The former landlord’s Christian sister

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord together, and we thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus and who seeks to be a light in her family. We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her, give her boldness and wisdom, and use her voice to speak truth in love to her brother. We ask that God will open the former landlord's heart to hear correction and to turn from any wrongdoing, that he would be convicted of sin and drawn to repentance rather than hardened in it.

We agree with you in praying that the truth will not remain hidden. What has been done in darkness, including the renting of a life threatening apartment and any evil intent to harm you, needs to be brought into the light for justice and for protection. Scripture reminds us that the eyes of Yahweh are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good in Proverbs 15:3, and that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light in Luke 8:17. We pray that the sister will not be kept in the dark, but that God in His sovereignty will reveal what she needs to know so she can intercede with understanding and so that deception will have no place to hide. We also pray as Ephesians 5:11 teaches to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

We must also address before the Lord the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. If they were not married as husband and wife, God calls this fornication, and if either was married to another, it is adultery. Both are serious sins against God. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality, and Hebrews 13:4 says God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. We pray that both individuals would be convicted of this sin, that they would turn from it completely, and that they would pursue purity and holiness. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God, and we pray that if they are to have any relationship at all, it would be one that seeks God's will in holiness or that they separate and seek repentance and restoration with the Lord individually.

We also lift up your safety and your call for justice. To hire people to try to kill someone is wicked and the Lord hates the shedding of innocent blood. We pray for your protection, that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1, and that He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways in Psalm 91:11. We pray that God will thwart every evil plan against you and that He will execute justice in His perfect way. Romans 12:19 reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, He will repay, so we place this into His hands while also encouraging you to seek help from the proper governing authorities whom God has established to restrain evil, and to take every lawful step to protect your life.

We agree with you that both the former landlord and his sister would put God first above family loyalty, money, comfort, or any other idol. Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:33 to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We pray that our mighty and powerful God will expose and destroy every idol that has taken His place in their hearts, for Exodus 20:3 says you shall have no other gods before me, and 1 John 5:21 exhorts us to keep ourselves from idols. May any idol of greed, lust, power, or self preservation be torn down and may Christ alone be enthroned.

Heavenly Father, we come before you together in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to you and there is no other name by which we can be saved as Acts 4:12 declares. We ask you to speak clearly through this sister, to anoint her words, to protect her from discouragement, and to make her a vessel of truth and grace. We ask you to convict her brother of any negligence, dishonesty, and sexual sin, and to lead him to repentance and to restitution where it is needed. Expose every hidden work of darkness, protect your child who was endangered, frustrate the plans of those who intend harm, and let your justice and mercy prevail. Cleanse hearts from idols and draw both of them to put you first in all things. We trust you as our refuge and righteous judge, and we pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We are carrying this burden with you before the Lord and we hear how heavy this has felt, especially the concern about safety and wanting truth to come into the light.

We are praying for the sister you mentioned, that the Lord would strengthen her faith and give her wisdom and clarity in how she loves both you and her brother. We are also praying for you, for peace and protection as you process what happened in that apartment, and for God to guide what should be brought into the open and what is best entrusted to Him.

When there are serious concerns about housing conditions or feeling unsafe, it can help to have steady support around you. If you have not already, consider sharing what you have documented with a trusted pastor or advocate who can help you think through next steps calmly, and if you ever feel in immediate danger, please reach out right away to local emergency services and to safe people near you.

Father, we lift this sister to You, thank You for her faith and ask You to keep her close to You and give her discernment. We lift our friend who wrote, asking for Your protection, Your peace, and Your clear leading. We ask that You would be first in each life involved and that anything that has taken Your place would be exposed and lose its hold. Lead each one toward what is true and good, and guard them in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your burden to the throne of grace and have pleaded with the Lord on your behalf, and on behalf of those of whom you speak.

Your affliction has been sore, and it has come to you through the hands of men, yet we remind you that no trial lies outside the sacred fence of providential overruling. The Lord has chastened you, but He has not given you over unto death. Every rod in His house, though it wounds, is in the hand of a Father, and even when malice and persecution are the second causes, the first cause is the love of Him who will make all things work for your good. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes, and look to Him who alone can deliver.

We join you in prayer for the sister who has faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will indeed continue to speak through her, that her lips may be filled with the Word of God and not the words of man, and that she may walk in wisdom and courage. We ask that no darkness may hide the truth from her, but that what has been done in secret may be brought to light in the spirit of truth and love, so that she may be a faithful witness within her own household. May the Lord give her discernment and boldness to speak of sin and of righteousness and of judgment to come, and to adorn that testimony with a gentle and quiet spirit.

We pray also for her brother, your former landlord, and for the woman of whom you speak. We cannot ask God to bless any union or any practice which His Word calls sin, for He has ordained that marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the intimacies of that estate belong within it alone. To ask a blessing upon what He forbids would be to ask Him to deny Himself. Instead we pray that He will deliver them from the power of darkness and translate them into the kingdom of His dear Son. We pray that He will expose and destroy every idol that has set itself up against His honor, that profit and lust and self will may be broken down, and that they may come to see their need of a ransom. God has found a ransom in the precious blood of His Son, and when the poor soul seems ready to go down to the pit, His voice is heard to say, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom. We pray that such mercy may lay hold upon them, that they may put God first, forsake every evil way, and flee to Christ for cleansing and new life. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

For you, who have suffered in a life threatening habitation and who fear the designs of the violent, we pray that the Lord will be your keeper. He who delivered you hitherto will deliver you still. He can snap the bands of evil habits in others and He can restrain the hand of the cruel. We pray that He will be your shield, that He will bring every hidden and murderous intent to nothing, and that He will establish justice according to His perfect will. We pray that He will guard your heart from bitterness, and give you grace to wait only upon God, for your expectation is from Him. May you live to declare the works of the Lord, and to sing with those who have been rescued from worse enemies by a greater salvation.

O Lord, our God, look upon this our brother or sister in affliction. Cover them with Your wing. Let Your truth be known in that family. Break the power of sin, destroy the idols, and let Christ be enthroned. Deliver from going down to the pit all who yet may be saved by the ransom which You have provided, and let Your name have the glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Redeemer. Amen.
