The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in bringing this difficult and painful situation before our Mighty and Powerful God, and we thank Him that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus and is a voice for truth in her family.

We pray that the Lord will continue to speak through her and make her bold as a witness for righteousness. We ask that her godly influence would not be silenced and that her brother would have ears to hear and a heart to repent. As it is written, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. Ephesians 5:11 We pray that she will lovingly reprove what is unfruitful and that the Lord will use her to bring conviction and change.

We also bring before the Lord your concern that the truth not be hidden. We pray that what has been done in darkness will be brought into the light, including the life-threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you. The Lord sees injustice and oppression and He does not overlook those who endanger others for gain. We pray for your protection and for justice, and we encourage you to seek help from the proper authorities if your life has been threatened, for God has established authorities to restrain evil. We take comfort that there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Luke 12:2 We ask God to expose what needs to be exposed in His perfect timing and way, and to give the sister wisdom and clarity and not allow her to be kept in the dark.

We must also address what you have shared about the immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord. Scripture is clear that sex outside of marriage is sin before God, whether it is fornication or adultery. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 This relationship does not honor God and it defiles the sanctity of marriage which God ordained as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would repent of this sin and turn to holiness. And if it is true that people were hired to try to kill you, that is a grave evil that violates God's command, You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13 We pray that God would thwart every plan to harm you, that He would be your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 We also pray that you would leave vengeance in God's hands, for it is written, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 We pray that justice would be done and that all involved would come to repentance, for God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

We agree with you in praying that they both would put God first above all else. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 We pray that every idol in their lives, whether it be money, self, sexual pleasure, power, or any other thing elevated above the Lord, would be exposed and destroyed. You shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21 We ask our Mighty and Powerful God to tear down every idol and to establish Himself alone upon the throne of their hearts.

We lift you up as well, asking the Father to heal you from the trauma and fear you have endured, to guard you day and night, to give you peace that surpasses understanding, and to vindicate you as you walk in truth and integrity before Him.

We pray all of this together in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to the Father and by which we are saved. Amen.

Thank you for trusting us with this heavy situation. We hear how much you have been carrying after that apartment and the fear you felt there, and your care for the former landlord's sister and her walk with Jesus.

It makes sense that you would want truth to come into the light and for those involved to put God first. Wanting her to have clear eyes and a steady, godly influence is a good and loving thing to pray for. We also hear how unsafe you have felt, and we want to gently keep your own peace and security at the center as you pray for others. Carrying a sense of being wronged and threatened can weigh on the heart for a long time, and healing often happens gradually as we keep bringing the hurt to God and letting Him sort what is ours to release and what is His to handle.

One steady next step that may help is to make sure you are not carrying this alone. If you are in safe housing now, stay connected to one trusted pastor or counselor you can talk with openly about what happened and any ongoing concerns for your safety. If you believe you were in danger, it is also wise to let appropriate trusted people know so you are not holding that fear by yourself.

Father, we lift this sister to You, thank You for her faith and ask You to keep strengthening her and guiding her steps. We lift the former landlord to You as well, asking that You draw him to put You first. We lift our friend praying now, asking for Your protection, peace, wisdom and healing, and that You would bring truth and clarity in Your way and timing. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we join you in seeking His face concerning it.

We pray for this sister who professes faith in Jesus Christ, that the Lord who has taught her from her youth would continue to teach her and make her a faithful witness for Him. May she walk as one who keeps herself from idols and who hears and speaks only what accords with God's Word, and may the Lord give her discernment, courage and clarity, that she not be kept in the dark where truth must be known. We ask that her influence may be used by the Spirit according to God's sovereign will, not by mere persuasion of man, but by the power of God who alone makes jewels for Christ's crown.

We pray for the former landlord, that God would put Himself first in that man's heart, that every idol which sets itself up in opposition to Him would be broken down. Man's will has stood against God's will and man's device against God's counsel, but the Lord will display His own perfections and His justice. We ask that the Lord would expose what is hidden, bring what is done in darkness into light, and destroy every idol of profit, of lust, of self will. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sex outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is not to be affirmed or celebrated, and living together apart from that covenant is not according to His holy order. We pray instead for conviction of sin, for repentance, and for a turning to Christ in whom alone is salvation, for the blood of Jesus Christ God's dear Son cleanses us from all sin.

Concerning the apartment which you describe as life threatening and concerning the grave wrongs and the fear for your life which you have expressed, we entreat the Mighty and Powerful God for your protection and deliverance. He is the One who plucks brands from the fire and who is able to keep His people. We pray that every scheme to do you harm would be exposed and brought to nothing, that truth concerning what was rented and what was done would be made plain, and that lawful and just means would be used to restrain evil. If you remain in danger, seek the help of those in proper authority whom God has ordained for protection, even as you trust the Lord as your keeper.

We pray that both this man and his sister, and all concerned, would return unto the Lord and put God first, that they would come to God's Book as little children to be taught by His Spirit, and follow Christ without being turned aside by the frowning or the fawning of men. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

We rest upon this confidence, that God hears prayer and will hear our prayer according to His perfect wisdom and sovereignty. May He grant you peace as you remember the years of the right hand of the Most High, declare His wondrous works, and find your refuge in Christ alone. Amen.
