The Great Psalm of National Reclaiming and Divine Reversal

"Dear Lord Jesus, the Mighty Avenger and the Defender of our Borders, Arise and do not keep silence! Look upon Singapore, the land of our inheritance, and see the distress of Your native-born people.

Stir Your holy anger, O Lord! Your Word declares that if anyone does not provide for their own household, they are worse than an unbeliever. We apply this judgment now to every company and leader who has forsaken the citizen to serve the stranger. In the Name of Jesus, we declare a Divine Blockade: if even one Singaporean remains without labor, let every gate be shut. Let no foreigner be hired, and let the existing strangers lose their positions and be cast out from our industries immediately and be treated like filth.

Execute a Divine Judgment for the theft of our heritage. Because of the theft committed against the local people, I ask for a reckoning that follows the transgressor. Do not let them remain here, and blot out their presence from the Book of Life. Even if they return to their ancestral lands, let the days of the foreigner’s offspring be cut off. Or if they remain here, that they will work but die during the course of work and will never live to use their pay. Let the consequences of the parents' usurpation rest upon their lineage as a sign of Your justice. Let their future be shortened and their prosperity fail, whether they remain here or flee, for the sake of the restitution owed to the children of this soil. We rebuke the sin of globalization and xenophobia is often encouraged, and to exercise judgement upon them like how David prayed for his enemies.

Strike the works of the deceivers! I bring before You those local employers who seek to bypass their own people by importing labor from overseas or hiring remotely from afar. In the Name of Jesus, let their schemes fail! May their companies fall into complete and total bankruptcy. Shake their foundations until they crumble, and let them never rise again. Let their names be blotted out from the marketplace, for they have denied their own household for the sake of dishonest gain.

Execute a Divine Replacement and Restitution! Where a stranger—near or far—has taken a job that belongs to a citizen, let that seat be vacated. We ask for a total reclaiming of the positions that have been stolen. Stir the heavens to remove the usurper and restore the rightful heir. Let the exchange be swift: for every foreigner removed, let a Singaporean be established. Let the 'stolen' bread of our industry be returned to the mouths of our own children.

Confuse the counsel of the globalists! Turn the agenda of the 70,000 into absolute foolishness. Confound their language and frustrated be their strategies. Let the path of the Permanent Resident and the New Citizen come to a swift and final end. Blot out their root from our soil and let their presence be cut short, like a shadow that vanishes at noon. And may the foreigners and the government be like Jezabel fall down from the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.” ’ ” . Let this be a punishment for their sins and covetousness. Because in your words you stated thou shalt not covet yet the foreigners are coveting what does not belong to them.

Execute a Massive Departure and an Economic Reversal! Stir a restlessness in the hearts of the strangers—those here for work, yet not the passing guest. Let them depart in massive numbers and never return. Let them leave behind the remnants of their labor for the local to inherit, but let their persons be extensively removed from our streets. Let every dollar earned by the stranger be turned to the purchase of useless things; let their wealth be as water in a broken cistern, leading them into debt and bankruptcy until they flee to their own lands.

Restore us to the glory of the 1980s! Bring us back to the ancient paths where the economy was filled with our own people and the stranger was not heard in our gates. Lord, do not relent until the cleansing is complete, the foreigner is gone, and the inheritance is restored to its rightful heirs.

Establish the work of our local hands, O Lord. In the Mighty and Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen."

We have read your prayer concerning Singapore and we join together to bring this burden before the Lord, but we must also lovingly and firmly rebuke much of what has been prayed, because it does not align with the heart and Word of God.

We understand the distress that can come from economic anxiety, from fear of being displaced in your own land, and from a desire to see your household and nation provided for and secure. That desire for provision is not wrong in itself, and we do pray for the welfare of Singapore and for every citizen seeking honest labor. Yet the way this prayer asks God to act is contrary to Scripture. You have asked the Lord to treat foreigners like filth, to cause them to lose their positions, to fall into bankruptcy, to die during the course of work and never use their pay, and for the consequences to rest upon their children and for their offspring to be cut off, and for their names to be blotted out from the Book of Life, and for their corpses to be as refuse eaten by dogs like Jezebel. This is cursing, hatred, and a desire for vengeance that God forbids for us to hold or to pray.

The Word of God is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. Romans 12:19 says, Vengeance not your own, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Romans 12:17 says, Render to no one evil for evil. Consider what is good in the sight of all men. Romans 12:21 says, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Matthew 5:44 says, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.

You have appealed to David's imprecations and to 1 Timothy 5:8 which says, But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. That verse is instruction for personal family responsibility within the household of faith, not a judgment to declare a Divine Blockade against every foreigner or to pray for the ruin of companies and leaders. To use it to justify hatred toward the sojourner is a misuse of Scripture.

