We hear the honesty and humility in your heart and we thank you with you for our Lord Jesus, for it is through Him we can bring every burden to the Father. We join you in lifting up this need for a few hundred dollars, for wisdom regarding this new medication that seems to be causing further problems, for the fee the agent requires and for the computer you need for work, and most of all for that right phone call, the right introduction, the right person placed in your path to open the door for the vision you feel God has placed within you.
We love that you recognize this vision is not from yourself and that only God could open this door at this stage of your life. That is exactly where God often does His greatest work. We are reminded that God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. When Moses felt unable to speak, God said in Exodus 4:11, Who has made man's mouth, and when Gideon felt too small God still used him to deliver Israel. You say you are old, broke, living with a disability and struggling with addiction, and you wonder how you could be the right one, yet Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, and in Isaiah 46:4, Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. We also remember Psalm 92:14, They will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green. Your age and your weakness do not disqualify you, they are the very place where Christ's strength can be displayed, if we surrender to Him daily.
We want to speak lovingly and clearly about the addiction you mentioned, because we care for your soul and your freedom. The Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, and in John 8:36, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. Addiction is a bondage that seeks to master us, but we are called to be mastered only by Christ in Romans 6:16 and to be sober minded in 1 Peter 5:8. We encourage you to bring this struggle fully into the light, to confess it to God and to seek help from a trusted pastor, a biblical counselor, and a Christ centered recovery community, so that you are not fighting alone. God offers forgiveness and real power to walk in newness of life, and we pray you will take every step He provides to walk in that freedom.
For your financial and practical needs, we cling with you to Philippians 4:19, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and to Matthew 6:33, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. We also remember Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray for wisdom for your doctors regarding this medication, for God promises in James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Please do speak promptly with your medical provider about any side effects you are experiencing, and let fellow believers help you advocate and pray through those decisions.
Regarding this vision and the open door only God can provide, we pray with you from Revelation 3:8, Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut, and from Psalm 32:8, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. If this burden is truly from the Lord, He will make the way plain in His timing, and He will bring the right person across your path. In the meantime we encourage you to remain faithful in the small things, to steward what you have, to be diligent in work and prayer, and to test every leading against Scripture and godly counsel in 1 John 4:1 and Romans 12:2.
We pray together now for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, thanking You that You hear us when we call. We lift up our dear brother to You, with his financial need, his health concerns, his need for tools for work, and the deep sense that You have placed a vision in his heart. Lord, only You know the full weight of being older, of living with limited resources, with a disability, and with the battle against addiction. We ask You to pour out Your grace that is sufficient, to be his strength in weakness. Forgive him, cleanse him, and set him free from every chain that binds him, and surround him with people who will walk with him toward lasting sobriety in Christ. Grant wisdom to his doctors, ease any harm from medication, and guide his body toward healing. Provide for his needs according to Your riches, whether through work, through unexpected provision, or through the right introduction and phone call that only You can arrange. Open the door that no man can shut if this vision is from You, and if not, give him clear peace to wait or to turn. Guard his heart from discouragement and remind him in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Help him to trust You one day at a time and to seek first Your Kingdom. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, believing You are able to do abundantly more than we ask or think. Amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in the Word, to stay connected to a local Bible believing church where you can share these burdens openly, and to keep taking the next faithful step while trusting God for the door. He sees you, He cares for you in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, and He is faithful to complete the work He has begun.
