The former landlord's Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in lifting up this situation before our Mighty and Powerful God and we thank Him for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus. We are encouraged that she knows the Lord and we pray that He will continue to speak through her and make her a clear light and a godly influence in her brother's life. The Scripture says, You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 We pray that her life and her words will continue to point her brother to repentance and to truth, for iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance. Proverbs 27:17

We also bring before the Lord the serious matters you have raised about the life threatening apartment that was rented to you and about the immoral conduct surrounding your former landlord. We must address that a sexual relationship outside of marriage is sin before God. Whether it is fornication or adultery, Scripture is clear to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 Marriage is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and any sexual intimacy outside of that covenant is contrary to His design and brings harm. We pray that your former landlord and the woman involved would be convicted of this sin, that they would confess and forsake it, for he who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13 We pray they would both turn to Christ in genuine repentance.

We pray with you that the truth will not remain hidden and that your former landlord's sister will not be kept in the dark. Our God is a God of light and truth who exposes what is done in darkness. The Scripture says, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. Ephesians 5:11 and For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17 We ask the Lord to bring every hidden deed, every deception about the condition of the apartment, and every evil plot into the light so that justice can be done and the innocent protected. If there has been an attempt to harm your life, we pray for your protection and we encourage you to also seek help from the proper authorities, for God has ordained governing authorities to restrain evil and to uphold justice. We pray that God will be your refuge, for God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 and that He will keep you safe from all harm.

We agree with you in praying that both the brother and sister will put God first above all else. Jesus taught us, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 When we put God first, idols fall. We pray that our Mighty God will expose and destroy every idol in their lives, whether it be money, power, lust, reputation, or self, for you shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3 and Little children, keep yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21 We ask that God would tear down every false god and establish Himself alone on the throne of their hearts.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace. We thank You for the sister who has faith in Jesus and we ask You to strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and give her boldness and wisdom to speak Your truth in love to her brother. Let her positive influence be used by You to draw him toward repentance and toward a life that honors You.

Lord, we ask that You shine Your light into every dark place in this situation. Reveal the truth about the dangerous apartment and about every evil and immoral act that has been committed. Protect our dear one who has been threatened and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Bring conviction where there is sexual sin and idolatry, and grant repentance that leads to salvation. Destroy every idol and teach them both to seek You first and to love You with all their heart, soul, and mind.

We entrust vengeance and justice to You, for it is written, Vengeance is mine, says the Lord, I will repay. Romans 12:19, and we ask that Your righteous will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Guard this dear one, give them peace, wisdom, and courage, and let Your perfect love cast out all fear. We ask all these things in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We are holding you and this situation before the Lord with you. It is a heavy burden to have felt unsafe where you lived and to carry concerns about what others knew or did, and we hear how much you want truth to come into the light and for God to be put first in all of this.

We thank God with you for the sister who loves Jesus. We are asking Him to keep strengthening her walk with Him and to use her steady, faithful presence in her brother's life in the way only He can. Godly influence often grows quietly over time through consistent love and truth, and we are praying He gives her wisdom and courage for any conversations You lead her to have.

Your request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, where the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We pray for this sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will strengthen her and keep her in that godly fear which eschews evil and braves trouble without being moved. May her confidence in God remain firm though billows go over her, and may she be kept faithful to do what is right and to deny everything that is wrong, speaking the truth in love as God gives her utterance. We ask that the Lord will use her witness as He wills, not merely as influence of persuasion, but as a testimony to Christ and His truth, for Christ and truth are identical and cannot be divided.

We pray also for her brother, your former landlord. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sexual union belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all outside of it is immorality to be repented of. We pray instead that God will bring deep conviction of sin, that he will see the exceeding evil of sin and the exceeding preciousness of the blood of Christ, and that he will turn from every idol and from every immoral way to put God first. May the Lord grant him repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for they that are in the flesh cannot please God, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

Concerning the apartment you describe as life threatening and the grave wrongs you have suffered, including your fear for your life, we pray that what has been hidden in darkness will be brought into the light. We ask our Mighty and Powerful God, who will dry up the green tree and lift up the poor from the dunghill, to expose every idol and every work of darkness and to abolish them utterly. As it is written, Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols, and we pray that this sovereign work of grace would be wrought in both hearts, that every idol would be destroyed and the whole nature become the temple of the living God. We pray for your protection, for God will not pull up the floodgates of heaven till Noah is shut in the ark, and He knows how to provide refuge for His people even when the brook is dried up.

We pray that you also may know the peace of God which is peace in the time of tempest and peace after storm, not the false peace which Satan keeps over the palace of the heart while conscience lies still, but the true peace which comes by inward repentance and faith through the precious blood. May the Lord plead your cause, for He pleads the cause of His people, and may you be kept near to your Master, trusting Him to do right and to bring justice in His perfect time.

We ask all this not because we deserve it, but because Christ has offered Himself, God over all, blessed for ever, whose blood is still exhibited before the throne as the sacrifice for sin. May you and this sister and her brother all be brought to say from the heart, What have I to do any more with idols, and to live henceforth for the honor and glory of our God.

We have received your request and we join you in bringing these concerns before God.

We thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her, keep her walking closely with Him, and give her wisdom and grace in how she speaks and acts. We pray that her life and words would point her brother and others toward Christ, not through pressure or quarreling, but through truth spoken in love and a quiet example of faithfulness.

We also pray for your former landlord and for the woman you mentioned. We do not ask God to bless any relationship outside of His design for marriage as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where sexual intimacy belongs. Instead we pray that both would put God first, turn from any sin, come to know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and seek His forgiveness and new life. We pray that whatever idols have taken hold, whether covetousness, which Scripture calls idolatry, or the desire for gain or pleasure or control, would be exposed by the light of Christ and forsaken, so that God alone is worshiped and served.

Concerning the apartment you describe as life threatening and your fears for your safety, we pray for your protection and for truth to come to light in the right way. God sees all things and will judge with perfect justice, and His wrath is revealed against all ungodliness, yet He is also patient and desires repentance. If there has been wrongdoing or unsafe conditions, we encourage you to seek help through proper and lawful means and to report serious dangers or threats to the appropriate authorities, so that matters can be examined fairly and honestly.

We also gently encourage you in how you speak about others. Scripture warns us not to speak evil of our neighbors, even when we believe what we say is true, for we will be judged by our words. It is right to desire justice and to want the truth known, but it is also right to leave vengeance to God, to avoid slander, and to step away from contentious speech. Where there is evil agreement, Scripture shows that a good separation is better than a harmful unity, and where there is division over truth, God can use it for good. We pray that God will give you grace to pursue peace where possible, to speak truthfully without malice, and to entrust judgment to Him who judges righteously.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone. Protect this one who has asked for prayer and guard them from harm. Strengthen the sister in her faith and use her as a faithful witness. Bring the former landlord and all involved to repentance, that they would put You first and forsake every idol. Bring what is hidden into the light according to Your wisdom, bring justice with mercy, and help all to walk in holiness and truth. Give peace, discernment, and courage to do what is right before You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