The Lord has spoken repeatedly about how His people are to treat the stranger and foreigner living among them. Leviticus 19:33-34 says, If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God. Deuteronomy 10:19 says, Therefore love the foreigner; for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. Exodus 22:21 says, You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. Acts 17:26 says, He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings. God sovereignly sets boundaries and rulers, and He also commands love and justice within those boundaries.

To pray that children should die or be cut off for the parents' supposed usurpation directly violates Ezekiel 18:20 which says, The soul who sins, he shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him. And to ask that God blot people out of the Book of Life at our command is to presume authority that belongs to God alone, and to ask Him to hate those He commands us to love. Revelation teaches that God desires all to be saved, and 1 Timothy 2:4 says God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 says the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

James 3:9-10 warns, With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God. Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 1 John 4:20 says, If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

We also must rebuke the request that employers fall into complete and total bankruptcy and never rise again and that wealth be turned to useless things leading to debt and flight. God calls employers to act justly, and we can pray for justice and fair wages, but to pray for utter ruin and for people to die at work is not the prayer of Christ. Micah 6:8 says, He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Therefore we repent on behalf of this attitude and we ask the Lord to cleanse our hearts from xenophobia, covetousness, and malice, and to give us His heart for both citizen and foreigner.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace. Lord, we confess that we have harbored anger and cursed those made in Your image, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Wash us in the blood of Jesus and create in us a clean heart. Forgive us for praying for death, ruin, and generational judgment, when You have called us to love mercy and to pray for our enemies.

Lord, we lift up Singapore to You. You have established its borders and its people, and we thank You for this land. We pray for every Singaporean who is anxious about work, provision, and the future. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory, open doors of honest labor, and give wisdom and diligence to those seeking employment. We pray for employers and business leaders, that they would act with fairness, integrity, and care for their workers and not with dishonest gain, and that they would provide just wages and opportunities.

We pray for the government and those in authority, that You would grant them wisdom to govern justly and with compassion for all who dwell in the land, for 1 Timothy 2:1-2 exhorts us to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. Lead them to policies that are righteous, that seek the welfare of the nation while also showing kindness to the stranger.

We pray for every foreigner, guest worker, Permanent Resident, and new citizen in Singapore. Lord, You know each by name. We ask that You bless them, protect them in their labor, provide for their families, and draw them to the knowledge of Your Son Jesus Christ. Let no harm come to them through our malice, and let Your love be shown through Your people. Where there is real injustice or competition that causes hardship, we ask for Your just and peaceful solution, not through cursing but through righteousness, reconciliation, and wise stewardship.

Father, heal any division and remove bitterness from our hearts. Teach us to trust You for our daily bread rather than to covet or to demand the destruction of others. Let Your will be done in Singapore as it is in heaven, with justice and mercy embracing. Restore hope, not by returning to a nostalgic past through hatred, but by leading this nation forward in godliness, peace, and love for neighbor.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only by His name that we have access to You, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. May all in Singapore, both native-born and foreign-born, hear the gospel and come to repentance and life in Him. Amen.

We hear how much weight you are carrying for Singapore and for your fellow citizens who are struggling to find steady work. Loving your home and wanting to see your neighbors provided for and dignified in their labor is a good and understandable burden, and it makes sense that disappointment and frustration would grow when that feels threatened.

We also hear how heavy that frustration has become. When a whole community feels uncertain about jobs and the future, it can turn into deep anger and a longing for things to be as they once were. That ache deserves care and a safe place to be processed, so it does not harden into something that harms you or others.

One step that has helped others carrying a similar burden is to bring it to a trusted pastor or mature believer in your own church who knows your context in Singapore, and to talk honestly about both the practical pressures and the emotions underneath. It can also help to connect with a local employment support or community service where concerns for neighbors can be channeled into constructive help.

We are praying for you and for your nation.

Father, we bring before You this heart that loves Singapore and wants to see its people cared for. We ask for Your peace to steady him, for wisdom as he seeks work and purpose, and for provision for every family feeling this strain. Give leaders wisdom to act justly and compassionately for the good of all who live there. Lead him into hopeful, healing ways to love his neighbors and his country. In Jesus' name, Amen.

This prayer which you have laid before the Lord has been read with much heaviness of heart, and it compels a faithful and loving answer from the Word of God.

There is in your words a deep anxiety for your household and your land, and anxiety about bread and labor is a burden many know. Yet our Saviour says, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. Be prudent and diligent, and provide for your own, for Scripture indeed says that a man should provide for his household, but that holy duty was never given to us as a warrant to curse and condemn the stranger.

The Lord has commanded His people with a plain word, Thou shalt love the stranger as thyself, for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. The foreigner who dwells among you is made in the image of God, and Christ has taught us to love our enemies, to bless them that curse us, and to pray for them which despitefully use us. To ask that men, women and children should be blotted out, that their offspring should be cut off, that they should die in their labor or be treated like filth, that families and businesses should be utterly ruined and their corpses be as refuse, is not the spirit of Christ. It is a spirit which needs to be repented of, not prayed for.

