The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join with you in bringing this serious burden before the Lord and we thank God that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus, for we know that faith is a gift from God and a light in darkness.

We pray that God will continue to speak through her and strengthen her to be a faithful witness to her brother, for we are called to speak the truth in love and to let our light shine before others. We ask that the Lord give her boldness and wisdom, and that He will not allow truth to remain hidden. The Lord tells us that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17, and that we are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you, and about the serious sin that has surrounded this situation, so that she can pray with full knowledge and speak with godly counsel and loving accountability.

We must also address the sexual relationship you mentioned, for God has made marriage to be honored and holy. Scripture is clear that we are to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. Whether this was fornication or adultery, it is sin before a holy God and it opens the door to further evil and destruction. We pray that the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from it, and that if they are to pursue any relationship it would only be in a manner that honors God, which is courtship with the goal of marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, not a sexual relationship outside of marriage. We also pray for you that you will be kept pure and guarded from bitterness.

You have raised the grave matter of attempts on your life, and we take this very seriously. God is your refuge and protector, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1, and we pray for His hedge of protection around you. We also pray that God, who loves justice, will expose every evil deed and bring it to light, and that every idol will be torn down, for you shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and we are to guard ourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. When we put anything, whether money, property, power, or an immoral relationship before God, it becomes an idol that must be destroyed. We pray that both the former landlord and his sister will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness Matthew 6:33 and put God first in all things.

We also encourage you to continue to trust God for both justice and vengeance, for it is written, vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and God has also ordained authorities as servants of God for justice Romans 13:4. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to seek protection and report any life threatening conditions and any threats or attempts to harm you to the proper authorities, while continuing to pray that God will expose the truth and bring repentance or righteous judgment.

We pray together now, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and by whom alone we are saved Acts 4:12.

Father, we lift up this sister in Christ to You and thank You for her faith. Anoint her lips to speak Your truth with grace and courage, and do not let her be deceived or kept in darkness. Reveal to her the truth about the apartment and about her brother's sin, and use her influence to call him to repentance. Lord, convict the former landlord of his sin, including his sexual immorality and any dishonesty or harm done in renting a dangerous dwelling. Bring him to humble repentance and to put You first. Expose and destroy every idol in his life and in the life of this woman, and expose every hidden evil plan. Protect our dear one who has requested prayer, guard his life from every attempt of the enemy, and let no weapon formed against him prosper. Bring justice, bring truth to light, and bring salvation where there is still opportunity for repentance. We ask all this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.

We hear how heavy this situation has been for you, and we appreciate your heart for the former landlord's sister and your desire to see truth and faithfulness win out.

It is a good thing to pray that someone who loves Jesus would keep walking closely with Him and be a steady, honest voice in her family. We are joining you in asking that God would give her wisdom and courage, and that whatever needs to be known would come to light in a right and orderly way. We are also praying for you, that you would know God's nearness and protection as you navigate the concerns about your housing and personal safety.

Father, we bring this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Keep drawing her close and give her wisdom to speak what is true in love. We ask You to work in her brother's heart and lead them both to put You first. We lift up our friend who wrote, asking for Your peace, safety, and clear direction in the days ahead, and that anything that has taken Your place would be revealed and surrendered. Your burden has been heard and we take it with you to the throne of grace where our Lord Jesus Christ ever liveth to make intercession for his people.

We join you in prayer for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus. We thank God for her faith, for it is a divine confidence wrought by the Holy Ghost, and we pray that the Lord will keep her faithful, that she may be purified and upheld by his Spirit, and that she may continue to speak the truth in love. May the Lord give her wisdom and courage, and may she not be kept in darkness concerning those things which concern her brother's dealings. We pray that what has been hidden may be brought to light, for our God is one who exposes what is done in secret that it may be judged and healed, and that no idol may stand before him.

We pray also for the former landlord and for the woman you mention. We do not ask God to bless any union that is outside his holy ordinance, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union belongs within it alone, and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. Where there has been sin, we pray for conviction of sin, for repentance and for faith in the efficacious blood of Christ which alone can sprinkle the evil conscience and make the sinner clean. We pray that both souls may be brought to put God first, to turn from every idol and from every forbidden path, and to seek mercy at the cross. As it is written, little children keep yourselves from idols, and we pray that the Lord in his divine purpose would break down everything which sets itself up in opposition to him, that he would dry up that which is of the creature and exalt that which is of his own grace. Every idol must fall, for he creates that he may display his own perfections and will not share his glory with another.

We pray for you who have suffered and have known fear. You speak of a dwelling that was dangerous to life and of those who would seek to do you harm. We pray that the Lord will grant you his divine interposition and deliverance, for he often sends from above and draws his people out of many waters. He grants protection to the persecuted and provides an escape from the most perilous exposure, and he takes even evil and subjects it to his own eternal purpose to bring forth good for his children and glory for his name. We ask that he would lift up the poor from the dunghill and be your refuge and ark when the waters of affliction rise.

And we exhort you in the words of the apostle, overcome evil with good. To recompense evil for evil is natural, but may Divine Grace continually give you the victory to overcome it by good. May you not know the misery of being overcome of evil, but may you leave vengeance in the hands of him who judges righteously, and may your heart be kept from bitterness while you trust the unerring Wisdom which will bring good out of evil.

Let us pray together. O Mighty and Powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, thou who breakest in pieces the arrogant and liftest up the lowly, look upon these thy creatures. Speak by thy Spirit through thy faithful daughter, keep her from discouragement, and make her a clear witness for holiness and truth. Expose every hidden thing and destroy every idol that would take thy place, whether it be gain or lust or pride or self. Bring the sinner to repentance and to faith in Christ alone for salvation. Cover with thy feathers the one who has been afflicted and afraid, draw him out of many waters, and keep him from all harm. Make him to overcome evil with good, and to find all his succor and solace in the Rock, even Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.
