Forgiveness Before Sundown
Letting go of anger by sundown brings peace to your heart and health to your body.
David's Religious Experience
God hears prayer and answers it, so we must commit to a life of prayer and trust in Him.
A Warning Against Hardness of Heart
Guard your heart daily against unbelief and sin’s deceit, or you will grow hard and distant from God.
We join you in this prayer and we hear the heaviness of what you are carrying in that shared office. Working so closely with five other people every day in an atmosphere of tension, anger, frustration and pettiness is exhausting and unhealthy, and we thank you for bringing it before the Lord and asking in the name of Jesus. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we are grateful you prayed in His name, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6

We know the Lord desires peace and unity among those who work together. We are reminded that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 and that we are to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20. The tension you describe is not from God, for God is a God of peace. We also take comfort that the Lord does watch over His people, for the angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7 and we know angels are ministering spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation. Hebrews 1:14. We can ask for His protection and guidance, trusting that His presence is greater than any conflict in that room.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this office and all six hearts within it. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Forgive us where anger and pettiness have taken root, and help each person to put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, with all malice, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave us. Ephesians 4:31-32. Send Your holy angels to encamp around this workplace and protect it from strife and division, and more than that, fill it with Your Holy Spirit so that each word spoken would be good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29. Soften hearts, Lord, give wisdom to respond with gentleness, give strength to bear with one another in love, and clothe each person there with a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance. Colossians 3:12. Let this office become a place of respect and calm for Your glory. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to be a peacemaker in that space, for blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Matthew 5:9. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18. That may mean choosing to not return a harsh word, quietly praying before you respond, forgiving quickly even when you feel irritated, and looking for small ways to show grace such as a kind word or offering help. We also encourage you to pray daily before you enter the office, asking the Lord to let His peace rule in your heart and to make you an instrument of His calm. Remember how good and pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity. Psalm 133:1. We are trusting with you that as you seek Him, He will guide every heart in that room toward patience, understanding, and mutual respect.

We hear how draining this has been for you. Sharing a tight office with five other people every day while carrying anger, frustration and pettiness in the air is exhausting, and it makes sense you would cry out for God to protect and steady every heart there.

Living and working so close together will bring out differences, and tension itself is not unusual. What helps is having a clear, calm way to handle it rather than letting it simmer or spill over. We have found it helps to manage the emotions that surface instead of pushing them down, and to give the situation some structure.

One small step that may help this week is to practice a brief pause before responding when frustration rises. Take a moment privately to pray and get clear on what actually happened, then look for one simple way to show respect even in a tense moment, like using a calm tone or acknowledging the shared work you all need to do together. If direct conversation feels too hard right now, it can be wise to ask a neutral person, such as a supervisor or another trusted person at work, to help facilitate a short, respectful conversation about shared expectations for the space.

Father, we bring this office to You and ask for Your peace to settle there. Guard each person in that room, soften hearts where there has been hurt, and give wisdom for words and responses. Help our friend to know Your nearness and guidance each day at work. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer from that crowded office has been heard and we have joined you in bringing it before the throne of grace. To share a room with five others and to feel tension and anger and frustration and pettiness rising day after day is a sore trial, and it is right and wise that you have turned to the Lord who is the God of peace.

The word of the Lord gives you a sure promise for such a place as this, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." This is not a peace that depends upon quiet surroundings or agreeable companions, but a perfect peace that may be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even when thronging duties press. For to do the will of Jesus, this is rest, and the blood of Jesus whispers peace within even when sorrows are surging round.

That peace which Christ gives is not as the world gives. It is His own peace, bought with His blood and wrought in the heart by His Spirit. It is a blessing which brings no sorrow with it, a filling peace that comes from a renewed heart and reconciliation to God. Anger is a deadly foe to unity, and where pettiness and frustration are allowed to linger, unity is broken. Pray then not only for outward quiet, but that the Lord would chase out of every heart in that room what would break true concord, and that each one may be kept in closest ties of patience and forbearance.

We have prayed for you and for those who share that office with you, that the Lord would guard your hearts and keep you in His perfect peace, that He would give you grace to bear with one another in meekness and to let the peace of God rule within you. May He guide your words and temper your spirit, and make you an instrument of His peace where strife has been.

We ask the Lord to let His presence be known there, to still the unholy anger and to grant you that calm which comes from a mind stayed upon Christ. May you know this day that peace which passes all understanding, and may you go in peace, kept by Jesus, whatever the pressures around you may be. In the name of Jesus Christ, our peace, we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord and we thank you for sharing it so honestly. The tension, anger, frustration and pettiness you describe in that shared office is a heavy weight to carry each day, and it is right to ask God for His help and for peace.

