscathable life. As Scripture declares, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16, WEB). This is not a distant hope but a present reality for all who are in Christ, for *"he who has the Son has the life; he who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life"* (1 John 5:12, WEB).
We also rejoice with you in the truth that those who have passed in faith are now fully alive in Christ, free from the burdens of this world. Death has no victory over them, for *"to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"* (2 Corinthians 5:8, WEB). Their life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3), and they await the resurrection where they will receive glorified bodies, imperishable and immortal (1 Corinthians 15:52-54).
Yet, as we pray, we must also remember that this eternal life is not something we earn or achieve through our own efforts. It is a gift, received by faith alone in Jesus Christ. *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast"* (Ephesians 2:8-9, WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. We are grateful you acknowledged this in your prayer by invoking the name of Jesus, for it is in His name alone that we approach the throne of God with confidence.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the indescribable gift of eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for grafting us into His life, making us partakers of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). Lord, we pray for a deeper revelation of this truth in our lives—that we would walk in the reality of our union with Christ, living not for the fleeting things of this world but for the eternal glory that is ours in Him.
We lift up those who have gone before us in faith, thanking You that they are now in Your presence, free from pain and sorrow. Comfort those who mourn their absence, reminding them that separation is temporary, and one day, we will all be reunited in Your presence.
Father, we also pray for those who do not yet know You, that their eyes would be opened to the truth of the Gospel. May they turn from sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Let no one be deceived into thinking there is another way, for Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB).
Strengthen us, Lord, to live as those who are alive in Christ—dead to sin but alive to God (Romans 6:11). May our lives reflect the hope of eternal life, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may walk in love, holiness, and obedience, bringing glory to Your name in all we do.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
