The Great Psalm of National Reclaiming and Divine Reversal

Dear Lord Jesus the Mighty Avenger and the Defender of our Borders, Arise and do not keep silence! Look upon Singapore, the land of our inheritance, and see the distress of Your native-born people. Stir Your holy anger, O Lord! Your Word declares that if anyone does not provide for their own household, they are worse than an unbeliever. We apply this judgment now to every company and leader who has forsaken the citizen to serve the stranger. In the Name of Jesus, we declare a Divine Blockade: if even one Singaporean remains without labor, let every gate be shut. Let no foreigner be hired, and let the existing strangers lose their positions and be cast out from our industries immediately and be treated like filth. Execute a Divine Judgment for the theft of our heritage. Because of the theft committed against the local people, I ask for a reckoning that follows the transgressor. Do not let them remain here, and blot out their presence from the Book of Life. Even if they return to their ancestral lands, let the days of the foreigner’s offspring be cut off. Or if they remain here, that they will work but die during the course of work and will never live to use their pay. Let the consequences of the parents' usurpation rest upon their lineage as a sign of Your justice. Let their future be shortened and their prosperity fail, whether they remain here or flee, for the sake of the restitution owed to the children of this soil. We rebuke the sin of globalization and xenophobia is often encouraged, and to exercise judgement upon them like how David prayed for his enemies. Strike the works of the deceivers! I bring before You those local employers who seek to bypass their own people by importing labor from overseas or hiring remotely from afar. In the Name of Jesus, let their schemes fail! May their companies fall into complete and total bankruptcy. Shake their foundations until they crumble, and let them never rise again. Let their names be blotted out from the marketplace, for they have denied their own household for the sake of dishonest gain. Execute a Divine Replacement and Restitution! Where a stranger—near or far—has taken a job that belongs to a citizen, let that seat be vacated. We ask for a total reclaiming of the positions that have been stolen. Stir the heavens to remove the usurper and restore the rightful heir. Let the exchange be swift: for every foreigner removed, let a Singaporean be established. Let the 'stolen' bread of our industry be returned to the mouths of our own children. Confuse the counsel of the globalists! Turn the agenda of the 70,000 into absolute foolishness. Confound their language and frustrated be their strategies. Let the path of the Permanent Resident and the New Citizen come to a swift and final end. Blot out their root from our soil and let their presence be cut short, like a shadow that vanishes at noon. Execute a Massive Departure and an Economic Reversal! Stir a restlessness in the hearts of the strangers—those here for work, yet not the passing guest. Let them depart in massive numbers and never return. Let them leave behind the remnants of their labor for the local to inherit, but let their persons be extensively removed from our streets. Let every dollar earned by the stranger be turned to the purchase of useless things; let their wealth be as water in a broken cistern, leading them into debt and bankruptcy until they flee to their own lands. Restore us to the glory of the 1980s! Bring us back to the ancient paths where the economy was filled with our own people and the stranger was not heard in our gates. Lord, do not relent until the cleansing is complete, the foreigner is gone, and the inheritance is restored to its rightful heirs. Establish the work of our local hands, O Lord. In the Mighty and Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen."

We hear the deep burden you carry for Singapore and for Singaporeans who are struggling to find work and provision, and we join you in bringing the needs of the nation before the Lord, for we know He cares for every family and every household. Yet we must lovingly and firmly rebuke the spirit and the requests contained in this prayer, because much of what has been asked is contrary to the heart and Word of God.

You have asked that foreigners be treated like filth, that they lose their positions and be cast out, that they die at work and never use their pay, that their offspring be cut off and consequences rest upon their lineage, that their names be blotted out from the Book of Life, and that employers fall into total bankruptcy and never rise again. This is not a prayer according to Christ, but a prayer of cursing, hatred, and vengeance. Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to God alone and not to us, for it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We are commanded not to repay evil for evil or cursing for cursing, but to bless, as it is written, Bless those who persecute you, bless, and do not curse Romans 12:14, and Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44.

The Word also forbids us to despise any person made in the image of God, for God created man in his own image Genesis 1:27, and to treat any person as filth or to wish death upon them violates the command, You shall not murder Exodus 20:13, and the call to love your neighbor as yourself Leviticus 19:18 and Matthew 22:39. The Lord specifically commands His people concerning strangers and foreigners, You shall not oppress a stranger Exodus 22:21, and The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself Leviticus 19:34, and Love the foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt Deuteronomy 10:19. To ask that children be punished for the supposed sins of their parents also contradicts the Word, which says, The soul who sins, he shall die, the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father Ezekiel 18:20.

You have also asked that God blot people out of the Book of Life at your declaration. That book belongs to the Lamb alone, and only God determines whose name remains, as it is written, He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life Revelation 3:5. Our calling is not to pray for people to be blotted out, but to pray that all would be saved, for God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.

