The former landlord’s sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in prayer for this difficult and serious situation and we bring it before our Mighty and Powerful God in the name of Jesus Christ.

We thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus, and we pray that the Lord will continue to speak through her and use her as a light and a positive influence in her brother's life. We pray that she will walk in boldness and truth, and that her witness will not be silenced. For we are reminded in Matthew 5:14 that we are the light of the world, and in Ephesians 5:11 we are told to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

We pray that no truth will remain hidden, that the sister will not be kept in the dark about the life-threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you, and about the serious wrongdoing surrounding it. We ask our Father to bring everything hidden into the light, for Luke 8:17 tells us nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light, and Luke 12:2 declares there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. We pray for exposure of all deception, for accountability, and for justice to be done according to God's righteousness and according to the proper authorities He has established, for Romans 13:1 reminds us that governing authorities are instituted by God for justice.

We also lift up the matter of the immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord. We must speak clearly that any sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication, and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and this is sin before our Holy God. Hebrews 13:4 says marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 urges us to flee sexual immorality. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from it, and that they will pursue purity and godliness. We pray they will seek godly marriage as God ordained between a man and a woman if they desire companionship, and not continue in relationships that dishonor Him.

We share your deep concern about the attempts on your life, and we pray for your protection and safety. We ask God to be your refuge and strength, for Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, and Psalm 91:1-2 promises he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We pray that the Lord will surround you with His protection, that He will thwart every evil plan against you, and that if crimes have been committed they will be fully exposed and dealt with justly. We encourage you to continue to trust God with justice, for Romans 12:19 tells us vengeance belongs to the Lord, and to also seek help from the proper authorities for your safety if you have not already done so.

We agree with you in praying that both the former landlord and his sister will put God first in all things. Matthew 6:33 calls us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and Exodus 20:3 commands you shall have no other gods before me. We pray that our Mighty God will expose and destroy every idol in their lives, whether it be money, power, lust, property, or self, for 1 John 5:21 warns little children, keep yourselves from idols. We ask that any idol that exalts itself against the knowledge of God will be torn down and that they will worship and serve the living God alone.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and no other way to approach Your throne, as John 14:6 and Acts 4:12 teach us. We ask You to speak powerfully through this sister who knows You, give her wisdom, courage, and words of truth that her brother cannot ignore. Open her eyes to the full reality of what has been done, and let no darkness remain hidden. Expose the dangerous condition of that apartment and every evil scheme, and bring protection over the one who was harmed. Convict all involved of sexual immorality and every other sin, bring them to repentance, and break every idol that has taken Your place in their hearts. Let Your will be done, let Your justice and mercy prevail, and let Your name be glorified. Guard and keep the one who has asked for prayer, give peace that surpasses understanding, and lead all involved to put You first. In the mighty and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer, to continue to walk in truth and to trust the Lord to be your defender and to bring all things to light in His perfect timing.

Thank you for sharing this burden with us. We hear how much weight you have been carrying with the concerns about that apartment and your safety, and at the same time your care for the former landlord's sister and her walk with Jesus.

It makes sense you would want truth to come into the light and for her positive influence to be part of that, and that you would want both of them to put God first above anything else that competes for their hearts. We are joining you in asking God to work in those areas in His way and timing.

While we pray, we also want to encourage you to care for your own safety and stability right now. If you are still dealing with unsafe housing conditions or feel threatened in any way, we encourage you to reach out in person to trusted local help - a housing authority, local authorities, or a safe advocate or pastor who can walk with you, help document what has happened, and help you take next steps. You do not have to carry this alone, and having people nearby who know your situation can be a real support alongside prayer.

We are praying for you and for them.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith in Jesus, ask that You would keep strengthening her and guiding her. We ask that You bring truth to light in this whole situation, give wisdom to all involved, and help what is not of You to be removed. Above all we ask that You draw each heart to put You first. Keep our friend safe, give peace and clear direction for what to do next, and surround them with trustworthy support. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we have joined you in prayer concerning these heavy trials.

