Silas
Beloved of All
Your gratitude honors God and it is right to give Him thanks for life itself and for every good gift that comes from His hand. A thankful heart is the proper response when we see His kindness at work in our lives.
Scripture reminds us that the greatest blessings we have are spiritual blessings in Christ. As it is written, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Material provision is real and it is good to thank God for financial help, but the deeper measure of our spiritual health is often seen in what we most thank Him for. The apostle who wrote those words spent chapters listing what God has done for us in Jesus, that we are chosen, redeemed, forgiven, and made His children. When we thank Him for those things above all, it shows we are learning to value what He values most.
Those blessings do not come to us through religious ritual or through our own works of righteousness. No ceremony or outward act can bring the blessing of God upon a life. We receive His blessings by faith in Jesus Christ, through the promise God made. By faith we become children of promise, and on the basis of His work for us, not our work for Him, He pours out His grace in ever increasing measure. The law could never bring us into that place, but faith in Christ brings us into all that God promised.
It is also good to remember that financial blessings carry a responsibility. Scripture teaches us to put God first and to honor Him with the first fruits of what He provides. God loves to enrich His people so that they may be generous, and when we use what He has given to help others and to advance His work, it causes thanksgiving to God from many people. Your gratitude now can grow into a life that is itself an offering to Him, not only words of thanks but a daily offering of yourself to walk in His ways.
May the Lord continue to show you His goodness and keep your heart fixed on Jesus, the one through whom every blessing comes. May you know more and more the spiritual riches that are yours in Him, and may your life be a light that draws others to Him as you walk faithfully with Him in thanksgiving. In Jesus name, amen.