We pray with you now that the Lord in His mercy would hear your prayer offered in the name of Jesus. We ask Him to send His protection over that room and over each heart within it, and to grant what the Church has always asked for, the Angel of peace to watch over you. Scripture reminds us that each of those who belong to God has an Angel who beholds the face of the Father, so we live as though we are in the presence of tutors. May that awareness make all in the office sober, gentle and watchful in speech and conduct.

We ask God to let His peace rule in your hearts as an umpire. When two thoughts wrestle within us, one urging revenge or harsh words and the other urging patience and endurance, may His peace give the prize to endurance. Human peace often comes from demanding our own way, but the peace of God comes from His reconciliation with us through Christ, and it teaches us to make peace with one another. The Lord Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, and we pray that this peace, which is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, would settle upon your office.

We also pray that the Lord would help you and your coworkers to put away wrath. The Holy Spirit does not dwell where wrath remains, and whether we pray or speak or work, wrath ruins all. May God help you to speak without anger and without harshness, even when provoked, and to answer with gentleness and grief for the good of others rather than with passion. Every conflict has its root in love of earthly things, in envy or vainglory, and when we learn to despise those things and to treasure what is above, much strife falls away. Those who make peace are called sons of God, for the Son of God came to bring peace between heaven and earth.

May the Lord guard you from harm, keep your heart from being troubled by the trouble around you, and give you strength to stand nobly and quietly, not seeking conflict but waiting on Him. May He soften every heart in that office, remove what is petty and unkind, and teach you all to honor one another and to keep within proper limits so that health and harmony may return.

Father, we lift this office of six people to You. Send Your holy angels to protect and guide, calm every angry thought, and let Your peace dwell there. Make each person a peacemaker in that place, and let all that is said and done be for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our peace and our salvation. Amen.

The tension you described in that shared office with five other people is real and painful, and your prayer for protection and for God to guide every heart there has been heard. Anger and frustration and pettiness day after day wear a person down, and it is right to bring that unhealthy atmosphere to the Lord and ask Him to intervene.

Scripture makes a distinction that is important for a situation like this. There is a kind of quiet that comes simply because outward pressure keeps people from speaking, but that is not true peace. Real peace is not just the absence of conflict. It is the presence of God at work in hearts. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, and the prophets tell us that of His government and peace there will be no end. That complete peace for the whole earth will only come when He comes again, but He gives His own peace now to those who trust Him. He said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world can only give a temporary calm. Christ gives a steady peace that can guard the heart and mind even while outward trouble continues.

That peace comes in two parts. First we must have peace with God, which only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ who made reconciliation possible. When sins are forgiven and we are no longer at war with God, then we can know the peace of God day by day. The Scriptures often put it as grace and peace, and always in that order, because we cannot experience the keeping power of His peace until we have first received His grace. The prophet wrote that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts Him. As your mind is turned toward the Lord in the middle of that crowded office, as you trust that He is in control and will care for what concerns you, His peace begins to fill and steady your heart.

The Lord is also revealed as the Lord our Peace, the One who is peace even while the battle is still going on. You can look beyond the present conflict to Him. He is able to give you calm inside the turmoil, not only after it is over.

Faith is not passive, and God invites you to cooperate with Him as a peacemaker there. Scripture says to be angry and yet not sin, and not to let the sun go down while anger still burns. It warns to put away bitterness and wrath and anger and loud quarreling and slander and malice, because those things grieve the Holy Spirit. Instead we are to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. In a small space where pettiness can grow quickly, sowing peace through gentle answers, quick forgiveness, refusing to repeat evil talk, and choosing patience can change the atmosphere.

Remember how God changed a heart in the story of Jacob and Esau. Esau had carried anger for years, and Jacob feared a bitter and tense meeting. Yet God softened Esau so that when they finally met, instead of recrimination there was embrace and weeping and forgiveness. What seemed certain to end in hostility became a reunion marked by love. God can do that same heart work among coworkers. He can soften what is hard and turn tension into respect and even kindness.

So I pray with you that the Lord will protect you and each person who shares that office, that He will guide every heart toward humility and understanding, and that He will guard your own heart with the peace that passes all understanding. May He help you to keep your mind stayed on Him through the day, to release anger quickly, to speak and act in ways that sow peace, and to trust Him to work in the hearts of others in ways only He can. May He show Himself to you as your peace in the midst of this conflict and bring a healthier, more gracious spirit into that room for His glory. In Jesus name, amen.