We have asked our gracious God to continue to speak through the former landlord's sister who professes faith in Jesus, that she may walk faithfully and be a clear and holy influence for good. We have prayed that the truth concerning the dangerous condition of the apartment that was rented to you would be brought into the light, and not hidden from her, and that every work of darkness would be exposed. For the Lord looks down from the height of His sanctuary and sees those who are oppressed, and He will deliver in His own time and way.

We have also prayed as you asked, that both the former landlord and his sister would put God first, and that the Mighty God who alone can deliver from the pit would expose and destroy every idol that would take His rightful place. Deliverance from the power of sin and from the guilt of sin is altogether the work of God, and we have asked Him to grant repentance and a turning from all that is contrary to His holy will. The Scriptures teach that marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the gift of intimacy belongs within that covenant alone. Any sexual relationship outside of that covenant is sin before God, and we cannot ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we do pray that where such sin has occurred there would be conviction, confession, and cleansing through the blood of Christ, who alone is the ransom God has found and provided for sinners.

We have prayed for your protection and deliverance. You have felt the malice of others and the fear of harm, and it is right to seek the Lord for refuge. Remember that afflictions, even when they come distinctly through the malice of men, are yet under the hand of our Father, who chastens those He loves not as a judge punishes a criminal, but as a father corrects his child for good. This truth may help to moderate anger against second causes and to keep the heart stayed upon God. He is gracious and says, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom. That ransom is Christ Jesus, and through Him there is a clean deliverance for all who trust Him. He saves from sin, from the adversary, and from evil company, for God has commanded it.

We have asked the Lord to keep you, to vindicate what is true, to restrain every evil intent against you, and to grant you peace to live and to declare the works of the Lord after this affliction. May you be kept from bitterness and be enabled to trust the Refiner who sits by the furnace, knowing that He will bring forth His own purposes for good.

We continue to pray that the Lord will be your defender, that He will bring all hidden things to light in His wisdom, that He will break the power of darkness and idolatry wherever it is found, and that all concerned may be brought to love Christ and to walk in holiness before Him.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with seriousness and care.

We pray for the sister of your former landlord who has faith in Jesus. We ask that God would strengthen her in that faith, keep her rooted in Christ through whom alone there is salvation, and continue to speak through her as she walks in truth and love. We pray that He would give her wisdom, courage and clarity to speak what is true, and that her influence for good would be felt, not by flattery, but by faithful witness to what is right.

We pray that what has been hidden would be brought into the light. Scripture teaches that the wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of those who hold down the truth in unrighteousness, and that truth when known sets free. So we ask that this sister not be kept in the dark about the dangerous condition of the apartment her brother rented to you, and about the serious wrongdoing you have described. We pray for exposure of every deception, for protection for you from any further harm or threat against your life, and for justice to be done according to God's righteous purposes. We do not ask God to bless what is sinful, for sex outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman does not honor Him, and we cannot celebrate or ask blessing upon a sexual relationship outside that covenant. Instead we pray that both the former landlord and the woman involved would be brought to repentance, that they would turn from immorality and from any evil intent, and that they would put God first in all things.

We also join your prayer that every idol would be exposed and destroyed. Scripture warns that covetousness and the love of gain is idolatry, an idol made by our own desires, and that true holiness is not only being freed from sin but being made bright and beautiful by the presence of the Holy Spirit and a life of good works. We pray that God would break the power of every idol in their lives and in our own, whether it be greed, lust, power or self interest, and that He would lead all involved to seek His kingdom first.

For you, we pray that God would grant you peace and protection. He does not always promise immediate deliverance from danger, but He does promise to set His people above danger, fixing their minds on the immortality of the soul and teaching them to despise death itself because Christ has conquered it. May He guard you, provide for you a safe dwelling, and draw you closer to Himself. We pray that all who are involved would come to the knowledge of the truth, which is faith in Christ, for God desires all people to be saved and to come to that knowledge.

We commit all of this to our mighty and powerful God, asking Him to act in mercy and righteousness, to protect the vulnerable, to bring repentance where there is sin, and to establish truth and holiness. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and Savior. Amen.
