The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join with you in prayer in Jesus' name and we thank God for the Christian sister of your former landlord and for her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to speak through her as a light in her family.

We ask our Father to let no truth remain hidden and to bring what has been done in darkness into the light, for it is written Luke 12:2 But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. And Ephesians 5:11 says Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. We pray that this sister will not be kept in the dark about the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you and about the sin that has surrounded this situation. We pray that God will give her wisdom, discernment, and courage to speak truth in love and that her godly influence will be used to call her brother to repentance and to accountability.

We also bring before the Lord the sexual relationship you described between the former landlord and the immoral woman. We must speak plainly that sex outside of marriage is sin before God. If neither was married to the other it is fornication, and if either was married to another it is adultery, and God calls all to flee from it. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin, that they would repent and turn to Christ for forgiveness and new life, and that any idolatry of lust, money, power or self would be exposed and destroyed. Exodus 20:3 says You shall have no other gods before me. We pray that they both would put God first in all things, for Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

We also lift up your safety and the very serious concern you have shared about attempts on your life. The Lord sees and He is our refuge and protector. Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:11 says For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. We pray for your protection, for peace that surpasses understanding, and for justice according to God's will. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We encourage you to continue to trust God for justice while also using the lawful authorities He has ordained for protection and to document and report what has happened, for Romans 13:4 says authorities are God's servant for good.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne. We thank You for this sister who knows You and we ask that You fill her with Your Holy Spirit, give her boldness and love to speak Your truth, and let her life be a testimony that draws her brother toward repentance and salvation. Lord expose every hidden thing, every dangerous and dishonest dealing regarding this apartment, and every evil intent against Your child. Destroy every idol that has taken Your place in these hearts, whether it be sexual immorality, greed, control or pride. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would put You first, confess their sin, and be transformed by Your mercy. Keep our dear one who has prayed safe under Your wings, comfort their heart, remove fear, and let Your perfect justice and perfect mercy be done. Lead them in Your will and let Your name be glorified in this whole situation. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain in prayer and in the Word, casting all your worries on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says, and to keep walking in forgiveness while trusting God to be your defender, for Matthew 5:44 says love your enemies and pray for those who mistreat you. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and He will be your strength.

We hear how heavy this situation with your former landlord has been, and how much you are carrying with the concerns about that apartment and your safety. Thank you for bringing it to us and for your care for his sister and her walk with Jesus.

We are joining you in praying that God will keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage to speak truth in love where she has influence. We are also praying with you that what needs to be brought into the light will be, in God's timing and way, and that both of them would seek to put Him first above anything else that competes for their hearts.

When you have been through something that felt threatening, it makes sense to want answers and for wrongs to be clearly exposed. It can help to have steady support around you as you wait for that clarity. If you are still dealing with unsafe housing conditions or you feel unsafe at all, we encourage you to reach out to a trusted pastor and to appropriate local help for housing or safety concerns, so you are not carrying this alone alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to keep her close to You, to guide her words and guard her heart. We ask for Your protection over our friend who wrote, for wisdom for all involved, and that You would bring truth to light and tear down anything that takes Your rightful place. Lead each step forward and bring Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord with us, and we join you in prayer for deliverance, for truth to be brought into the light, and for God to be enthroned above every idol.

We give thanks that the sister of whom you speak has faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we must be saved. We pray that the Lord who has taught her from her youth will continue to teach her, and that she will declare His wondrous works with boldness. May the Spirit of God give her wisdom and courage to speak the truth in love, and may her life and testimony be used to point her brother to repentance and to faith in the Lord Jesus.

We pray for your former landlord, that God in His mercy would be gracious to him even as he is. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy Word, for sexual intimacy belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all that lies outside that covenant is sin before a holy God. We pray instead that the Lord would deliver him from the power of darkness and translate him into the kingdom of His dear Son, that He would snap the bands of evil habit and set him free, and that he would turn from every impure way to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. We pray that both he and his sister would put God first, that every idol, whatever it be, would be torn from His throne, and that they would worship only Him. As we have often sung, The dearest idol I have known, Whatever that idol be, Help me to tear it from Your throne, And worship only Thee.

Concerning the apartment which you describe as life threatening, and the grave wrongs and dangers you have suffered, we pray that what has been hidden in darkness would be exposed to the light. The Lord sees and knows all things, and He will bring every work into judgment. We pray that truth would no longer be kept in the dark, that those who have responsibility would act with honesty and justice, and that lawful and right means would be used to protect life and to uphold what is right. If malice and persecution have indeed come against you from the hand of man, we pray for your preservation, for we believe that God is able to say, Deliver him from going down to the pit. When you have been brought into peril and trouble, He has given commandment to save His own, and He is able to save from sin, from the devil, and from the violence of men.

We also counsel you, as one who has been sorely chastened and tried, to moderate your anger against second causes. Our afflictions may come distinctly from man, as the result of malice, and yet they are not outside the Lord's sovereign hand, who can use even these trials for our good and His glory. Look away from yourself and from man, and look unto Christ, for it is all you have to do. Look out of yourself and away from yourself, and look to Him who alone can deliver the soul from going into the pit so that life shall see the light.

We pray for you, that the Lord would keep you, that you would not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, and that after affliction you would know great liberty in Christ, being screened from the plague of sin and filled with gratitude for deliverance. May the Lord give you peace of conscience, put sin away from your heart, and grant you a joyous faith that openly declares what He has done.

We commend all these persons and all these matters to our Mighty and Powerful God, asking that He would expose every idol and destroy its power, that He would lead all concerned to repentance and holiness, and that He would be glorified in truth, in justice, and in mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