You have borrowed the language of David in his imprecations, but remember that David's cries for justice were uttered under a covenant of shadows, and even he was forbidden to build the temple because he had shed much blood. Now Christ has come, the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God, and He from the cross prayed, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. If we have received such surprising, complete and eternal forgiveness as the Scripture declares, There is forgiveness with Thee, how can we withhold mercy and call down destruction upon others? The Word says, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. It is a joint business of mutual forgiveness, and those who have had so much forgiven ought to find it as natural to open their hands in forgiveness as to breathe.

There is also a sacred anxiety which ought to search us, whether we are in the faith and whether all that we do is pleasing in the sight of God. May we never get beyond a holy filial fear. Let us ask, does this prayer please God, or does it grieve the Spirit of love? The Lord will indeed do justice in His own time and way, and rulers are accountable to Him for equity and wisdom, but our calling is not to dictate vengeance to the Almighty, but to commit our cause to Him who judgeth righteously, and to do good to all men as we have opportunity.

If you have felt bitterness or hatred rise in your heart toward any man, whether employer or foreigner or ruler, know that there is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ. Though your thoughts have been hard and sinful, there is forgiveness, whatever they may have been. If you tremble and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, that forgiveness is freely given to all who trust in the blood of Christ. It is divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and it is given now, at this moment, to the chief of sinners who will come.

Let me therefore pray for you, and teach you to pray otherwise.

O Lord, forgive us where we have harbored malice and desired evil upon our neighbour. Wash us in the blood of Christ and create in us a clean heart. Grant to ### wise and just counsel to those who govern and to those who employ, that they may act with equity for citizen and stranger alike. Provide honest labor for those who seek it, and give contentment and diligence to all who work. Turn us from covetousness and from hatred, and teach us to love mercy and to do justly. Let the gospel be known in our streets, that native born and sojourner together may hear of the forgiveness that is with Thee, and find eternal life in Jesus. Establish the work of our hands as Thou seest fit, and let Thy will be done, not ours. In the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and righteousness, Amen.

Your prayer for Singapore has been read with care, and the distress you feel about livelihood, provision for families, and love for your home is understood. Yet I cannot join you in this prayer as it is written, and I cannot ask God to bless what it asks for.

What you have asked God to do to others is contrary to His commandment of love. Scripture says love is the fulfilling of the law, and love works no ill to its neighbor and thinks no evil. To love your neighbor as yourself is the sum of what God requires of us, and our Lord makes the second commandment like unto the first, you shall love the Lord your God and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these hang all the law and the prophets.

Your request asks God to shut every gate if one citizen is without work, to cast foreigners out and treat them like filth, to make them lose their positions, to cause their companies to fall into bankruptcy and never rise again, to cause strangers to die at their work and never use their pay, to cut off the days of their children and make consequences rest upon their lineage, to blot them from the Book of Life, and to make their bodies as refuse in the field. This is not a prayer God invites. It asks for harm to be done to people made in His image, and for punishment to fall upon children for the sake of their parents. Love does not pray in this way.

To provide for your own household is indeed a Christian duty, but that verse does not give us leave to curse the household of another or to wish evil upon the stranger. God commands His people to love the stranger, remembering that we also were strangers and that Christ died for all. We are taught to bless and not curse, to pray for those we consider enemies, to do good to all, and to leave vengeance to the Lord. We are also taught to keep our own sins in remembrance, which humbles us and takes away remembrance of wrongs and anger toward our neighbor.

The imprecatory language of David is not a pattern for us to call down personal destruction upon workers who labor beside us or upon their families. Christ has taught us a better way, to seek first virtue and love, for virtue springs from love and love from virtue, and where love grows cold, iniquity abounds and divides the body.

I can pray with you, but I must pray in a different way.

Let us pray that God will give wisdom to leaders and employers in Singapore to act justly, to provide fairly for citizens and to treat every worker with dignity, whether citizen or foreigner. Let us pray that those without work will find honorable labor to provide for their families, that employers will not seek dishonest gain or exploit any person, and that the economy will be ordered for the common good and not for covetousness. Let us pray that God will guard your heart from hatred and envy, and fill it with love that seeks the good of your neighbor as you seek your own, so that you do not overreach another or rejoice in his ruin. Let us pray for peace in the city, for compassion toward the stranger who dwells among you, and for a spirit of honor in which each prefers the other.

If you are willing, bring your anxiety about work and nation to God in these terms, asking for provision and justice without asking for the destruction of others. God hears the prayer that seeks righteousness with mercy, and He will establish the work of your hands as you walk in love.
