The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in lifting up this situation before our Mighty and Powerful God, and we thank Him that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus and that He is already speaking through her. We pray that He will strengthen her and give her boldness to continue to be a light in her brother's life.

We agree with you that truth must come to light and that deception and darkness cannot remain hidden. The Word tells us in Luke 8:17 For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. And in Ephesians 5:11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. We pray that any attempt to keep this sister in the dark about the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you will fail, and that the Lord will ensure she hears the truth with clarity and wisdom to respond in love. We pray that every hidden thing concerning that apartment and the danger you faced will be exposed, not for gossip but for justice, accountability and repentance.

We also bring before the Lord the sexual immorality you mentioned. We must speak plainly that a sexual relationship outside of marriage is sin before God, whether it is called fornication or adultery. Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We pray that the former landlord will be convicted of this sin and of any other idols that have taken God's place in his heart, and that both he and his sister will put God first in all things. As Jesus taught in Matthew 6:33 But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. We pray that our God will expose and destroy every idol, for He has commanded in Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me. We ask that He will give them hearts to turn from anything that competes with Him, whether it be money, lust, control, or power, and give them a new heart as promised in Ezekiel 36:26.

Concerning the grave accusation that this woman most likely hired people to try to kill you, we bring this deep distress to the Lord who sees all and who is our protector. We pray for your safety and peace, and we rest in Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We ask God to surround you with His protection and to let no weapon formed against you succeed. We also pray that the full truth about any plot to harm you will be revealed and that justice will be done in God's way. We are reminded in Romans 12:19 Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord for justice and also to seek help through the proper authorities as God has appointed them to promote what is good and to restrain evil, for in Proverbs 21:15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

We now pray together in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for this sister who knows You and we ask You to continue to speak through her with grace and truth, and to use her positive, godly influence to call her brother to repentance. Remove any veil of deception and let no one keep her in the dark about what has been done. Expose every lie, every dangerous and unjust act regarding this apartment, and every work of darkness. Convict the former landlord of his sin, including sexual immorality, and lead him to confess and forsake it. Destroy every idol in both of their lives and draw them to put You first above all else. Protect our friend who was placed in danger, heal the trauma and fear from these threats, and let Your perfect justice and mercy prevail. Let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified in this entire situation. We ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for bringing this burden to us. It is painful to feel unsafe in your own home and to carry concerns about what has been hidden and what has been done against you. We hear how much you are hoping the sister's faith will be a steady, truthful voice in her brother's life.

We are praying with you that God will keep speaking through her and give her wisdom and courage to speak clearly and lovingly, and that truth about the apartment and your experience will not stay in the dark. We are also praying that both of them will seek God first and that anything that has taken God's place will be brought into the light so it can be dealt with honestly.

Carrying this alone is heavy, and when safety feels at risk it helps to have wise, in person support alongside prayer. Father, we bring this sister before You and ask You to strengthen her walk with You and give her words that are true and gracious. We ask for protection and peace for our friend, for wisdom for all involved, and for Your light to expose what needs to be seen. Lead each one to put You first and to walk in Your ways. We have brought your burden before the Lord and we join you in prayer according to His holy will.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will keep her and make her fruitful. As fruit is the production of the tree's life and the end for which it exists, so obedience and holiness should be the product of a life created by God. We ask that she may abide in Christ, that the Spirit who bears witness because the Spirit is truth may strengthen her, and that the word of God dwelling richly in her may continue to speak through her faithful testimony and godly example. We pray that what is born of God in her will overcome the world, and that she will be kept from all that would draw her away from her first love.

We pray for the former landlord, that God would grant him repentance and a new heart. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, for filthiness of body and of life provokes the Most Holy One, and where obedience to God does not exist no love to God exists. The Scripture teaches that marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual union belongs within it alone. Any relationship outside of that bounds is sin before God and must be repented of, not celebrated. We pray that he will seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, that he will put God first and give true religion sovereignty over his life, that every idol would be exposed and destroyed, for the apostle says, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. We pray that he would hear the message from God to his own soul, that he would turn from his sin to the living and true God, and that he would know that salvation and eternal life are in the Son alone, for he that has the Son has life and he that has not the Son of God has not life.

We pray also concerning the apartment that was rented to you, that what has been hidden in darkness would be brought to light. It cannot be that God has left the world, it must be that the world has left God, and He still speaks through His word and through conscience to expose what is evil. We ask that the sister not be kept in the dark, but that the truth about the life threatening condition of that dwelling would be made known, and that any injustice would be revealed. We pray for your protection, for God grants protection to the persecuted and provides escape from the most perilous exposure. No sooner does Christ gather His people than opposition is stirred up, yet God has blessed His church even by persecution. We ask the Lord to restrain every hand raised to harm you, to bring to nothing any evil intent against your life, and to execute justice according to His righteousness. He that touches you touches the apple of His eye.

We pray that both the brother and sister would put God first, that the helm by which life is steered would be in the hands of God, and that to glorify God and promote righteousness would be their master passion. May they be first men and women of God, and may the cleansing of the outward life be accompanied by the putting away of sin from the heart.

We commend you also to the Lord, that you would continue to prove all things by the word, to seek Christ first, and to trust Him who is able to keep you. May the Lord make His word as hidden manna to your soul, and may you find grace dropping from it like honey from the comb as you walk in holiness before Him.