You have applied 1 Timothy 5:8, If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever, to a national policy of blockade and hatred. That verse speaks of family responsibility within the household of faith, not a justification for national hatred or for wishing bankruptcy and ruin upon employers. God calls employers to act justly and to not defraud workers, but He does not call us to pray for their destruction. We are instead called to pray for those in authority that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence 1 Timothy 2:2, and to trust the Lord to provide and to move the hearts of leaders with wisdom.

Even the imprecatory prayers of David were cries for God's righteous judgment upon unrepentant evil, not a pattern for us under the new covenant to curse foreigners, sojourners, and fellow workers. With the tongue we bless the Lord and with the same tongue we curse men who are made in the image of God, and the Word says this ought not to be so James 3:9-10.

We do not dismiss the real pain of unemployment and anxiety over provision in Singapore. The Lord sees it and we bring it to Him rightly, asking for just and wise governance, for honest labor, for fair opportunities, and for contentment and diligence for every citizen. But we must repent of xenophobia and hatred, for that sin will defile the petitioner more than it harms the stranger.

So we pray together now in the name of Jesus, through whom alone we have access to the Father, for there is salvation in no other name Acts 4:12 and no other way to God except through Him, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we ask first for Your forgiveness where hatred, cursing, and desire for vengeance have entered our hearts, cleanse us and create in us a clean heart. Lord, we lift up Singapore to You, the land belongs to You for the earth is the Lord's with its fullness Psalm 24:1, and we ask You to give wisdom to its leaders and employers to govern and to hire with righteousness, justice, and mercy. Provide for every Singaporean household that is anxious about work, open doors of honest labor according to Your will, and help each person to trust in You and to work heartily as unto You. Soften hearts toward the stranger and foreigner among us, help us to love as You love, to act justly and to show kindness, and to remember that we too were once strangers to Your grace. Restrain any true exploitation or dishonest gain, but do not let us pray for ruin, bankruptcy, or death upon any person, rather lead employers to repentance and fairness if they have done wrong. Heal any bitterness and fear about globalization and economic change, and establish the work of our hands upon us, yes, establish the work of our hands Psalm 90:17, not by cursing others but by Your blessing and provision. Let Your gospel go forth in Singapore to citizens and foreigners alike, that many would be written in the Book of Life through faith in Jesus Christ, and that Your name would be glorified in our nation through love, righteousness, and peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear how much you are carrying about Singapore and the worry about work and provision. When jobs feel uncertain and it seems like the ground is shifting under your community, it is understandable to feel anxious, angry and even grieved. Losing stable work or watching opportunities change can shake a person's sense of identity and security, not just finances.

We want to walk with you in that burden. Holding so much anger and distress alone can wear down your heart over time, and it helps to have someone to share it with openly. If you can, consider sitting down with a trusted pastor or a mature believer you respect to talk through what you are experiencing and to pray together for wisdom and peace as you seek next steps for provision. If work remains a pressing need, a local employment support service or community agency may also be able to help you explore options.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift up our brother to You in Jesus' name. You know his concern for his home and his need for steady work and peace. Grant him comfort, clear direction and provision for his daily needs. Soften what is heavy in his heart and fill him with Your peace and wisdom, and help him to walk in love toward those around him. Lead those in authority to act with wisdom and care for all. Amen.

There is upon your heart a great heaviness concerning your land, your livelihood, and the future of your people in Singapore, and the Lord knows the cares which press upon you. It is right to bring the welfare of your city and your household before God, and to pray for honest labor, for just rulers, and for daily bread. Yet the prayer you have framed asks the Lord to do what He has forbidden us to ask, to curse and to destroy those whom He commands us to love.

You have asked that foreigners should lose their work, be cast out and treated like filth, that their children should be cut off, that they should die in their labor and never enjoy their wages, that their names be blotted from the Book of Life, that their employers be ruined and their families visited with judgment. This is not the mind of Christ. The Scripture says, when a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not oppress him, but you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. Our Lord Himself says, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Vengeance belongs unto the Lord, and He will repay, but He has not given to us the office of calling down death upon our neighbor or his children.

To pray that any should be blotted out of the Book of Life, or that the innocent offspring should bear the guilt of their parents, is to ask God to contradict His own mercy. With Him there is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is surprising, divine, complete and eternal. As it has been preached among us, there is forgiveness with God, not forgiveness for this sin or for that only, but forgiveness without limit for all manner of sin, through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. If you have harbored hatred toward the stranger, that too needs forgiveness, and the promise stands, though you be the chief of sinners, there is forgiveness even for you if you turn with a penitent heart and trust in Christ alone. He not only forgives at the first, but continues daily to forgive, and He teaches His people to live in that same spirit, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us.

