Terrible winds!

We join with you in prayer concerning these terrible winds and the threat of losing power, and we thank you for reaching out to us to pray together.
We know how unsettling it is when the wind howls and the lights flicker, and we are reminded that our God is sovereign even over the wind and the storm. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still Psalm 107:29 and when the disciples were afraid in the storm, Jesus awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm Mark 4:39. He is still the same today and He hears our prayers. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.
We pray together now for you and for everyone in the path of these winds.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we ask for Your mercy and protection. We ask that You would rebuke these winds and bring calm, and that You would in Your grace keep power supplied to homes, to hospitals, and to those who are vulnerable. We ask You to protect lives, homes, and families from harm, from falling trees and debris, and from cold or darkness if power should fail. Grant wisdom and safety to linemen and first responders, and give peace to every anxious heart tonight. We trust that You are good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and You know those who take refuge in You Nahum 1:7. Let Your peace guard all who are afraid. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We also want to gently encourage you concerning what you shared, we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why we always pray in His name, because Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus that we have access to God and the assurance that He hears our prayers, and we want you to know that assurance personally. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and to call upon His name.
We will continue to keep you and your community in prayer that the Lord will calm these winds and keep you safe and keep the power on. May you feel His presence and protection very near, and may you rest in knowing that He holds the winds in His hands.

We were glad you reached out to tell us what you are going through. Hearing those winds howl and watching the lights flicker is truly unsettling, and it makes sense you felt anxious when you almost lost power. Thank you for letting us pray with you.
We are praying now for your safety and for your neighbors, that you all would be kept safe through the storm and that power would stay on where possible. We are also praying for peace for you while you wait it out.
A small practical thing that can help while the wind is still strong is to stay inside, keep your phone charged if you can, have a flashlight and some water nearby, and keep an eye on your local weather updates so you know what to expect. If you have family or a neighbor close by, letting someone know you are okay can bring extra peace as well.
Father, we bring our friend to You tonight. You see the wind and You see their home. We ask for Your hand of protection over them and over everyone in the area, for safety and for steady power, and for calm in their heart as they trust You. Give them rest tonight and keep them safe. In Jesus' name, amen.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your trembling note has reached us in the midst of these terrible winds, and we have carried your request before the Lord who reigns over wind and storm.
We understand how such a night tries the heart. There is a fear which has torment, a fear which leads to the apprehension that something evil is about to happen, and it unfits us to meet the very difficulty we dread. Therefore we labor to get rid, as much as possible, of that slavish fear. The command of God to His people is absolute and unqualified, Fear not, be not dismayed. It is not the preacher who cries Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, Fear not, for I will help thee.
You speak of the wind, and it is well to remember that Jehovah still reigns and the wind blows where it wishes and not where man wills that it shall blow. The Spirit of God is like the wind in its freeness and suddenness. None of us can raise the wind or direct its course. We cannot see the wind but we can hear the sound thereof, and so we cannot see the hand of God but we may trust His power and wisdom to keep us. He who piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth, shall His arm ever be palsied? He is able to keep you from falling and to preserve you in safety.
Let your faith overcome your fear. Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you, is the gracious word given to believers in such an hour. Play the man and let trust in promised strength remove fear by that promise. Like the boy on board ship in time of storm who was the only person that was not afraid because his father was at the helm, so may you rest, for your Father is at the helm.
We do pray for you now, that the Lord in His mercy would graciously preserve you and all around you, and if it be His will, keep your power from failing. Yet more, we pray that He would keep you in perfect peace, that you may not be tormented with anxious care, but may know that whether the wind be soft and mild or fierce and threatening, you are in the hands of Him who will help you, and who will not lose one whom eternal love has chosen. May He grant you that blessed fear which is holy reverence and awe, and deliver you from all other fear.
We commend you to God our Savior, who is both able and wise to keep you, and we ask that you may find His presence your stronghold and exceeding joy in this storm.
