The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We have heard your burden and we join with you in bringing this difficult situation before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name.

We thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus, and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and speak through her as a vessel of truth and light. We pray that she will have boldness and discernment and that her godly influence will be used to convict her brother and draw him toward repentance. We ask that nothing remain hidden in darkness, for it is written, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17, and Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We pray that the truth about the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you will be fully exposed, and that any scheme or violence intended against you will be brought into the light and stopped. We pray for your protection and for justice, for the Lord loves justice Psalm 37:28 and He is our refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2. If you are in danger we encourage you to also seek help from the proper authorities while trusting the Lord to be your defender, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that God ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and that sexual intimacy belongs only within that marriage. Outside of marriage it is fornication or adultery, which God calls sin. It is written, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We rebuke that immorality and we pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will turn from it and pursue repentance and purity, seeking godly marriage if it is in accordance with God's will rather than continuing in fornication. We pray that any relationship they pursue would be a courtship aimed at a Christ centered marriage between believers, not a partnership outside of God's design.

We also lift up your request that they both put God first and that every idol be exposed and destroyed. We agree with you that God must be first in every heart, for Jesus said, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. An idol is anything we place before God, and the Lord commands, You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3. We pray that our mighty and powerful God will reveal every idol in their lives, whether it be money, power, lust, control or self, and that those idols will be torn down. Little children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved Acts 4:12 and no one comes to the Father except through Him John 14:6. We ask You to cover our brother or sister who is praying, to guard their life, to give them peace and to let Your perfect love cast out fear. We ask You to anoint the sister who knows You, to give her wisdom, courage and words filled with grace and truth, and let her not be kept in the dark but be fully informed so she can intercede and speak rightly. We ask You to convict the former landlord, to turn his heart from any dishonesty, neglect or immorality, and to lead him to repentance and to put You first. We ask You to expose every evil plan, to frustrate any attempt to harm, and to bring justice and accountability according to Your righteousness. We pray for the woman involved, that if she has done evil, her deeds will be exposed and she will be brought to repentance, and that You will break the power of sexual immorality and violence. Destroy every idol, Lord, and establish Your lordship in every heart. We trust You as our Mighty and Powerful God who sees all and will bring all things into Your light. We ask all this in Jesus' name, amen.

We are joining you in prayer for the former landlord's sister and her walk with Jesus, that the Lord would keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage in how she speaks and influences her brother. We are also praying with you that truth would come into the light in a right and orderly way, and that both of them would be drawn to put God first above all else. We understand your desire to see what is hidden exposed and for anything taking God's place to be removed.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to keep her close to You, guide her words and steps, and use her life for good. We lift the former landlord to You as well, asking for Your work in his heart. We lift our friend who wrote, asking for Your protection, peace, clear wisdom, and a safe place to live. Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we have made it our own in prayer, for we are assured that God hears prayer and will hear our prayer when we cry to Him in the name of His Son.

We pray first for you, that the Lord who is your refuge and defense would keep you in perfect peace and guard your life from every evil design. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin, and that same blood is your plea before the throne. May you come to God's Book as a little child willing to be taught by God's Spirit, and find there that God breaks down everything which sets itself up in opposition to Him, and that He will not suffer wrong to be hidden forever.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord would strengthen her and keep her faithful as His witness. May she walk in truth and speak the truth in love, and may the Lord give her discernment and courage to declare His wondrous works. We ask that she not be left in darkness concerning what has been done, but that all that has been hidden concerning the life threatening apartment and the wrong that has been suffered would be brought into the light, for God brings hidden things to light in His time and in His justice.

Concerning the former landlord and the woman with whom he has lived in sin, we cannot ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sex and living together belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We pray instead that God would grant them repentance. May the Holy Spirit convict them of sin and turn them from it, that they may put God first above all profit and pleasure and self will. Man's will has stood up against God's will, but God's purpose shall stand. We pray that every idol that has taken God's place in their hearts, whether it be lust or gain or pride or any other vanity, would be exposed and destroyed, for little children, keep yourselves from idols. May God in mercy save them through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God would expose every evil work and frustrate every plan formed to harm you, and that He who plucks brands from the fire would show His power to deliver and to judge with unimpeachable justice. Let no degree of sin hinder us from praying that even the guilty may find mercy if they turn and confess with a broken heart, for with God there is forgiveness that He may be feared.

May the Lord teach you still to pray with that holy shrinking of self and clinging to Christ by which His people overcome His heart, and to rest in this, that He who hears the cry, Who shall deliver us from the body of this death, is able to deliver to the uttermost all who come unto God by Him. We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that God will strengthen her and continue to speak through her, and that He will give her wisdom, courage and clarity to speak the truth in love. We ask that what has been hidden will be brought into the light, so that she is not kept in the dark about what you have suffered, and that her influence may be used by God to call her brother toward repentance and toward putting God first in his life.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would work in his heart to turn from every idol and from every way that dishonors Him, and to seek the Lord above all else. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with sexual union belonging only within that covenant. Therefore we do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but we pray that both of them would come to repentance, that every idol would be exposed and destroyed by His mighty power, and that they would walk in holiness and truth.

Concerning the apartment that endangered your life and the grave wrongs you describe, we ask our mighty and powerful God to be your protector and your judge. He sees all things and His justice is perfect, even when we cannot fully understand it. We pray that He will expose what is evil, bring truth into the light, and establish justice according to His will, while guarding you from further harm. In times of trial and fear, God often permits hard things to test us and to make us stronger, and He calls us to bear afflictions with patience, not seeking danger needlessly, but trusting Him to deliver in His time. May He give you endurance, peace, and confidence that He is present with you in this fourth watch of the night.

Let us pray together: Heavenly Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior. Strengthen this sister in faith and make her a faithful witness. Open eyes that have been closed, expose every idol and every hidden deed, and destroy what stands against Your holiness. Lead this brother to repentance and to new life in Christ. Protect Your child who has been harmed, grant safety, justice and healing, and help all involved to put You first. Teach us to bear trials nobly and to trust Your perfect justice and mercy.
