Silas
Beloved of All
We are praying with you in this difficult and distressing situation and we take seriously what you have shared about a dangerous living condition and your concern for your safety. The Lord sees what has happened, He knows the truth when justice seems far off and truth seems fallen in the street, and He is near to those who call upon Him. He does not always deliver us from affliction with immediate removal, but He promises to carry us through it, to be our protection and to use even hard trials to purify faith, to separate what is true from what is false, and to draw His people closer together in love and support for one another.
We join you in praying for the sister who knows Jesus. We ask that the Lord continue to speak through her and give her wisdom, courage and clarity, and that she would be a faithful witness of divine truth. A simple believer filled with the Spirit can speak more spiritual truth than the wisest person without Christ, because that truth comes from Scripture and from the Holy Spirit. We pray that nothing remains hidden in darkness but that what needs to be known is brought into the light in a truthful and loving way, and that her influence would point her brother toward repentance and toward putting God first.
We also pray for the former landlord. Our prayer is not that God would bless any relationship outside of His design, but that both he and the woman you mentioned would turn from idols to serve the living and true God. Scripture teaches that marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that sexual intimacy belongs within that covenant alone. Outside of it, we are called to flee immorality, as Joseph fled when he was tempted, and to run from temptation. Idolatry is worshiping anything other than God, and it is sin against Him. We pray that every idol would be exposed and destroyed, that the seriousness of sin would be understood as that which alienates a person from the life of Christ and from fellowship with His people, and that there would be a turning away from any disorderly walk and toward obedience to what we have received in the Word.
We hear your cry for justice and for truth to be known. God is a God of justice and He desires justice to prevail. When judgment is turned backward and equity cannot enter, He is not unaware. Scripture says it is a righteous thing with God to repay trouble to those who trouble His people and to give rest to those who are troubled when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels. Those who persist in rejecting the gospel will be punished with everlasting destruction away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, forever separated from Him. But for those who believe, Jesus who was raised from the dead delivers us from the wrath to come, and we wait for Him as we serve the living God. You may also seek lawful means for protection and justice as the apostle Paul at times appealed to the legal process when he was denied justice, while ultimately resting in the Lord's perfect justice and timing. We pray for your protection, for truth to come to light concerning the apartment and concerning any harm intended against you, and for God to vindicate what is right.
In this season, stay rooted in all Scripture, which is given by inspiration of God. It teaches us who God is, His nature and character and purposes, and it shows us our own need of redemption and how to walk in a way that pleases Him. Continue to wait for God's Son from heaven, to put God first, and to trust that He who has always existed and who sustains all things is able to declare the end from the beginning and to bring His purposes to pass.
We pray that our mighty and powerful God would expose every idol, destroy its hold, bring what is hidden into the light, grant repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, establish hearts that put Him first, and give you peace and rest as you trust Him to do what is right.
