The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me and the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me

We join with you in lifting up this situation before the Lord and we thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus. We are grateful that God has placed a believer in that family who can be salt and light, and we pray that the Lord will continue to give her boldness and wisdom to speak truth in love.

We pray that what has been hidden in darkness will be brought into the light. The word says in Luke 8:17 that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light, and in Ephesians 5:11 we are told to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even to reprove them. We ask the Father to not allow this sister to be kept in the dark about the serious matters you have described, the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you and the immorality surrounding it. We pray that the Lord will open doors for honest communication and that He will give her discernment to see what is true and to influence her brother toward repentance and responsibility. We pray also that God will give her protection and strength as she stands for righteousness in her own family, for in Matthew 5:16 we are reminded to let our light shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.

We must also address the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is holy within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman and that outside of that covenant it is sin before God. In Hebrews 13:4 we read that marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, and in 1 Corinthians 6:18 we are exhorted to flee sexual immorality. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin and come to repentance, confessing and forsaking it, for Proverbs 28:13 says he who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy. We pray for godly sorrow that leads to true change and for them to seek purity and holiness going forward.

We are deeply concerned to hear about the danger you have faced and the belief that people were hired to try to kill you. We pray for your safety and for God's divine protection over your life, for Psalm 91:1-2 promises that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty and that He is our refuge and fortress. We ask the Lord to surround you with His angels, to thwart every plan of harm, and to bring justice according to His perfect will. While we pray for mercy and repentance for those who have done evil, we also know that God has established authorities to restrain evil, for Romans 13:4 says the ruler is a servant of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer, and Romans 12:19 reminds us to not avenge ourselves but to give place to God's wrath. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to seek wise counsel and to report any credible threats to your life and any unsafe housing conditions to the proper authorities so that the truth can be documented and others can be protected. We also encourage you to continue to love your enemies and pray for them as Jesus taught in Matthew 5:44, not out of approval of their sin but in hope that they might be saved and transformed.

We lift you up as well, that the Lord would heal any fear, trauma, and distress this has caused and that He would provide you with safe housing and peace. We pray that God would change the former landlord's heart, that He would give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him as promised in Ezekiel 36:26, and that he would take responsibility for what was rented to you and make what is wrong right.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together. We thank You for this sister who knows You and we ask that You anoint her words, give her courage, and let her be a vessel of Your truth and grace in her family. Expose what needs to be exposed, protect what needs to be protected, and convict of sin where there is immorality and wrongdoing. Bring this brother to repentance and salvation if he does not yet know You, and bring this woman to repentance as well. Cover our dear one who is praying with Your hand of protection, give wisdom for every practical step, and let Your justice and Your mercy both be seen. We ask that Your will be done and that You would bring peace and restoration where there has been danger and sin. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and our access to the Father, amen.

We join you in praying for your former landlord's sister. We have heard your burden and we bring it with you to the throne of grace, where our Lord hears the cries of His people and is mighty to deliver.

We pray for this sister in Christ, that the Lord who has begun a good work in her would strengthen her faith and make her voice clear and bold for truth. It is decision for Christ and His truth that has the greatest power in the family and in the world, and we ask that God would continue to speak through her, keep her from being kept in darkness, and give her wisdom and courage to speak what is true and right concerning her brother. May she walk in the light, love the truth of God for which she stands, and be kept from all fear of man, trusting not in persuasion of men but in the power of God to work conviction and change.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would deliver him from the power of darkness and from the guilt and dominion of sin. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy will, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union outside of it is sin before the Lord, and all cohabitation apart from that covenant is outside His design. We pray instead that God would grant him repentance, that he would turn from immorality and from any unjust dealing, and that the truth concerning the apartment which endangered your life would be brought into the light. What is done in secret, the Lord sees, and we ask that what has been hidden would be revealed, that justice would be done, and that every scheme of evil would be brought to nothing.

For you, who have suffered threat and fear and the malice of those who would do you harm, we pray for deliverance from the pit. Our God has found a ransom, and He has invented the way of deliverance through the blood of His dear Son who bore the penalty for sin. If you feel you are going down to the pit, hear this sure word, I have found a ransom, and know that deliverance is certain and of free grace only. We ask that the Lord would be your shield and defender, that He would preserve your life, frustrate every attempt of the wicked against you, and use even the malice of enemies for your good, chastening and keeping you, and drawing you nearer to Himself. How many prayers are offered through persecution that would never have been offered else, and God is blessed in bringing His people close to Him through trial.

May the Lord give you to live and to declare the works of the Lord, to say with a grateful heart, my enemy struck at me, but my gracious God was working in love to my soul. We ask that He would bring you forth effectually, that you would know His peace within your borders, and that you would rest in this, that the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever. We commit you, and this sister, and this man who needs Christ, into the hands of Him who alone can save and sanctify, praying all in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our great deliverance.
