The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join with you in prayer concerning this difficult and serious situation, and we thank God for the Christian sister of your former landlord and for her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and speak through her as a light and a witness to her brother.

We are reminded that a godly influence within a family is powerful, for we know that bad company corrupts good morals as written in 1 Corinthians 15:33, but also that the faithful witness of a believer can call others toward repentance. We pray that her life and words will be used by God to convict her brother and to draw him to put God first in all things. Jesus taught in Matthew 6:33, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We pray that both the former landlord and his sister will seek God first above all other loyalties, interests, or idols.

We also bring before the Lord your concern that the truth would not remain hidden. You have shared about a life-threatening apartment that was rented to you and about an immoral sexual relationship and even attempts on your life. We pray for your protection and for justice and truth to prevail. Scripture says in Luke 8:17, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. And also in Ephesians 5:11, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. We ask our Mighty and Powerful God to expose what has been done in darkness and to bring it into His light, so that deception cannot continue and so that the sister is not kept in the dark about matters that involve danger and wrongdoing.

We must also address what you have described about the sexual relationship outside of marriage. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman, and that sex outside of marriage is fornication, and if involving a married person, adultery. We are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We rebuke this immorality and pray that the former landlord and this woman would repent and turn from this sin, for God calls all to holiness and purity. If this woman has indeed been involved in hiring others to try to harm you, that is grave evil, and we pray that God would restrain evil, bring repentance or justice, and protect you from all harm. In Romans 12:19 it is written, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We trust God to be your defender and judge.

You also asked that God would expose and destroy every idol. We agree in prayer against all idolatry, for God commands in Exodus 20:3, You shall have no other gods before me. Whatever is put before God, whether it be money, property, power, relationships, or self, must be torn down. We pray that God would reveal any idols in their hearts and in this situation and destroy their hold, so that Christ alone is enthroned.

We lift you up as well and pray for your safety and peace. In Psalm 91:1-2 we read, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. We ask God to be your refuge, to surround you with His protection, and to give you wisdom and peace as you seek His will.

We thank God that this request was brought with faith in Jesus, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. As Jesus said in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. We rest in His name and His finished work on the cross for our salvation, and we pray all these things in that precious name.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift up the sister who loves You and ask You to fill her with boldness, wisdom, and discernment, and to speak through her to her brother. Let her not be deceived or kept from the truth, but show her what she needs to know to be a faithful witness and to stand for what is right. Convict the former landlord of any wrongdoing regarding this apartment and his immoral relationship, and bring him to repentance and to putting You first. Expose every hidden deed of darkness and destroy every idol that has taken Your place. Protect our dear one who has been threatened and wronged, cover them with Your hand, bring justice in Your perfect time, and let Your truth and righteousness prevail. Turn hearts from fornication and evil toward holiness, and let Your will be done in all of this. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been to carry, and we are grateful you brought it to us to pray over. It makes sense you would want truth to come into the light, especially when you felt unsafe in your housing, and that you would hope the sister who loves Jesus could be a steady, honest voice for her brother.

We are praying with you that God would continue to work through her life and influence, that both she and her brother would seek Him first above anything else that competes for their hearts, and that what is hidden would be made clear in God's way and timing. We also pray for your own peace and protection as you process what happened. When fear about safety lingers, it helps not to carry it alone, so if you are still feeling threatened or unsettled about housing, please reach out to a trusted pastor, counselor, or a safe person nearby who can walk with you in person and help you think through next steps.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Keep guiding her and give her wisdom and courage. We ask You to lead her brother toward You, to expose and remove anything that has taken Your place in his life, and to bring truth and justice where it is needed. We have brought your petition before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in seeking His holy will.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, that the Lord who has given her faith in Jesus Christ will keep her and strengthen her to walk faithfully and to speak the truth in love. May Divine Grace give her wisdom and courage, that she may not be kept in darkness concerning those things which concern her brother's stewardship and conduct, but that what has been hidden may be brought into the light, for all things are naked and open before Him with whom we have to do. We ask that her influence may be used by the Spirit for good, not to excuse sin but to call to repentance and to holiness.

We pray also for the former landlord and for the woman you name. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sexual union belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all that lies outside that covenant is contrary to His design and must be repented of. We pray instead that the Mighty God would expose every idol and destroy its power over their hearts, that He would grant them conviction of sin, and bring them to put God first and to seek salvation through Jesus Christ alone. In His mercy may He lead them to turn from immorality and from all wrongdoing, to confess their sin and to walk in newness of life. We ask that justice may be done righteously and that no scheme of harm may prosper, for vengeance belongeth unto the Lord.

For you who have suffered in a dwelling that has threatened life, we pray that the Lord will perfect that which concerneth you. He who creates to display His perfections and who subjects even evil to His eternal purpose can bring good from affliction and make persecution itself an omen of good. May He be your protection, your shelter and your deliverer. We pray that you may be kept from being overcome of evil, and that by Divine Grace you may overcome evil with good, not returning evil for evil, which is easy and natural, but leaving judgment in the hands of Him who judgeth righteously. May the everlasting arches of Divine Mercy sustain all the weight of your trouble and fear.

We ask these things trusting not in ourselves, who are but clay upon the wheel, but in the blood of Christ which can wash the deepest stain, and in the sovereignty of God who reigns over all things, over sorrow and pain as well as joy, and who will at last make the low tree to flourish and lay the high tree of pride and iniquity in the dust. May the presence of God dissolve your difficulties and grant you peace, and may His will be done in truth and holiness.

We join you in prayer before our mighty and powerful God who alone saves through Jesus Christ and who calls all people to put Him first.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will strengthen her, keep her in truth, and continue to speak through her according to His Word. We ask that He give her wisdom, courage and clarity, and that her influence as a believer would be used for good, calling her brother toward repentance and the fear of God.

We pray for your former landlord, that God would convict his heart and turn him from every idol. Scripture teaches that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry, for it makes a god of gain and of our own desires. We ask that God expose and destroy every idol in his life, whether love of money, neglect of duty to others, or any other created thing put in place of the Creator, and bring him to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

We pray concerning the apartment you describe and the serious wrongs you have suffered. We ask that God bring what is hidden into the light in His perfect justice and mercy, that the truth about the condition of that dwelling and about any wrongdoing would be made known, and that the sister would not be kept in darkness about matters that concern life and safety. We pray also concerning the sexual relationship you mention. God has ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and calls all sexual union to belong within it. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but we pray for repentance, for purity, and for all involved to turn from immorality and to walk in holiness.

We pray for your protection and for justice. God is both just and merciful, and He defends those who are wronged. We ask that He guard your life, grant you peace, and provide lawful and righteous means for truth to be established and for harm to be prevented, without hatred or desire for revenge. May He teach us even while we suffer to show restraint and to leave vengeance to Him, trusting His judgments which are true and right.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, that both brother and sister, and all concerned, would put God first, forsake idols, and walk in obedience to Him.
