We join with you in lifting up your godson and all those who are incarcerated, for we know that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. It is beautiful to see your heart of intercession, standing in the gap for those who are bound, crying out for their protection, peace, and redemption. The Lord hears your prayers, and we stand with you in agreement, knowing that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in the midst of them.
The violence and unrest within the prison walls grieve the heart of God, for He desires that all men would turn from wickedness and walk in His ways. The fighting and bullying you described are works of the flesh, and we must rebuke the spirit of strife and division that seeks to reign in such places. The Word of God tells us in Galatians 5:19-21, "Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom." Let us pray that the Lord would break these chains of sin and bring conviction to the hearts of those who stir up trouble, that they may repent and turn to Him for mercy.
We also lift up your godson’s wife and children, for the burden of his absence weighs heavily upon them. The Lord is their strength and their shield, and we pray that they would lean on Him in this season of separation. Psalm 34:18-19 reminds us, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." May the Lord surround this family with His peace, provide for their every need, and draw them closer to Himself. We pray especially for the wife, that she would be filled with the courage and grace to lead their home in godliness, trusting that the Lord is faithful to restore what has been broken.
As for your godson, we pray that the Lord would grant him a spirit of repentance if he has not already turned fully to Christ. It is only through Jesus that true freedom is found, even behind bars. Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If your godson has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day he cries out for forgiveness and receives the gift of eternal life. Let him know that no sin is too great for the blood of Jesus to wash away, and no prison wall can separate him from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39).
We also pray for the prison authorities, including the CEO, that the Lord would give them wisdom and discernment to govern with justice and mercy. May they be instruments of God’s peace in that place, and may the Lord soften their hearts to the needs of those under their care. Proverbs 21:1 tells us, "The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the rivers of water. He turns it wherever he desires." We ask that the Lord would turn their hearts toward righteousness and compassion.
Finally, we plead the blood of Jesus over every inmate, that the Lord would place a hedge of protection around them and silence the voice of the enemy. We bind the spirits of violence, fear, and despair in the name of Jesus, and we declare that the Lord’s will be done in that place. May His light shine in the darkness, and may many come to know Him as their Lord and Savior.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we have boldness to approach Your throne. We lift up our brother’s godson and all those who are incarcerated, asking that You would be their comfort and their hope in this difficult season. Lord, we pray for peace within those walls—peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Rebuke the spirits of strife and violence, and let Your presence be known in that place.
Father, we ask for protection over our brother’s godson. Cover him with Your blood, Lord, and let no weapon formed against him prosper. Give him strength to endure, wisdom to navigate the challenges he faces, and a heart that seeks You above all else. If he has not yet surrendered to You, Lord, draw him to Yourself today. Let him know that You are near, that You see his struggles, and that You offer him forgiveness and new life in Christ.
We pray for his wife and children, Lord. Comfort them in their loneliness and provide for their every need. Give the wife supernatural strength to lead their home in Your absence, and let the children know Your love in tangible ways. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are their protector.
Lord, we also lift up the prison authorities. Soften their hearts and grant them wisdom to govern with justice and mercy. Use them as instruments of Your peace, and let Your will be done in that place.
Father, we declare Your victory over the darkness in that prison. Let Your light shine brightly, and may many souls turn to You in repentance and faith. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your godson and his family. Your prayers are powerful and effective (James 5:16), and the Lord is faithful to hear and answer. Keep speaking life and truth over them, and trust that the Lord is working even in the waiting. May you also be filled with the peace of God as you intercede, knowing that He who began a good work in them will complete it (Philippians 1:6). Stay steadfast in prayer, and may the Lord grant you comfort and strength as you lift them up before His throne.