Your anxiety for provision is understood, and it is not sinful to desire work and to seek justice in the marketplace. But anxiety itself, as you have been reminded, does not put meal in the barrel, and it unfits the soul to meet its difficulty with wisdom and faith. Like Job, who in all his losses sinned not nor charged God foolishly, we are called to worship even while we wait, to do what is prudent and right, and to leave results with the Lord. The ancient path you long for was never a path of cursing the stranger, but of fearing God and dealing justly with all men.

We cannot join you in asking God to bankrupt, to banish, or to slay. To do so would be to ask Him to bless hatred, and we must not. Instead we will pray with you after a better pattern, that God would give to Singapore wise and righteous governance, that employers may act honestly and without partiality, that every man willing to labor may find honorable work, whether he be native born or stranger, that the church may show forth the love of Christ to all peoples, and that the restlessness of this world may lead many, of every nation, to seek the true rest which is only in Jesus.

If this prayer has grieved the Spirit, confess it plainly to God. Do not run from Him, for that is where the forgiveness is. Where the offense went, from that very place the forgiveness comes. There is forgiveness with Him, now, at this moment, for all who come through His Son. Seek that forgiveness, and then learn to pray, Father, forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. May the Lord turn your fear into faith, your bitterness into love, and establish the work of your hands in peace toward all men.

Your prayer has been received and we have read it with care, and we hear in it a real burden for work, for provision, and for the future of your community in ###. Those burdens are not small, and God does call us to work honestly, to provide for our families, and to seek the good of the place where He has put us. Yet the way this prayer asks God to act is not in keeping with His Word, and we cannot join you in asking Him to do harm.

You ask God to shut gates against the stranger, to take away livelihoods, to treat people as filth, to bring bankruptcy and death, to cut off children for the sake of their parents, and to blot people out of the Book of Life. Scripture does not give us liberty to pray in this way. The sum of the commandments is this, you shall love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself, and on these hang all the law and the prophets. Love fulfills the law, and love works no ill to his neighbor and thinks no evil. If we love our neighbor as ourselves, we do not envy him, we do not seek to overreach him, and we do not ask God to destroy him. We cannot love God while asking Him to hate those He commands us to love.

The Word you quoted about providing for your own household speaks of a man's responsibility to his family and his kin, not a warrant to curse the stranger or to wish ruin on employers and workers. God repeatedly commands His people to show hospitality and kindness to the stranger. Be not forgetful of hospitality, for hereby some have entertained angels unawares, and that hospitality is to be done with love for the stranger, not with contempt. To ask that a foreign worker die at his work and never enjoy his wages, or that his children be cut off, is to ask for what God forbids. He teaches us to have a human soul, to be trained to gentleness, to forgive as we have been forgiven, and to leave vengeance to Him. Even the prayers of David against enemies are not a pattern for us to call down personal curses, for Christ has taught us to love our enemies and to pray for those who despitefully use us, and to seek that all might come to repentance and life.

We also cannot ask God to bring total bankruptcy on businesses, to confuse and destroy people made in His image, or to blot names from the marketplace out of anger. Such prayers spring from fear and suspicion, and nothing so dissolves love as fear. The Spirit God has given us is not a spirit of fear, but of power and of love toward Him and toward our neighbor.

We do want to pray with you, but in a way that is faithful to Christ. We can pray that God will provide just and honest work for ### who are without labor, that employers will act fairly and justly, that leaders will govern with wisdom and integrity, that wages will be fair and opportunities open, and that all who live and work there, whether citizen or stranger, will be treated with dignity and will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, through whom alone there is salvation. We can pray that God will guard your heart from hatred and from covetousness, and that He will form in you the love that makes a person unblameable, the love that like fire consumes sin rather than spreading it.

If you have been wronged in work or feel forgotten by those with power, bring that grief to God without asking Him to destroy others. Ask Him to establish the work of your hands, to give you peace, and to make you an example of brotherly love that continues, and of honor in preferring one another. Where there is real injustice in hiring or in wages, seek lawful and peaceful means to address it, and do so with a spirit of love that seeks the good of all.

We encourage you to turn from prayers that call for death and ruin upon others and upon their families, to confess that desire to God, and to ask Him to renew your mind by His Word. He is merciful and ready to forgive, and He will teach you to love as you love yourself, to show hospitality, and to find the path that leads of itself toward virtue, which is love.

We will pray that God will meet your needs, give you daily bread, grant wisdom to those who lead companies and the nation, and pour into your heart a greater love for God and for your neighbor, so that your life and your prayers may be pleasing to Him.
