Thank you for sharing this painful and heavy situation. We are praying with you and we hear the weight of what you have been through.
We are praying for the sister who knows Jesus. We ask that the Lord would strengthen her faith, keep her close to His Word, and give her wisdom and courage to speak truth with love. We pray that nothing that needs to be known would stay hidden from her, and that God would use her faithful witness to be a clear voice for righteousness and truth in her brother's life. God is able to speak through those who walk with Him, and we pray her influence would point him toward repentance and toward Christ.
We are also praying for your former landlord and for the woman you mentioned. Scripture teaches that God is a jealous God who desires our whole heart, and that idols of any kind, whether pleasure, sex, power, or possessions, estrange a person from Him and separate them from fellowship with Him. An idol promises life but brings destruction if it is not forsaken. The only hope God holds out is to repent, to turn away from idols and from every immoral way, to ask His forgiveness, and to turn the heart fully back to Him. Sex outside the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sin against God's holy law, and we cannot ask God to bless what He calls sin. Instead we pray that God would expose every idol and every hidden work of darkness, that He would bring conviction of sin, and that both of them would put God first, turn from sexual immorality and from any evil intent or action, and seek salvation through Jesus Christ alone. We pray that whatever is done in secret would be brought into the light so that truth and justice may be done.
We are praying for you as well for protection and peace. The Psalms remind us that God is our defense and refuge, that He saves from violence and delivers from enemies who are too strong for us, and that vain is the help of man but through God we find help. We ask that the Lord would be your shelter under His wings until these troubles pass, that He would guard your life, give you wisdom for every practical step for your safety, including seeking help from the proper authorities where there are threats to life or unsafe living conditions, and that He would bring you into unbroken fellowship with Him as you trust not in what you have done but in what He has done for you through Jesus.
We join you in praying that our mighty God would tear down every idol, cleanse hearts by His refining work, and be honored as first in every life involved. May He forgive sin where there is repentance, cover iniquity by His mercy, and lead all who call on Him to walk in His ways.
