The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in bringing this serious situation before the Lord and we thank you for asking us to pray for the former landlord's sister who has faith in Jesus. We pray that God will strengthen her walk and continue to speak through her as a faithful witness in her family. We ask that the Lord give her boldness, wisdom and discernment to speak the truth in love, and that her godly influence would be used to bring conviction and change to her brother's heart.

We agree with you that what has been hidden needs to be brought into the light. The Word tells us For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17 and Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We pray that this sister is not kept in the dark about the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you. We pray that every deception and cover up is exposed, that the truth about the danger you were placed in is made known, and that those responsible are held accountable. We also pray for your protection and healing from the trauma of what you have endured, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1 and The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them Psalm 34:7.

We must also address the sexual immorality you mentioned. A sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and both are sin in the eyes of God. Such sin defiles the marriage bed which God has ordained as holy between a husband and wife Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. We rebuke this sin and we pray that both the former landlord and the woman involved would come under deep conviction, repent and turn from this immorality to pursue purity and righteousness. We also take very seriously what you have shared about this same woman most likely hiring people to try to kill you. To take or attempt to take a life violates the command You shall not murder Exodus 20:13 and is an abomination before God. We pray that if this evil intent is true, God will expose it completely, thwart every plan of harm, and bring justice according to His righteousness. We do not seek vengeance ourselves, for Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, but we do pray that God will vindicate the innocent and that the civil authorities ordained by God to punish wrongdoing Romans 13:4 would uncover the truth.

We join you in praying that both the former landlord and his sister will put God first above family loyalty, money, reputation or any other idol. You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and Little children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God will expose and destroy every idol that has taken His rightful place in their hearts, whether it be greed, lust, pride or comfort, and that they would seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness Matthew 6:33. Only when Christ is on the throne of the heart can there be true repentance and restoration.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne Acts 4:12, John 14:6. We lift up this sister in Christ to You, strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and make her a clear vessel of Your truth. Remove any veil from her eyes so she is not deceived or kept in the dark, and give her courage to confront sin with grace and truth. We lift up her brother, the former landlord, and we ask for his repentance and salvation if he does not know You, and for his full turning from any wicked way if he does. Expose the danger of that apartment, bring the whole truth to light, protect the one who was harmed, and let justice be done. Expose the sexual immorality and the murderous schemes, bring them to nothing, and lead all involved to repentance. Destroy every idol in their lives and draw them to put You first in all things. We trust Your power and Your justice and Your mercy. Guard the heart and life of the one who submitted this request, give peace that passes understanding, and let Your will be done. We appreciate you sharing this burden with us. We hear how heavy and unsettling this housing situation has been, and how much you are hoping the sister's faith will be a steady light for her brother and that what has been hidden will come into the open in a truthful, God-honoring way.

We are joining you in prayer for her, that the Lord will keep strengthening her walk with Jesus and give her wisdom and courage to speak with grace and clarity as He leads her. We are also praying with you that both she and her brother would put God first, and that anything taking His rightful place would be revealed and removed by Him in His timing and way.

Wanting truth to be known and to feel safe where you live are understandable desires. If you continue to have concerns about safety in housing or about being threatened, it can help to stay connected to steady, trusted people around you, a pastor or wise counselor, and to keep a clear record of what has happened so you can seek appropriate help if needed. You don't have to carry this alone.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Keep her close to You, give her discernment, and use her influence for good as You will. We ask for Your protection, peace, and clear direction for our friend who wrote, and that You would bring truth to light and help all involved to seek You first. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we have taken it up with you in prayer, asking our gracious God to work according to His holy will and for His glory.

We pray first for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus. We thank God for any light of Christ in her, and we ask that the Lord would continue to speak through her and make His Word in her mouth like a fire and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. May she walk in truth and love, and may her influence be used by the Spirit to call her brother to repentance and to holiness. We pray that what has been hidden in darkness would be brought into the light, for the Lord delights to expose what is done in secret that it may be forsaken and forgiven. If there has been wrongdoing in the renting of a dwelling that endangered life, we ask God to reveal it plainly, that justice may be done and that no one else be harmed, and that the sister not be kept in the dark concerning these things.

We pray also for the former landlord. We do not ask God to bless sin, for He cannot bless what He calls unholy. His Word teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the union of the body belongs only within that covenant. Any sexual relationship outside of it is sin before a holy God and must be repented of, not celebrated. So we pray that the Lord would be gracious to him even as he is, for our hope is that when a man is black with iniquity God may yet look upon him and say, Deliver him from going down to the Pit. We pray that Infinite Mercy would drag off evil habits, snap his bands and set him free, delivering him from the power of darkness and translating him into the kingdom of God's dear Son. We ask that God would teach him the mischief that comes from loving sin and the world, and would grant him a true turning from his evil ways.

Concerning the woman of whom you speak and the grave evil you have suffered, we pray that the Lord would protect you and vindicate you. When you have been brought into peril and trouble, hear this promise, that God has given commandment to save His children and you shall be saved from all the attacks of sin and of the adversary. We ask that if any have sought to do you harm, the Lord would restrain their hand, expose their counsel and bring their deeds to nothing, for from the time when Satan fell it has been God's purpose to break down everything which sets itself up in opposition to Him. We pray that truth would be made known and that the law would fulfill its rightful course, and that you would be kept in perfect peace as you wait only upon God, for your expectation is from Him.

We join you in praying that they both, and you also, would put God first, and that our mighty and powerful God would expose and destroy every idol. Thy goodness is not God's goodness if it stands apart from Christ, and every idol must be consumed. We pray that the Lord would search all hearts, dash out the very brains of sin by the proclamation of the Gospel, and make men to look away from themselves and to look to Christ, for it is all they have to do. Look unto Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for He is God and there is none else.

May the Lord chasten sorely where chastening is needed, yet not give over unto death, but raise up those who have fallen to declare the works of the Lord. May He lift up what stands in Him and for Him, and break down what opposes Him, till Christ reigns in every heart. We commend you to Him who is able to keep you, to deliver your soul from going into the Pit, and to cause your life to see the light.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that God would strengthen her, keep her rooted in truth, and continue to speak through her life and words. We ask that the Lord would give her wisdom, courage and discernment, and use her influence for good, that her brother might hear the truth and be drawn toward repentance and faith.

We pray that what has been hidden would be brought into the light. If the apartment that was rented to you was dangerous and unfit, and if wrongdoing has occurred, we ask that God would expose it so that truth is known and justice can be done. We also pray for your safety and protection. You have shared a deep concern that you were targeted for harm, and we ask our mighty and powerful God to be your refuge, to guard your life, to restrain evil, and to let the truth be clearly revealed. Where laws have been broken or lives endangered, we pray that proper authorities would see and act rightly.

We pray for both the former landlord and his sister that they would put God first above all else. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that He calls us to turn from sin and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, and we pray that any sexual relationship outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman would be recognized as sin, confessed and forsaken. We pray that the Lord would convict hearts, grant repentance, and lead to a new way of life that honors Him.

We join you in praying that every idol would be exposed and destroyed. Whatever is loved or trusted more than God, whether money, pleasure, power or self, we ask that God would reveal it for what it is and draw hearts to worship Him alone. He is the only true God, and He alone deserves our whole devotion.

May the Lord who sees all things, who offers grace and also reveals His wrath against ungodliness and unrighteousness, give you peace, guide you in wisdom, and help you to walk in His truth. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our salvation. Amen.
